Wow.
So this might actually flop @ the box office then?
Okay, maybe I overshot it a little bit. But you have to admit that this series elicits more groans than anything when they announce a new one.

Is no one touching on the garbage that came after the 3rd?
Why the fuck are they still making these?
1 = $654,000,000Why the fuck are they still making these?
Reviews don't always correlate to box office performance.
On Stranger Tides (the fourth one) has a 32 on Rotten Tomatoes and is the second highest grossing film in the series with over 1 billion at the WW box office.
Because they make these decisions based on how successful the last movie was, not whether or not Shannyboi on NeoGAF enjoyed it.![]()
That mess didn't really make that much money did it?!
1 = $654,000,000
2 = $1,066,000,000
3 = $966,000,000
4 = $1,045,000,000
8.4 on imdb though, almost 3k votes
that would probably mean like a 7.5 for me, that's good enough![]()
They make a lot of money but if I'm not mistaken they're also some of the most expensive films ever.
I'm sure they make a profit even after Hollywood accounting, but it seems like they are getting riskier as time goes by.
This is false.Like...the Transformers series has a better reputation than Pirates of the Caribbean.
This is true.The first Pirates movie is better than the first Transformers movie.
My dude are you really taking imdb user scores seriously?

4 was intended to be cheaper but funny enough ended up being like the most expensive ever.
Completely crazy because you can't see where the hell that money went, at least in 2&3 you could.

i generally agree with their scores more often than rottentomatoes
I cannot imagine a reality in which Pirates 5 bombs as hard as King Arthur.
I recall reading 4 went over budget due to the ship they built, it was pretty massive.
the budget for 5 is absolutely insane. It was budgeting at $250m, it went $70m OVER BUDGET and is currently at $320m production budget plus god knows how much spent on marketing, at least $100m. Its gonna be interesting to see which is a bigger bomb this year, King Arthur or Pirates 5.

Weirdly this one doesn't even have a legitimate toyline.Yea, but you need to look at the bigger picture. They sell tons of merchandise and hype people to visit one on the Disney parks to see th ride and spend even more money.

Orlando Bloom was on Fallon and they played a clip with Will. Even if the movie isn't great, it was cool seeing him again and hearing some music from Dead Man's Chest.
Which is odd for that movie.RT's now at 30%. Was expecting some more positive reviews to come up over the week and push it up like they did to Boss Baby (which, looking back at it, is one heck of a anomaly TBH), but the the oncoming reviews seems definitely skewed towards the negative side.
Film will literally sink or swim on WOM now. Breaking even on that $230M budget will be one hell of an uphill battle, and if it doesn't.....woof.
This movie felt 8 hours long
I couldn't believe it
How many scenes did Keira Knightley have? And what were the scenes?
