Yeah, that's my feeling too. Obviously Minazuki has to come into play as well at some point, and we know next to nothing of his motivations other than he may be Malevolent Entity. Sho being set up as a loner and anarchistic character likely makes him a good vessel for the ME, assuming that's in fact what happens.

But if Sho is the Eerie Voice, then ME actually thinks Sho is an idiot who he is forced to cooperate with to attain his goals.

Also, it's very likely that ME is already Persona Sho, so the "perfect vessel" he is looking for would be something else.

Um, if you say so. In my opinion, it's all about the execution, and there have been antagonists with that goal who have been developed greatly in the past.

Probably true (though I can't think of any examples. I was going to say No Country For Old Men, but that would be pretty mistaken)! But Sho's trailer suggests that he won't be one of them.

That's true, I suppose that Sho could be the Eerie Voice from P4A. I wonder if something happens to the "perfect veseel" that ME mentions in the first game - whoever it is - and so as a result he is forced to use Sho instead, which creates Minazuki?

P3 & P4A SPOILERS:

Assuming that the perfect vessel is meant to be Makoto, then that may explain Makoto's possible appearance in Ultimax: either he is brought back somehow as the vessel for ME, and the heroes save him, forcing ME to use Sho instead, or he is only glimpsed, and ME isn't ever able to use him due to the intervention of the heroes, forcing him to go to Sho and creating Minazuki. I think there's still much more to be revealed before we know what's going on here. Perhaps Minazuki's trailer will shed some further light if it's released next week?

Yeah, it surely would, though I think I'd rather see Ken and Koromaru's. I'm just really looking forward to next week's update to see if that "Coming Soon" character slot goes away or not if all of the characters are listed.

I guess "perfect vessel" sounds like a Makoto thing, but I really don't know at this point. Really looking forward to finding it all out.

Man, I wish the website was just updated on the English side simultaneously. Wonder what Elizabeth's story bit says here:

Roughly translates to
"In the gap between reality and unconsciousness lies the Velvet Room. From it comes forth She Who Wields Power, the strongest elevator girl. She has arrived in Yasoinaba for some purpose..."

Pretty much the same as in the original game I guess.

So, Sho hates friendship, bonds and wants to wipe everyone out with his new world.

Shobito confirmed for ultimax.

I share a birthday with Lisa... she's from P2 right? Both games are on my to play list

Lisa is like Chie in terms of fighting(with punches instead of kicks), but personality wise is a bit closer to Rise. Basically mix the two and you're close.

...Lisa best girl in early Persona. :D

I come bearing a Sho trailer in English! As it turns out, the only thing you need to be the biggest bad guy around is to have puns worse than Teddie's and boy does he have them in spades!

God speed, Atlus USA. Some of the ones he throws even just in this trailer are real head scratchers. Hope you're getting paid the good bucks to figure this stuff out in English~
Awesome stuff Pepsiman, your work is always appreciated! :D I'm super curious to see how they localize Sho's dialogue. I have faith in Atlus USA!

Everyone's birthdays and more! Spoilers inside:

I don't share a birthday with anyone, but Mitsuru's is only one day off. Taurus FTW

My birthday is between Ulala's and Yukiko's. That's... ok, I guess?

Anyway, thanks Pepsiman, your work is amazing! Now that I've seen Sho talking, his portrait doesn't look so bad.

Makes sense.

Appreciated as always.

P4AU SPOILERS:

I checked out the Malevolent Entity's page on the MegaTen wiki, and it says this about Ultimax: "In Teddie's arcade route, it is revealed that the Malevolent Entity is masquerading as "General Teddie" during the P-1 Climax, and is "feigning cooperation" with Sho Minazuki until he obtains his "one true vessel."" That would seem to confirm that Sho is in fact the Eerie Voice from Arena, and the ME is still searching for the perfect vessel. There could, of course, be something else at play-- Minazuki might not be the ME at all. Depending on who Sho is - and there's at least some possibility that he's a Kirijo anti-shadow weapon - Minazuki might just be connected to that fact. Like, for instance, Sho may not have his Plume of Dusk, or it might not be active. If that changes, then he becomes Minazuki? Which means that ME could come into play in a different way... such as, perhaps, using Makoto? That's the only thing I can think of that would make sense as a "perfect vessel" in a game about concluding P3 and P4's stories.

EDIT (MORE P4A SPOILERS):

So I just watched a couple of the Arena endings, and the ME definitely refers to a "foolish human" that it's working with to achieve its goals. Which means that if Sho is the Eerie Voice, then he's human, not a Kirijo robot. Now I'm even more confused, since his eyes definitely have that Aigis/Labrys effect to them. Welp, I still think that Minazuki's trailer should help shed some light on this, but I wouldn't be surprised if we don't get a clear idea of any of this until the game launches.

I guess, like you say, it's about the presentation.

When does the P4 protagonist say it though? I genuinely don't remember him mentioning friendships or bonds or whatever.

That's because none of it was present in P4, IIRC. That aspect of their character was added in P4G

(Major P4 spoilers)

[1]
[2] (That Shonen Jump reference)
[3] (Zinnnnngoooooooo)
[4]
[5]

It's handled in a clever, tongue-in cheek fashion instead of the overt "bonds and friendship are WEAK man."

To add even more confusion, just look at Narukami's eyes in the P4AU Character website.

Yep, all of that have been details people have been speculating on since P4AU's release, but this point doesn't work because Aigis and Labrys detect the Plume of Dusk from normal Sho (see: P4AU Labrys trailer, Aigis win/story quote, Labrys story).

Also, we already know that Persona Sho is a completely separate physical entity from normal Sho (see: Sho vs. Persona Sho win quote, official P4AU media descriptions).

Persona Sho's trailer will probably clear some minor things up, but probably not much. There are a lot more unanswered questions aside from Sho, as well, and they're all probably things that they obviously wouldn't be revealing until the game's out so we can experience the story ourselves.

Yeah, Soejima has used that double-iris for Narukami before (it was the same in Arena as I recall). I meant more that Sho has the same blue effect coming off of his eyes on the Ultimax main page that Aigis has in the graphic of her suplexing Narukami.

And honestly, that's for the best. I just want the game to come out now! XD

If anyone wants in on the Yosuke podcast, we're recoding it this Saturday at 1 pm PST. Coldman and Ron are going to be on, but we need one or two more panelists if anyone is up for it.

EDIT: To clarify, we're talking about the character and how people feel about the whole homophobic arguement lobbied at him. Not a Yuri interview or anything.

Like I've mentioned before, this doesn't mean anything. Narukami has this too.

Unless it's just an effect for the website, but it seems deliberate. Plus, as Flux pointed out, there's something about a Plume of Dusk and Sho in the arcade modes.

I think I was originally going to be one of the ones on it, but that time is bad for me, so sorry. If you can't get anyone by tomorrow, I can cancel some things and be able to make it on.

Would love to go on and shoot with you guys, but I got work :(. That and I dont think id be the best representative for Yosuke. I dont really like, dislike or have anything really to say on the character.

If you ever do a Narukami, Yukiko, Chie, or Kanji ep, let me know :p

Just finished listening the art one. That was fantastic, thanks a lot to you and the rest of the team. And Jintor was awesome.
As someone who has also worked as an artist on games I would have loved to appear on that one, the problem is that being spanish my english accent is really crappy. lol

Still I love hearing them while drawing, they make my day more enjoyable.
