Place your bets! Killer 7 -> the bomb or a bomb.

After 2 years of footage, we still have no idea what Killer 7 really is but one thing is for sure, it's going to be a unique experience.

So will this game be the bomb or a bomb? I'm not talking about sales here, I know you guys have an unhealthy obsession in that area but I want to know if you think the game will be good or not.

Anyway, my money's on hit. It's been in development too long to be the next P.N 03. I'm pretty sure it won't be as good as say, Resident Evil 4 but at the same time, I think it will be a surprise.

Bomb.

Style aside, the gameplay just sounds so uninspiring. Also I think that a lot of people/reviewers will be wanting an RE4 with weird style, not push left and right at junctions, and occasionally go into first person to shoot some stuff (well that's the impression of the gameplay that I've got from what limited info has been released).

The style alone makes it a love-it/hate-it game, and I have a feeling the gameplay will be a love-it or hate-it affair as well. So I expect it's going to come in for a lot of criticism.

Personally, I really like the style and am going to give it a chance no matter how it plays. I think it's going to be the videogame equivalent of one of those indie/art-house films which even though it wasn't the greatest film you've ever seen, it still had enough original ideas in it to make you glad you watched it.

Same could've been said about Shenmue. And i think Nash's comments above are dead on. i can't wait for it myself, despite the lack of actual gameplay info.

Put me down for "CAPBOMB" in both sales and gameplay. Feel free to bump this thread and rub it in my face if I'm wrong. But I don't think that will be a problem...

Devil May Cry 3 > Shadow of Rome > Killer 7

It has been spoken!

Agreed.
It sounds like the aiming mechanism is the same as RE4, but there's not enough information about the rest of it. It could contain Onimusha/RE-like puzzles, but the navigation system looks confusing (however stylish). Based on the trailers, I shouldn't have any problems getting into the style of the game, and I've heard from a friend that it's a lot of fun to play, but I guess you can never tell until you try it yourself.

I haven't actually seen or heard much about this game yet, so I could go the easy route and be all cynical about it, but what the heck. I'll put my euro's on THE bomb !
The graphical style still intrigues me, and it was the one game out of the infamous Capcom 5 that originally drew my attention because of sheer inventiveness. So far the C5 have given us two gems (RE 4 and VJ) and two utter duds (PN03 and Dead Phoenix, was it ever released in Japan ?)... so I guess statistically it could go either way.

When we're talking sales to, it will almost certainly be A bomb.. especially over here in the PAL territories, where the only games that sell well have a photo-realistic style of graphics..

More like, PS2 > GC, amirite?

Seriously though, I pray it's better than the crap that is the DMC series. Shadow of Rome is getting mediocre reviews so far as well.

Umm Killer 7 is multiplatform. It's on both the PS2 and Gamecube. Try Again!

You said "as well," as if Devil May Cry 3 has been getting bad scores. The only DMC3 review I've seen was from PSM, and that was 9/10...and the demo pretty much showed everyone it wasn't a replay of DMC2, but the series being crap is your opinion to have.

The Bomb - and I mean that it will do decent to excellent numbers for a GAMECUBE game, not inasmuch as people will run out and buy GCs for it. Is that enough of a disclaimer? :)

I definitely want to rent the shit outta this game, at the very least. If it ever comes out.

edit: oh it's coming out for the PS2 too? oh. uh... bomb then. it won't make a big dent in either system. still renting it though

Not in North America for whatever reason, but the Japanese version is coming out with both a GCN and PS2 version. And I've heard some crazy rumors where the Euro version will be just for PS2, North American just for the GCN, and Japanese for both. I hope that's not true...very lame indeed.

I honestly think it would be better for Capcom if it was just GC.

True, especially after what happen with the PS2 version of Viewtiful Joe. I'm sticking with the Gamecube version if the game actually turns out to be ok.

The reason I think Killer 7 will suck, is that Capcom will be releasing the game without having shown it in playable form before. Has it ever been playable at a trade show? Any E3? Any TGS? Even at their own events? So basically they're releasing a game without letting anybody actually try it...smells like trouble to me. Does something like that ever happen with good games? Prove me wrong, Capcom. Prove me wrong.

Surprise hit of the first quarter <-- i mean, for those that like it! Obviously.
Will win over lots of people with it's style.
Will be surprisingly fun to play
Will get a mixed bag of results - some place will low ball it, a couple of places will high ball it. It's going to be a love or hate thing.
Will end up being labelled the "Adventure story equivalent of Rez"
Will start numerous threads where people "get it" and others "don't get it"

(Sales - i know this thread isn't about that - it will die horribly)

I think the game will indeed get mixed reviews from the public, and will ultimately sell mediocre at best. The public judges games far too much based off appearance, and the style of this game is sure to turn a few heads, but push them away just as much if not more.

it's uglier every time we see it -- i'm starting to suspect those preternaturally clean first shots and trailers were mock-ups. and we still don't really know how it plays. it sounds weird enough that i still want to try it, but my expectations are low.

Regardless of the quality, of which I am quite unsure about, there's no way that the final game will do anything but bomb.

As for the quality, I'm sure it will appeal to a specialized crowd but most will write it off, a la PN03 or Kirby Air Ride.

please don't lump pn03 in with kirby air ride. it's actually a very good game, and it suffers enough from association with olimario.

Crap, it's been delayed in Japan too now :(

@_@ x 100

I mean if they waited forever to finally announce a release date, you'd think the game would be finished and ready to ship at this point >_<

When it was just a GameCube game, it was gonna be awesome.

Now that it's coming out on the PS2 as well, it's gonna be a sucky-suck-bomb.

Capbomb, but I will probably end up picking it up because I am interested to see how the different personallities will interact with each other.

Bomb. I'm expecting a mediocre experience too. Can't imagine the gameplay all of a sudden making sense and being good actually.
