Persona Community Thread |OT8| Coming Winter 2014

Oh, I knew that the vocaloids had their voices derived from real people, but I somehow didn't think that Saki Fujita was supposed to be the "Miku" voice until I checked just now. Huh, does that mean she gets credited every time "Miku" performs anywhere? Interesting.

IIRC, the Miku rhythm games always credit the voice providers, at least.

Yeah, listening to PV02's music some more, you can totally hear where Lyn's voice will fit in. It's definitely the battle theme.

PV03's is most likely the boss theme, as most everyone has predicted. I have a harder time seeing Lyn's voice in that song, so I think it might be straight instrumental. We'll see. There could always be more than one singer in this game, like with P3.

So this host in front of a host club seems to be
someone you can interact with. I could see an S. Link revolve around that theme and personal story.

I think it's instrumental too. I'll Face Myself, Fog, The Almighty kind of thing. Maybe if there's a vocal sound element to P5 it'll be thrown in there like the bits of vocals in P3's boss/battle themes.

I know this is too early but do you guys think they'll re-use the same engine for future titles?

P5's engine? Unless P5's engine is completely useless and terrible to work with
like Luminous Studio
, I can't see how they wouldn't use their own engine after working on it for at least five years.

If there's one thing Atlus are good at, it's reusing assets. I'm sure we'll be seeing P5 assets reused for many years.

On that note: I'm kind of surprised we haven't seen another SMT IV style game.

Definitely. Especially all those HD demons and stuff...boy...for all the time and effort they spent on making the assets, it would be a waste if it wasn't utilized in some other forms.

I think I remember reading that remodeling all the demons in HD was one of the big hurdles in P5's development, heh

I certainly hope they'll use those models in some more games. Maybe a SMT V? I dunno

Another thing I noticed but wasn't really touched on in here is that the Palace shows up
exactly where the school is, just like Tararus. However, looked like it was happening during the day. I'm assuming it's a thing that only MC and his allies can see, but I'm wondering what causes it.

The other thing was how it looks like MC
has an app for his phone that lets him find openings or connections to the Palace as well.

EDIT: Spoilered, but I'm still not sure what we spoiler and what we do not.

you might want to spoiler tag somethings.
Obviously very interested at what causes the Palace to appear and how Morgana is related to it. The app is also interesting. Maybe someone makes it for the team?

That's what the subbed version of the trailer implies at least.
They acquire some means to enter the Palace at any time.

I'd guess that Morgana is there to steal the heart and then runs into the MC and Ryuji. Similar to Teddie residing in the TV world and trying to figure out what's going on.

One thing that I'm waiting to see be discerned is
what the Palace really is. I believe that the Castle is just one area in the alternate world "Palace", and not literally the Palace itself, as we obviously see things that are much more diverse than the Castle, like an Art Gallery, which probably includes the paintings and all, a Casino, and a Space Station.

There's also another scene later where it shows the scene of one slick-haired guy morphing into a monster(the fly-wings bursting out of his back and all), and gangster-ish, human guys running away in the same place. So, does that mean regular humans can accidentally go into or be dragged into the Palace?

There was also still the scene from PV 2 where we literally see guys morph into Shadows in the casino...

...There really was ALOT of stuff in that trailer. There's waaaaayyy more I noticed in it but obviously this isn't a story speculation thread. Nor do I wanna focus on it 'cuz dissecting and guessing every single bit about the game already would suck. Especially if anything ends up being right.

I'm just hoping Atlus keeps a lot of it hidden. I really don't want to have to try to force myself to go on a blackout
and then have it spoiled by random people on the Internet.

Also noticing this one seems like it will have a ton more animated cutscenes than 3 and 4 did. And in much higher quality, yay.

I got the art book.

I wasn't expecting too much, but there's actually some really cool stuff in here. It has a nice amount of cool concept art. It has that common concept which was in the PQ art book of each character commenting on another (Reminder: Persona Q: Official Visual Materials is slated for a Summer 2016 release). It's way more complete than some I thought it would be; thought this was gonna be P4AU Official Design Works redux.

Did you know that P4D's Hatsune Miku was voiced by Saki Fujita? I didn't. I thought it was just a robot.
What was up with the p4au book? Rehash of the p4a?

Wasn't Nocturne's art assets used for literally every PS2 SMT game? I'm pretty sure when PV1 came out people were commenting on how P5 could easily be an asset dump for future games.

The P4AU Official Design Works is a whole lot of bloat without much meaningful content. A bunch of huge art you've already seen plenty of in the game itself and from the P4A art book, and there's no insight regarding anything (there's no text at all except for a couple of paragraphs at the very end).

The good P4AU art book was the P4U&P4U2 Super Official Design Works, which has a ton of insight regarding P4AU's specific sprites and designs, a whole new developer interview and other cool stuff.

It's cool that the one who suggested the highway ice skating bit was the anime director, because that's probably my favorite part of the opening.

Yep, all of them used a variation of the Nocturne engine iirc. ATLUS is pretty good at making art and engine assets go a long way in their favor, so we'll probably see a few more SMT games on the PS3/PS4 in the future.

