China recently hosted its largest games exhibition, ChinaJoy 2024, where the most interesting new projects from local developers were presented. Apparently, gamers were most interested in the dark action games Black Myth: Wukong and Phantom Blade Zero.

Both games were presented at the event on behalf of PlayStation, which caused some discontent among gamers, which the developers themselves were quick to dispel. The creators of Black Myth: Wukong and Phantom Blade Zero said they had no exclusivity agreements with Sony.

Journalists attending the ChinaJoy exhibition were able to communicate with representatives from Game Science and S-GAME studios, where they addressed the issue of exclusivity for the PS5. According to the developers, they are indeed working closely with the PlayStation games division. The company offers comprehensive support in promoting games in China and abroad. In a way, Sony is the publisher of Black Myth: Wukong and Phantom Blade Zero, the authors note. However, this collaboration imposes no obligations on the teams. The developers decide independently which platforms they will release their games on and, at the moment, the most promising for release are PC and PS5.

One of the developers of Phantom Blade Zero, who wished to remain anonymous,
also noted that PlayStation helps a lot of studios in the area of testing. The company provides special debugging tools and even its own engineers. According to him, these employees are also helping with PC optimization alongside the PS5 version.

When asked why his studio doesn't want to release the action game on Xbox, he replied that "nobody needs this platform". According to the developer, the console is not popular in Asia and, in addition, Microsoft has created a very overloaded ecosystem for which it is difficult to develop games.

But if the next xbox plays steam games. Will it all of a sudden be easy to develop for xbox?
Will phil spencer stop lying? Will sarah bond smack that booty?

Tune in next week for another exciting episode of The X Files.

Well, at least they have an ecosystem - unlike the convoluted mess that their competitors have on offer.

I thought that according to some highly respected Gaffers, Xbox is going to make a major comeback in 2026?
I'm not even convinced there is going to even be another actual Xbox again.

I know they have said as much, but let's be real...they are full of shit 90% of the time.

If he's trying to say its a lack of audience in Asia, thats definitely true. If they cant optimize enough to even get it on Series S they are probably barely getting this thing together. Doesn't sound like they have a lot of experience with PC even. Guess we'll see.

Asian Devs generally don't have Twitter accounts so they can just say their truth without needing to care about the fanboy harassment.

How long until Jez comes out with an article saying Sony could have paid them?

It's probably true that they're skipping Xbox because of lack of interest, but this article seems fishy as fuck. Anonymous dev and anonymous journalist that doesn't work for this website, tipped this guy off? Sure.

Wukong has not even been at a Sony show like state of play. They are seemingly completely in bed with Nvidia. To say PlayStation is acting like their publisher makes no sense.

Nvidia is gonna use this game to market their new cards and is giving it away with RTX cards now. If they're working closely with anyone it's them. I don't even think we have ever seen this game running on a ps5. If Sony was "acting like their publisher" they wouldn't be constantly showing off features that won't be present on ps5.

The typical literal and dilapidated phrase in quotes from the famous and super-known anonymous developer who talks shit about XBOX and that is published in the random media on duty...It is more than enough to give it 100% absolute veracity.🤷🏻

It is truthfulness, Xbox doesn't sell well in Asia, fact.

Its also just a weird translation, assuming any of it is even true. Someone who speaks English could have said no one here needs porting to that platform. Only a true fanboy retard developer like the Quantum Error devs would come out and say no one needs an Xbox. Its just clickbait.

They are talking facts, it doesn't sell well in Asia.
I don't know if the dev said the other part or it's just what the person writing the shit is inferring, though that would be true in most cases as well, it's unneeded extra dev time for the S version.
