Yes those are pictures of him coming back to earth... supposedly he leaves Earth on that type of ship and comes back after 5-6 years... Lois is about to be married and has kid...

Plus he wears a black Superman suit...

Brian Singer is also doing a video production diary like Peter Jackson is doing on Kong:

You can see some early designs including the traditional Superman suit in the video.

to be honest, Singer can take whatever liberties he wants to on this one.. if he plays the thing like an alternate future for superman, that is in no way different than what the comics have done any number of times (including recently or right now.. have been out for about half a year or so).. if he holds to the previous movies (which were pretty faithful) he will both be showing respect for the material while at the same time moving it forward...

shots look great.. I just wish we could have Marvel AND DC making great movies at the same time.. now with the FF, Blade3, Elektra, etc it looks like DC will be making the good movies and Marvel will be churning out the crap. :(

Aw, black suit? i just hope it's something similar to Kingdom Come's. That's the greatest suit he's ever worn. They should always consult Alex Ross for these comic book movies. :(

I don't like the ship very much. I don't like the director very much (not based on previous work but based n that clip posted).

It may sound lame, but I loved the sleek look of the Kryptonians from the Superman TV series.

It's the same fucking ship from the original Superman movie, which this movie follows. 1979 Superman >>>>>>>>> any other Superman that came after it.

Which ship was in the comics the Smallville one or the Donner one? I can't seem to find out on the net

Depends on which origin you look at. The design ranges from a rocket ship to a Donner style star.

I noticed they have stills of the Donner's Superman movie hanging on the wall.

Is Singer drawing heavily on the first movie in this onel, or is it:

They are making this movie as part of the series that Donner's movies started so they are using all of the same designs. Basically Superman I and II happened, and Supes has been away for a while.

What III and IV didn't? ;) And what's up with the rumor about using Brando's old extra footage? I think I heard that somewhere a wek or two ago.

Any chance we'll ever see the original version of Superman II? I liked the final version myself despite some warts (the cheesey love story gets more nasueating with each repeat viewing), but I'd love to see what the movie was originally meant to be like.

Donner is supposed to be working on his cut of number 2 for release on DVD. I'd bet it happens before this movie comes out.

$50/hour, but no kissing on the lips and colors must be pre-separated

Spiderman II reminds me alot about Superman II. They're both movies that have the origin stuff out of the way and focus on the man behind the hero and give you a good idea of just how shitty it would likely actually be to a super or spider man.

If I were pete, I'd have stayed in show business. I think after sacrificing himself, that's what my uncle ben would want for me. To make millions and be successful.

They've been filming the Kent farm scenes. The ship matches Donner's almost exactly, which makes sense as Singer has said they aren't going to redo the origin and the movie will exist as if Superman I and II happened before it.

GAH Horrible

BAH!

Sorry but I really like Superman, and I thought the Reeves Movies were fucking HORRIBLE

there should be no connection to them what so ever

IMHO The Ideal Superman is the one that John Byrne set-up that is what a movie or game or tv show or anything should be based upon

how did Singer manager to make X-men movies I could like and then go ahead and fuck up Superman so freaking horribly

Yeah, the similarities are there...again both movies have problems, but on the whole I find them enjoyable.

Only reason I'm not too thrilled about folks saying this new film is a direct sequel to the Donner Superman films of the 70s, is that those movies were based on Pre-Crisis continuity. If that's really the case, then the Kents are long dead, Luthor's a one-dimensional "genius criminal mastermind" villain, Superman was super since birth, and he's got his "I can do anything the writers want" powers working.

As much as I like the 70s films, I don't wanna see Clark spin the Earth to reverse time. o_O

Man, don't be such a frickin' comic nerd all the time.

The Movie Superman was not pre-crisis Superman. He was far weaker, although he did have an amazing ability to invent powers as needed.

Also, teh rebooted Superman borrowed a lot form the films themselves.

If this were precrisis Superman, every thug would have a chunk of Kryptonite, and there would be an army of Superman robots on hand.

(Oh, and only Pa Kent was dead in the movies. Clark still sent money home to mom.)