Problem with the P5 theme demo is that she isn't singing with enough power. More than P3/P4, this instrumental is really strong and fast. She doesn't seem to lose the fight until the chorus hits and she's drowned out. I'm sure the final version will resolve this though (she could also be saving the oomph for the final chorus - lots of songs do that).

Everyone talking about the oomph, I'm sure her voice will be louder when it's properly mixed with the music. I mean you can hear background noises and people talking in the version in the stream.

Guys, I can't stop listening to the music for this game.

We have like, a year to go.

Guys, help.

No need to worry about it for now. I know all about being ultra obsessive about a game you're dying to play, and there's nothing wrong with obsessing over the stuff we have now. The thing is, you definitely need to leave once we start getting legit info. Like at some point, don't even look into this thread. Just bail.

I just feel like even PV03 started getting into the meat of the game. I feel like at this point, I've seen as much of this game as I had for P4 or P3 before I played them. However, as I said, we've got a year to go, which means they're definitely going to have to release more stuff for promotion. Famitsu scoops, hands on impressions at shows, and at least one more trailer. Gonna take a lot of effort to ignore all that.

I haven't shied away from spoilers in recent years. Worked out for me so far.

I never do, I'm bad at looking up everything I can. But then I always kind of regret it. A lot of my favorite games are actually things I just kind of waltzed in on with out much knowledge... like Persona.

Totally know what you mean. You want to know everything you can about an upcoming game, but at the same time you don't because you want to keep most a surprise.

I generally try to only watch/read official trailers, videos and info, which usually has a good balance of hyping things up while still keeping stuff a secret. Especially after looking up Persona 4 wallpapers basically spoiled
the perpetrator
to me.

If you listen to it too much, you might get sick of the music before the game even arrives!

hah. I've listened to the P3 and P4 soundtracks extensively and I still can't get bored of it. So great. Been pretty much listening to that "boss battle" theme on replay.

so, what do you guys think. On what pattern could they possible go to release new stuff. I am sure it will still take a while before they actually regulary release new stuff, but what could be their pattern this time around?

News in famitsu this week -> Website revamp on Friday/next Friday -> Silence until 2016 -> Another event early 2016, maybe another Super Live style concert, with PV4 and a release date -> Weekly trailers and updates until release.

Just a guess. They might not go silent at all, we might start getting occasional famitsu features or something like that. There's a Persona Magazine due early next year, or at least I think it was, so they'll probably have something else before that point.

edit: actually, the P-Magazine is due later this year, which is odd in light of the delay. I'd assume that it will coincide with something though, or it might just end up delayed too.

Watch the P-Magazine secretly come with download codes for a demo!

This is what I expect to happen as well. What I'm more curious about is at what point we will hear more from the localized version. Considering P5 actually made it on the stage show during PSX last year I was hoping there'd be something then, but since it seems more likely to me that they'll go silent in Japan until 2016, I'm not holding my breath.

It could get a mention, but there's not really much point if they don't have any new news or new trailer, like last year was to announce the PS4 version getting localised. And unlike Pv1, they can't really show PV3 without dubbing it, which they might not be far along enough to do yet.

Although the dub cast would be a neat thing to reveal if they can.

P4D reviews (NA version) are hitting tomorrow if you're in to that sort of thing.

Yeah, curious to see how this one has been received.

Actually, since I'm not embargoed, I officially give P4D a 3.14159265359/4, and there's nothing you can do to stop me :p

Yeah, without anything new to talk about, there's really no reason for them to bring it up. Based on how far I wanna go into delusional fan territory though, I could think of a couple things that would be cool to see announced at PSX, like the dub cast or even a simultaneous release date. But it's a lot more likely we won't see/hear the localized version until after a Japanese release date is announced.

So, I have a theory about a potential plot point in Persona 5. However, I want to warn people. It can have potentially major spoilers. Please do not hover over it unless you absolutely want to.

So, during TGS 2015, ATLUS told us to "catch" the Phantom Thieves before they could steal the broadcast. We "did" that, yet they still "stole" the broadcast at the special stage on the 19th, hijacking it with the P5MC relaying a message.

Now, in PV#03, there are two interesting things.

First, is this image: http://puu.sh/kjJko/8b9a687cd5.png

On the top-right monitor, if you look closely, it states: "The case relating to the Phantom Thieves has been resolved." in Japanese as subtitles to the broadcast.

Now, then you see this: http://puu.sh/kjJo1/0d338d620e.png

That's P5MC on the same monitor as that broadcast. My theory is that he takes over the broadcast to tell everyone that the news reports are wrong, and that no one has successfully captured him. This most likely causes the protestors to get angry, as we see by them holding up those signs.

So, in a way, we can say that TGS 2015 foreshadowed an actual event in the game.

As far as Persona OPs go, I think P5 is my favorite. I realize that we haven't gotten the full thing yet, but I gotta say I really, really dig it.

That's saying a lot! It's great though, I agree.

I think I was in the same space as Sophia. Knowing what the genre is like I had already worked out what the song inevitably sound like.

P4D reviews (NA version) are hitting tomorrow if you're in to that sort of thing.

Im looking forward to the game and the S. Link FM review!!

I'm serious, I have no idea what Kyle wrote.
