Is there any way to finish Eder's quest without having a good reputation in Defiance Bay?

I fear I was caught stealing too many times for it to be possible for me to get a good reputation,even if I complete all of the quests.

If you have might 16, you can force your way.
I haven't tried this yet but I assume that when you use equipment to boost your stat, this counts in conversations as well?

I used
Perception and maybe Lore too, but don't recall,
to solve that dialogue.

Yes. You can use equipment to boost your stats and it'll count in conversation. I've specifically had it happen with resolve (10 -> 11 with bonus) triggering a conversation option.
 
Nah, I still haven't decided on a faction (because they all suck) and I was allowed to do it.

Pretty much.
The dozens are your typical blind mob,the crucible knights are self-righteous pricks and House Doemenel are mobsters(it's much more fun to stand in their way than to help them).

I chose the knights eventually, because their approach to animancy is similiar to my opinion on the subject.

I like how Pallegina is pretty vocal with her opinion on the factions.
When I had finalized my alliance with the Doemenels, she at least on 2 different occasions mentioned that while House Doemenel *is* a group of criminals, they're not nearly as likely to tear Defiance Bay apart in ignorant righteous fury over animancy like Dozens might.
 
Took me a good long while but I finally finished it. Even though it is not another Torment it is an excellent game, and I enjoyed it very much. I'll likely play it gain when they are done patching it.
 
Just got my special ed. box, and it's kinda crappy. The box is huge but the manual is really dinky and not even colour, and the map is super blurry.

I liked the Wasteland 2 box a little bit more. Their manual was full-colour and lore-appropriately spiral-bound.

Chanter, Wizard, Priest has been a fun starting group, eesh, what a mess. Finally have a semi-decent rhythym with some of the stuns/disables/freezes available to me but that was a frustrating first couple of levels trying to do the Gilded Vale temple and various outdoor areas, getting absolutely destroyed by four boars, etc. Not fun.

I still don't know if I did something wrong where my fighter + rogue companion from the intro got killed during the storyline kickoff? It seems weird to expect everyone who doesn't have a tank to hire someone for a bunch of copper at the first inn? Yeah, the quality of the materials are really shitty.

I was going to ask to put up my physical goods as auction material for Desert Bus, but that isn't even an option anymore.

EDIT: I just did the Cinders of faith sidequest with my lvl 5 party. Never would have won that fight either without my tank-blocking strategy.
 
I finished the game the other day and I loved it. I clocked about 37 hours, though I felt the game lost a little steam towards the end (probably partially because I hit the level cap and lost a lot of incentive to do side quests at the end, either some of the XP awards for the warden kills should of been lower or the level cap should of been a level or two higher. Also Twin Elms wasn't as impressive as Defiance Bay).

Overall I really enjoyed the game and it's pretty much exactly what I wanted from a modern Infinity Engine type of game. I'm looking forward to the expansion and any possible sequels.
 
You can use the NPC portraits for custom adventurers by simply copy-pasting them in the right folder.
I've found both Icewind dale and BGII portrait packages.

Does anyone have experience with importing Baldur's gate I portraits ?

Oh yes thats a very good one. A couple of others might be
The stronghold lady
and
twin elm sisters. Same portrait but flipped.

If the heads of the three factions had them I might have cared more.
 
Is there any real incentive to finish up the bounties if you're at the level cap? Do they give gear? I think this might be the one bit of content I skip en route to the end.

Also, they should really force conversation with Eder after
you talk to the dead dwarf

I rapidly found 2 new companions. A druid and a cipher. The cipher is pretty cool but creepy as fuck and I'm a little suspect of betrayal. Mean while the druid seems kind of interesting as well. I have too many companions though and am having difficulty with who to bench away. Edur is hard to replace in battle as well since no one else can hold and smash as well as him in my party. Kind of want to bench P

last night on my barb playthrough. I'm starting to really like Barb, and I don't even have any cool weapons yet. His total damage done is so god damn high with those carnage hits. High int/might/dex really is the way to go.

When I ever do a third playthrough as a cipher, I'll probably do death godlike because I was never too impressed by the helmet options in the game. My first playthrough was as a fire godlike and I never felt like I was missing out on anything.

Talk to the druid and ask him about what he thinks of your companions.
 
What does escorting a bad guest in your stronghold actually do?

Gets rid of them (and the prestige penalty) without spending money. But it's not a lot of money anyway, so.... *shrug*

EDIT: & takes the escort out of your pool of available characters for a while, of course
 
I never really figured out what having high prestige actually does for you. Does it make it more likely/frequent for like special vendors to show up?
 
I think you get better visitors and adventures with higher prestige.

I think you also get higher chance of bandits etc

Im mostly good in my playthrough so I was thinking the Knights but they are FOR the animancy and im totally against, and the two other factions looks like they are evils ? or there is one evils and one neutral ? Will it change something if my character is mostly good ? I want to pick up the character Pallegina but she's with the Knights no ? will it change something if I don't pick the Knights as a faction ?

Pallegina is with the Embassy there in town and turns up after an unrelated sidequest. I don't think you can shut yourself out of that.

I think the main consequence of your choice is that you can't do quests for the other factions after a certain point. They will also think you are a "rascal" or "troublemaker," which is kind of awesome.

Beyond the quests and rewards, I'm not aware of any other implications. Your reputation in Defiance Bay is calculated separately. Unless you want to research the specific quests,
I'd say just roleplay what feels right for you.

(Others will hopefully chime in if I'm wrong)

I bought a level one adventurer whose sole purpose is to escort bad people out. A 250 one time fee is a lot cheaper than continually paying people off.

I didn't do that specifically, because early on I didn't know if those missions could succeed/fail. I did, however hire a fighter as early as I could, and kept her around until I had five companions. By the time I had the stronghold going, she was on escort duty. Felt like she had enough levels to avoid failure.

The failure that was, of course, only possible in my imagination <_<

I still don't know why your benchwarmers and retainers can't handle a skeleton trash mob without breaking some of your stronghold enhancements
 
Started this recently. Opened up the stronghold and saw the Gaf Inn today.

The difficulty has been very up and down for me. I'll spend around 90 minutes being disappointed about the game letting me get away with super sloppy play, and then I open a door and my party falls over.

(Not a complaint, those fights usually end up being amazing)
 
Nearing the final, planning to knock out all the sidequests first. Act3 spoilers:
Some of the quests there are just plain... unfair? 19 resolve or 19 intellect or Grieving Mother leaves your party? Good luck with that. Or the one of the god quests being "kill this guy and everyone else". And one quest in the frozen place that seems impossible unless you are willing to make the guards mad. Act 3 is sort of disappointing at places, but I really like the game anyway.

you can sneak to the lader in the frozen place, not really a problem. the patrols patrol a lot

Wow wow wow. What?!

I don't remember that happening, I am almost positive there are folks who had less than 19 int/resolve and didn't experience that either.

Baby stealing quest I think. If you don't make those checks you have to either steal and kill a baby and Grieving Mother threatens to leave or kill a whole bunch of people.
