Physical Releases - News & Discussion Corner |OT| Physical Games Are Dead, Long Live Physical Games

Two recent pickups. I stumbled across Farmagia and thought I would give it a try since Ys Nordics is a disappointment. It's pretty fun! I appreciate how Xseed/Marvelous actually provide an audio CD instead of digital files.

Xenoblade Chronicles… I played about 80% of it on the Wii and never finished. The announcement of X coming to Switch made me finally pull the trigger on buying this edition. I'm crossing my fingers for some sort of Switch 2 "pro patch" to allow this game to run at a higher resolution.

I was at Gamestop earlier today, and while looking at PS5 games...I saw there's a physical of Dustborn. Fucking DUSTBORN??

I'm sorry, but there are so many beloved games that people who prefer physical games wish had a physical version, and yet Dustborn was worthy of a physical release??

Just one new arrival for today, already have the first release but it's nice to have it again with all the additional DLC on the cart. Still an incredible museum compilation, love that it has a bit of everything including prototype games. While i'm not the hugest fan of their home console releases of atari games, their arcade output was simply legendary.

On another note fangamer managed to grab the release of little kitty in the big city, been hoping this would get a physical. They are getting pretty good as they aready managed to grab world of horro & pizza tower.

My latest purchased games, I kind of had the urge to play the Battlefield campaigns again.
Batman is supposed to run unpatched at 60fps and I need to replay these games.
Sleeping Dogs is unavailable on Steam in it's uncut version in my country, so I bought the PEGI Definitive PS4 version.
Too bad the game is locked @30fps but it is certainly good for streaming to the Deck.

Few years ago beat BC and BC2. Especially 2nd has great campaign.

I finished reorganizing my shelves, so I thought I'd take a picture of all the VNs, hybrid VNs, and narrative adventures I've collected so far for the Switch before putting them back on the shelves. I've just as many VNs for PS4, but I'll be sharing those another time.

I still have a bunch of pending orders that are taking quite a bit of time to arrive... but in the meantime, I've snagged these 3 games. Oh, and the 30th anniversary Dualsense arrived as well. :messenger_smirking:

After four years of living in my current house, I finally decided to get my gaming room in order. First shelf is done, it's my "retro" shelf. Yes, there are some Xbox One games here lol

I've spent the past day or so sorting out the rest of my collection - I found a few more retro games, and set up my second shelf as my "modern" shelf.

Retro shelf:
Some of this I can play right away with the Analog Pocket (handhelds) or PC emulation (disc based), the rest I would need to hook up the respective console.

Modern shelf:
Everything that can be played on systems I currently have hooked up.

That leaves my old Switch / PS4 shelf a bit empty. Now it just has a few odds and ends (and needs dusted lol):
Sega stuff, PSP games, PC disk games, and a few other little things here and there.

I just received my last order for this week. All the NA imports that were on their way have also arrived. Oh, and I snagged a couple of cheap Xbox One games and Age of Calamity from a local pawn shop.

I still have several games coming from PlayAsia, and I'll probably be grabbing some stuff from Amazon JP next week as well (a VN, a Vanillaware art book, and Slitterhead).

Nice, my copy of Jusant First Edition still didn't even ship and the Ballast Edition was delayed to next year ... my guess is they will ship both in one box to save on shipping cost.

Nevertheless this is what I got this week:

This looks very clean! Great job on the setup.

Are these media shelves specifically or regular bookshelves?

My latest arrivals, some exclusive physicals from PlayAsia and a couple of local pick-ups.

Still have an order from Japan and also my FANTASIAN pre-order for PS5 which should arrive early next week.

Another cool reason why physical gaming is important.
We CAN not patch the game and sometimes it is a very cool curiosity and interesting playthrough.
Not essentially worse but different. Those who played Elden Ring 1.0 and beaten radahn KNOW.

Then of course soom fools will say "but what point does physical make if You only have bad, bugged version on the disc".
Listen little asshole, whoever you are - I can still patch the game just the same as you. The big difference being that after I patch, I can put on the disc and play offline forever. No need to reauthenticate after 2 weeks or so.

If I had a Switch, S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Legends of the Zone Trilogy would be an absolute must-have for me.

Just saw these new PS5 listings for RE2, RE3, and RE7 at my local specialist retailer. I did wonder why Capcom never did a physical re-release of these games, considering how popular they still are and the fact that they already received digital PS5 versions quite a while ago.

I'm also slightly annoyed as I bought the PS4 physical version of RE3 just last month.
I forgot to thank you for the heads up a long time ago. I have two physical copies of the RE 2R for PS5 pre-ordered. So excited!!

I really want Sony to release a physical version God of War (2018) for PS5 also.
That way I can put it right next to Ragnarok!

Here are probably my last pick-ups for the year. The Fantasian copy was picked locally, while the rest including the Vanillaware artbook are imported from Japan.

Looks like The Precinct will be available day one on physical media. At least in europe.

You can preorder the game from Amazon now.

Looks like the messenger is getting a re-release, the price for this one is insane at the moment but hillariously this new version is £25 and contains all the DLC Looks like all the people that were hoarding and sitting on copies to scalp are going to be crying no longer a £150-£200 title :LOL

Supposedly an ESRB version is also coming, which I will certainly be picking up. I absolutely love this game but would never pay scalper prices - the game is on sale for like $4 all the time digitally so it's pure greed. $30 is very reasonable.

Some new physical releases announced this week:
  • Gal Guardians: Servants of the Dark (Physical Release for PS5 and Switch; no release date though) - Source
  • Nine Sols ((Physical Release for Switch via Fangamer)

Anyone looking for the ESRB version of FFVIIR Intergrade should hop on this pre-order (I think this is the first time the NA version gets reprinted).

Before you ask, yes, the DLC is a voucher code and not on the disc.

Edit: I think there will be listings at other NA retailers as well, including Amazon since this is a reprint done by the publisher.

Oh and btw, the pricing for the ESRB version specfically was bonkers on ebay.

Good stuff here with the RE2 physical release for PS5. Already have the PS4 physical version in my collection but I'll double dip for this new definitive release.

WTF? I don't understand why it costs so much. I remember buying it new for like $50 or something. I sold my PS4 version to upgrade to the PS5 one.
