Cool, thanks. That's definitely a good indication that there will be five movies and, if that's the case, I think it'd be safe to say that The Answer will be animated as well. It seems like quite a bit, though, since three seemed like the most likely amount.

Edit: Actually taking the time to consider it, it seems like just the right amount. April, May, June for movie #1 (Spring); July, August, September for movie #2 (Summer); October, November, December for movie #3 (Fall); January, February, March for movie #4 (Winter) and The Answer for movie #5.

Was always worried that 3 would feel rushed, as most of the dramatic stuff happens in the last part of the game(and most of the gameplay itself, honestly). If I can hope that the P4GA they finally use weapons, then I can hope that they take time in the P3 movies to make Strega not suck.

Sissy Yu looks too much like Sho, the tower link. Do not want. The giant forehead one looks like he's Morooka's son...

So in P2 is there a dungeon I can go return to to build up my new Personas before committing to another long ass grind of dungeon after dungeon after boss fight after boss fight like I did with this last set, or am I fucked here?

There's a warehouse in one of the districts that serves as little more than an area to grind in.

At this point in the game there's also some fusion abilities that you could be spamming that makes everything a joke.

There is the abandoned factory in the Kounan district, basically acts like what Meia a training ground for grinding and ranking up your persona, EP has a similar dungeon in the game as well, except it's in a different location, and has a decent amount more of secrets there as well (secret persona materials and such)

Corvo if you arent instantly ending battles with fusion spells or doing mad crazy damage with fusion spells, you are playing P2IS wrong :p

I just got fucking new Personas so of course I'm not doing that, for one.

I really don't like this game, so doing it right or wrong doesn't matter. At one point I considered doing the theater, but now I just want it to be done so I can kick the dust of it from my boots.

I'm not done yet, but P2:IS is easily the worst Persona I've played. I want to like it, but I really cannot say that I do. Still holding out for that "end of game" goodness like P1 had to redeem it, but I dunno. This game is just really, really chuggy in the way it plays. Like, I feel like pains were taken to make it play less smoothly.

That's the PSP port of IS for you!

Most of the fusion spells in Persona 2 don't require specific abilities. A lot of them are just "Any <element> spell", so getting new Personas shouldn't prevent you from doing decent fusion spells.

I don't blame you for disliking vanilla P3. I've never played that, but the way I did play P3 was loaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaads better than anything in P2. Part of me REALLY wants to like this game. I mean, we have
Hitler
and
mechs
and
Holy lances and crystal skulls
and
a spaceship
but I just don't, because all of that feels like a distraction from what I consider the real meat of a Persona game's plot: a story about people, and I cannot say that I give much of a shit about the ones in P2. I mean, Eikichi, Lisa, and Maya are or were okay, yeah, but this whole
BIG MAYA WE THOUGHT WE KILLED YOU!!
plot has been nothing but an extensive, painful rehashing of Final Fantasy VIII's much and rightly hated
Orphanage Twist
. The real selling point of the game here should be this, and I should be moved by everyone's joyous reunion, but I'm not. I feel like Persona 1 actually accomplishes much, much more with far less than this game. Like Persona 2's idea of going places and learning new things about your party by doing that is great, but I don't feel any more attached to the cast because of it. People laud Persona 3 for integrating character development into the game's plot, but I would actually argue that the game that does that best is Persona 1, and with fewer characters and far less to work on. Mark, Nanjo and Maki were very much more alive as characters and I felt and feel far more attached to them than I do the cast of P2, even though by all rights the cast of P2 has had more time to make themselves more endeared to me.

I do not wish to advance the notion that I am not unaware of the fact that part of this lack of affection I have is more personal than mechanical, I just really don't feel anything for this game. The music isn't up to series standard, the combat feels almost like a paradoxical step backward from Persona 1, a game which already needed to understand that battles shouldn't last as long as they do in either of these games. Forced negotiations are awful, and dungeons in this game are what I would call the definition of tedious.

I really, really hate to be the guy who shits on that thing everyone likes, and I wish this game would click with me, because I want to be there to enjoy it with everyone, but man, I am just not feeling this game at all.

Yeah, I'm sure it's just the PSP version. /snrk

He's actually right. While the PS1 versions of Persona 2 are not without flaws (Hellooo tarot cards!), the PSP versions do have a number of annoying issues. Difficulty being poorly adjusted, technical issues, a completely altered battle UI that takes one too many steps to do fusion spells, etc, etc.

