Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (Salazar's Revenge) - Reviews

Saw a comedic bit from the movie yesterday involving a toenail being ripped off so it can be used as a lockpick.

RT score making sense so far.

This was a hell of a lot better than the last one and felt like a much better continuation of 2 and 3.

If you didn't like those you probably won't like this, but I didn't have too much of a problem with them.

Over that? It's not even remotely some big deal in the movie.

Sounds good to me. I love the first 3.

Never said it was a big deal, just a really bad joke and seeing the aggregate doesn't lead me to believe it's a exception in the quality of the movie.

It's actually not a scene that stuck with me, and I wouldn't say it's representative of the thing as a whole. Movie got a lot of laughs at my screening.

There's a part with a
guillotine
that is fucking hilarious.

UPDATED 12:10 PM: Matinee grosses are starting to come in and so far the fifth installment of Disney's, Jerry Bruckheimer and Johnny Depp's Pirates franchise is playing well. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is on track to take in about $24M to $26M today — that includes the $5.5M it grossed in previews last night. So that means that right now, it's estimated to take around $65M for the three-day with a four-day weekend of right around $75M to $80M. On the flipside, Paramount Pictures' R-rated hopeful Baywatch may only take in $6.5M to $7M today with a four-day holiday of $23M to $24M and a five-day cume right around what we said this AM: $27M to $29M. Baywatch is stuck in the sand, playing slow in its first two nights of evening play so grosses might even dip lower. Will see how it plays tonight but so far it's not seeing any big audience play on that rating.

Damn, I thought Baywatch would do well with the Rock.. guess it is a floating turd?

Nice to see Pirates doing well so far, hope we get a 6th movie!

The way this ends has a pretty finite feel to it, but then there's that post credits scene there just in case :p

I was so satisfied im fine if it is,
on the other hand the credit scene is hype and I would literally day 1 this franchise till the end of time(Well unless they somehow became yearly).

I don't have any problems with the first three movies. I love them. Verbinski is a great director and he had a vision. He knew what he wanted to achieve.
The third movie was a bit too long but still awesome. So many great scenes, such a good score.
The fourth one was awful. Lots of characters missing, awful new characters and almost no connection to the previous films.
I haven't seen the new Pirates movie (I'm not reading the spoiler thread) but I definitely will. Even if it's crap.
They can't bring back the magic of the trilogy...only if Verbinski is directing the next movie + all characters from the original trilogy are returning + Hans Zimmer score.
