This series is review-proof as far as I'm concerned. Dead Man's Chest has a 54% and I love that movie. So I'm still there on Thursday night for this one.

Wtf, that movie's great
54%?! But that's the best one!
Those people are crazy, they are far from the worst movies ever. They may not be great, but not abysmal or anything like that.I like 2 and 3 a lot, some act like they're the worst movies ever. So yeah, eh, I don't really care or expected good reviews.
Wtf, that movie's great
It's not, but it's the best sequel compared to the rest.Wtf, that movie's great

I seriously wonder why this series can't have more than 1 great movie. It's like each movie got worse than the last one but the 5th one may be better than the 4th one at least.
Oh yeah, I heard about that. That's what makes the 1st one so surprising. They are based on an amusement park ride. It's a miracle that there was one good one.
And to conclude my ongoing rewatch thread from the other topic, I just saw 3 -- again, for the first time since theaters like the other two -- and yeah, good movie. 3>2>1.
I know how ridiculous that ranking will appear to folks, and I'll own it. 1 is decent, but a lot of the humor in these movies doesn't do anything for me, and 1 had the most. Couple that with my love for bigger scope/lore/etc, and a seriously improved Elizabeth in 3, and I arrive at this wonky conclusion.
The thing is though, their tomato meter is front and center. That's what they highlight. So even if they have other means, it's not what most people see. And it ends up being the tomatometer, not a score, that's highlighted in these threads and later conversation, impacting people's opinion of the movie.Thankfully RT has 3 different scores to get a decent picture and all of them are put in the same place for convenience.
I went to see Alien: Covenant this weekend. I saw that it had a 72% on RT before going. Seems good, right? It also had an average rating of 6/10 on the same site. This indicates that while the majority of people liked the movie, they also didn't think it was that great. It was full of "eh, this is OK" reviews. Turns out that's a pretty accurate description of the movie.
IMDb settles around 7/10 for every blockbuster. If you think that matches up with the movie, you're only looking up movies that you like.

The 3rd movie was always my favorite.
Elizabeth was so good in it and Keira was always my main draw.
The tease of Barbosa being alive was hype as hell on release weekend. At least for me.Sucks, OG and parts of last two in the trilogy are great.
Dead Man's Chest still has one of the best cliffhangers of all time.
Friend saw it. Says it was a 5/10.
I'm not super hyped for it.
I dont get how/ where this Dead Men Chest hate started.

Aren't Orlando Bloom and Kiera Knightley in this? Why are the discount versions being shown on that poster instead?
Still remember how much this killed at the midnight screening. Overall, that showing is still one of the most fun times I've ever had in theaters, crowd was so hyped and with the movie.Really enjoyed the first POTC - came out of nowhere [no expectations etc] and went on to re-invent the pirate film genre.
Talking of DMC - this has to be the best introduction to a hero ever. In the history of best introductions to a hero ever.)
First Appearance of Jack Sparrow on Dead man's Chest
Love it when the musical score kicks in.
The bone ball cage and the water wheel sword fight. Pure cringe.
Those are highlights bro.
I remember the ball cage getting a good laugh with the music.
Everyone was hyped at Barbosa being alive.
If I'm remembering correctly, they didn't even tell the other actors it was him, so they could get real surprised reactions.
This series needs to be put out of its misery. Each new entry just hurts its reputation more and more.