I shall just agree to disagree, because Persona 2's plot and characters (both games) are by far the best of the series to me.

And that's okay! Really, I envy you, because I don't want to be The UnFun Guy, and maybe I'm wrong and they just haven't hit me yet, I mean there is a whole game to go, but so far the game is just sorta last place to me.

I think its funny that you love the game people say is not worth anything and they should just skip so they could get to the game with the actually good plot and characters, Persona 2. I am not saying I agree with that sentiment, but it is one that is so commonly thrown around the internet lol.

I might just get DDS with Transistor tomorrow. Sounds like Atlus decided to make an SMT sans bullshit and I'm all about that.

Having played both, Inorigo, I can speak from experience, that The PSP version runs much less smooth than the PS1 version. It is not shit I am making up dude.

I was suggesting that the PSP version probably isn't significantly worse than the original, but Sophia's breakdown suggests that that actually is the case.

Well of course I am saying that from experience and not some fanboy shit or something, come on dude...

Oh and fusion is not bullshit my friend, no matter what you may think of negotiation... :(

I thought Buddha was exaggerating myself. Until I saw the PSP version of Innocent Sin and compared it to the PS1 version. Watching enemies that do 8-9 damage at the start of the game do a single point of damage in the PSP version(ON HARD MODE!!!!!!) was pretty eye opening.

It's too bad they all dress like dorks.

Oh man, do they EVER. Aside from Tatsuya and Lisa's generic school uniforms, do they ever. Eikichi's design is just crazy, I don't know how anybody takes Maya seriously, and Yukino has "OSTRICH" plastered on her pate.

Persona 1's plot is compact, and its cast is pretty simple. Like, I think that game would make a really good 2 hour movie as a plot. Gameplay was rough, and I have said what I have to say about how much of a hassle it is upgrading your Personas and fighting that godawful final boss, but the game, for all of that, felt considerably less clunky than Persona 2.

Persona 1 feels like a really tidy little package, and its shortcomings are made easier to accept because of it. Aside from like, three dungeons in the game, the dungeons were much, much shorter than P2's, and that was very welcome. Also, like P3 and P4, the Velvet Room was an easily accessed region inside or near dungeons, whereas in IS it's completely unavailable, which adds to the hassle.

At least the combat in P1 moves. IS is constantly reminding you of how terrible everything is because it chugs along at a snails pace.

I just thought you were exaggerating, but it's all good, man. Relax.

Fusion is fine, I just prefer being given a set party with skills to learn. I'm not a big fan of the Pokemon menthod, but I can deal with it. You know I love FFX-2, which is that to an extent.

Negotiation = still lame

Well I just got my P3M in the mail today, quite happy with it. Haven't actually watched it yet since I've been working. I want to actually have some free-time when I'm not extremely tired out to do so.

Love the main menu.

It's not.

Supposedly the PS1 version is more challenging (but still piss easy for 90% of the game) and it runs better, but so what? That really doesn't change much in the grand scheme of things. The PS1 version still has many of the flaws of the original version, and it's still a hassle to play through. In fact, i'd rather play the PSP version, since at least the translation is slick and it's got english voice acting.

Inorigo, the PSP version do run slower, there is a decent amount of loading compared to the PS1 version which loads fairly quickly. One of the biggest places where you tell that there the frame rate is slower is in the Casino, which runs very good on the PS1.

The casino ran at like 15 fps on the PSP version and 60 fps on PS1. I spent more than half my game time in that casino in the PS1 version lol, spend absolutely zero time there in the PSP one

So then it is exactly as I thought.

Color me surprised.

He never played the PS1 version of IS. Of course this is my and some others opinions of it. That is his and some others opinions on it. I would tell you to play it yourself and make judgement..but thats a dumb thing to say of course.

My problems with the game are fundamental, so the version is irrelevant to my experience.

Then why are we even having this discussion? I was talking about Corvo's problem with the game to Corvo, which was that the game runs slow and the menus are clunky. That issue is not in the PS1 version, where the game runs fast and the menus are smoother.

If that your problem with the game then fine, but your attitude in this conversation has not been respectful or helpful in the slightest. And we have seen this attitude from you before whenever the older Persona games are brought up and we have a conversation about them.
Like I said above, if you don't like the older game from a fundamental perspective than fine. But don't be ass about it or at least try to be a bit more constructive in your posts than the one you just made when were talking about it.
