Photos of Xbox's "Project Kennan"

I feel like this will be the most comfortable to hold.

I've been waiting to get myself a handheld and the ergonomics look like it will be the most comfortable, so I'm going to keep an eye out on this.

Rog Ally 2 running the new XboxOS?

I have no interest in handheld PCs but im curious to see how/if Microsoft makes a lean Windows OS for these handhelds and if itll be possible to use the OS on desktops.

Call it 'Project BOMB' because this hunk of crap is going to bomb the xbox brand even further into the abyss. No one is going to buy this overpriced piece of crap, just like no one is buying the series s/x. Once you decided to go third party, you essentially lost all semblance of consumer faith in your hardware and in your brand.

…it's not a console. It's a PC handheld that runs Steam, GOG, Windows store etc.

It's the next ROG Ally. None of these are meant as major mass market sellers.

What does 'third party' have to do with this? its a PC!

It will be glorious for all 1.5 hours that it will last on a battery. 36 watt APU is no joke.

Just make the grips from Elite 2/Core controllers. Solid xbox design feel, great placement, paddles that feel good but don't fuck up the bumpers or buttons.

Make a premium edition with replaceable thumbsticks etc.

Ally Extreme lasts exactly 1.6 hours in Gaming battery life even in your tests, lol.

This is just one of the products. Project Kennan is the fat design the other product, Project Kel, is the slimmer one.

Really hope it is customisable. I've seen videos of people customising their Steam Deck and replacing the sticks with hall effect ones.

It better be possible on this one too, but otherwise, the grips look comfortable so I'm really curious on that.

A shame it doesn't look like it has 2 paddles on each side like the Steam Deck.

I posted the wrong link. Meant to share for the Ally X. Asus has started the trend of using a bigger, more dense battery to compensate for the more powerful chip. Respectable battery life as a result

Yeah. Price could be problematic but if it ships with anything like a windows it's dead. I'm just thinking even Phil has said, can't quite remember the interview, that windows normal OS is holding the mobile experience back so I'd imagine this was a priority.
"special" handeld friendly windows is something I will believe when I see it. This is not the first iteration of windows handhelds and if it wasn't for steam big picture or even bazite / steam os, the user experience would be pretty shit. Honestly the price point will always be high regardless as Asus does not make a cut on games sold, so hardware is sold as a premium, so this is priced outside the typical console range.

I've seen a lot of wishcasting on such product, most of them seem completely delusional. Zero chances it's anywhere in the realm of Steam deck price + usability. So anyone interested in such products, would already have bought them before the tariff war stupidity came to play.

I mean, if it's a large spec bump over the original ally...I'm there day one
Z2 extreme + 64gb. Is a large specs bump.... and surely in price.
"Indonesian publication 91Mobiles found a certification for a new ASUS handheld at the local certification company for two different models: the RC73XA and the RC73YA."

"The white one seems to be the regular Asus ROG Ally 2, while the black one appears to feature an Xbox button and could therefore be the Xbox branded handheld."

White = ROG Ally 2
Black = ROG Ally 2 with Xbox Branding
I recommend you read the leak article.... The specs of Kennan vs Rog Ally 2 would be very different.

No, I think there are TWO ROG Ally 2 designs.

So it'll be like this:

ROG Ally 2 (cheaper, not Z2 E)
ROG Ally 2 Z2 Extreme
ROG Ally 2 Xbox Edition (Z2 Extreme)

similar to the first gen release where we had the Z1 and Z1 Extreme variants of the ROG Ally.

I've seen a lot of wishcasting on such product, most of them seem completely delusional. Zero chances it's anywhere in the realm of Steam deck price + usability.

1TB Deck OLED was $649 compared to $799 for the more powerful Ally X. Not a night and day difference in pricing.

Usability improvements is supposed to be the main draw here.

So anyone interested in such products, would already have bought them before the tariff war stupidity came to play.

How many Z2 Extreme devices are in the market right now?

The ROG Ally and ROG Ally X are fantastically built, I highly doubt this new one will be any different. FCC images generally don't do a product justice.
FCC photos are usually godawflul. I'm sure it will look sleek in real world, Ally is quite a neat device in person.
Hence I said it "looks" cheap and like a prototype.

If this is an official Xbox collab with Asus, it should look better/look Xbox themed. Which it simply does not on these pictures. So, to come back to the prototype part, it seems extremely early stage.

That's when you simply use a lower TDP like 20 or 17 watts. 36 watts is reserved for when it is plugged in. For the ROG Ally X, the 17w TDP allows it to last for 3/3.5 hours on modern AAA games.

Damn.....is this thing a massive finger print magnet or were 10 people trying to play the thing at the same time?

"Our sources indicate that it won't be quite as cheap as the base model Steam Deck, but it won't be as expensive as the Lenovo Legion Go RRP. It'll be somewhere in the middle, with a base model price range of between $499 and $599 potentially."

$800 confirmed

I am definitely gonna buy a z2 extreme handheld this year but not feeling the look of this one. I think lenovo's giant OLED one is the one to get, but pricing will surely be insane.

Soooo... its a ROG Ally. I wonder how much of a performance uplift from the ROG Ally Extreme and the Steam Deck. I'm most definitely interested.

It's just a ROG portable. If was supposed to be a new Xbox, won't be like that

and probably not that ugly
