Anyone else notice the hand-wavers' staking their concerns that this is "too right vs left" or Campo Santo is sending DMCAs based on "personal politics?" They probably don't even realize by saying that they are, in effect, stating that the right wants to be grossly racist and the left doesn't think that's cool. It is actually that out in the open. And more than that, both sides of that line should be respected.

They should regulate these channels much harder. It's the platform providers that enable this shit. That's the real problem.

It's really depressing to see how far Pewdiepie have fallen. I remember watching him years ago when his channel was just focusing on horror games and his goofy reactions. Then little by little, as he became more popular, the content started to change into some kind of meme-fest for teenagers into what it is today. I just realized the other day when a friend linked me a video of his that "oh right, he's still doing stuff and for some reason he's extremely popular". And like many other Youtubers he have turned into some alt-right spokesperson that mask their racist and shitty agenda behind some flimsy "free speech"-bullshit.

This has nothing to do with "shitty humor".
Plus his bullshit laughing response about it shortly afterwards, talking about how nobody can touch him, shows that he knows goddamn well that he was in the wrong.
He tried to cover it up poorly and when that failed he did a better job of PR. There's really not all that much of a difference when it comes down to it, I don't think it's cool in either situation and if I get the boot for saying that so be it.

I'm sorry to say, but that makes you racist. There is no "both sides" argument to any of this. This is a scenario where it is impossible to be neutral.

- It means you are ok with the fact that people who are the targets of said racism have to continually endure the mental/physical scars and suffering of racism.
- It means you prefer the targets of said racist behaviour feel uncomfortable instead of challenging those who are racist and making them feel uncomfortable... God forbid you question the racists and make them feel uncomfortable.

Bottom line, I agree, he shouldn't have said it. It was tactless, it wasn't funny. And that's all there is to it from someone around here.
When you have people in this very forum thinking "Meh, there's nothing wrong with saying nigger" then yes, there's shit to discuss.
These top youtubers have to stick together. PDP is the most subbed person on the platform. If everyone calls him out and holds him accountable, then surely whatever consequences befall him is going to set a precedent and create a trickle down effect.
These are the same youtubers who are pissed at WSJ for kicking off the Ad-pocalypse that involved an issue that was sparked by PDP's antics
They know if they don't stand by PDP or at least remain complicit, that it has the means to affect their bottom line and their livelihood.

YouTube would happily do nothing if there wasn't a massive reaction. Don't expect them to do the right thing on their own. They have a history of not acting when they should, or going after the wrong people.
