I have posted my dog in the old thread.

Sooooo cute! ^_^

Maine Coons are such awesome cats, but they love to get into trouble. Hide all rolls of toiler paper and paper towels in high cabinets. They should be safe, but they do figure out how to open cabinets eventually, and then you're screwed.

Is it safe to bring a very small kitten into a house with the cat who is about 6 years old, and has never interacted with other animals before? Will she become jealous?

The cat is fine with me, but before I got her she was a street cat, and was not able to coexist with the other cats at the 'shelter'. She's always been strange and moody.

I was thinking that giving her a sort of child to look after would bring some purpose to her life rather than following me around waiting for the next meal and bowel movement. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I might be wrong, but from my experience adult cats might scratch the eyes of other adult cats open, but they are very patient with kittens. It's like how cats and dogs endure the torture some toddlers put them through, while they wouldn't take it from an adult man/woman.

I'd "test" it first. Just put the kitten next to your cat and see what happens. If she starts getting agressive, than maybe it's not a good idea.

I used to have some too, they are quite good pets but they have huge balls and piss on your hands.
That's why i have only female rats. And my rats peed on me when they were little, but they somehow understood that it's bad doing so and try to not do it when they are jumping around in my shirt :D

hmm, well once I get the kitten, I have to keep it. I've never seen my cat get aggressive, she's just not that cuddly. I did see a lot of 'emotion' the other day when I was watching a cat program on Discovery. She was stunned, especially when she saw some kittens. I didn't know cats could recognize things thru the TV. I thought she was going to try to go thru it!

Heh, I don't want to be the one making you get the little kitten, but I personally would do it.

My sister has a cat, but because my sis isn't home that much the cat had gotten pretty lonely, and she got scared of people more and more too. So to do something about that, my sis got a kitten. At first the big cat was upset because she had to share my sisters attention with the kitten, but the "worst" she did was ignore the little fluffy ball.
Now they're best buddies. Wash eachother, "protect" eachother, play together. Cute :)

My cat Phoebe.

Here we see her sitting in a shoebox lid gazing wistfully out the window. What we cannot see is the nice comfy cat pillow situated to her immediate left.

She also does not like to be held. My wife helps illustrate this character flaw.

I was getting too hot from one of my cats lying on me, so I started taking pictures of her to get her off:

I got up to take a picture of the other one so she wouldn't feel left out:

But after I sat back down, she decided she wanted to cuddle too!
