Also it says in the website that it is VESA compatible (without adapter), is this true?
Had a rather unfortunete set back happening here which means what i previously said is no longer true. Way things are looking now, i'll be lucky if i can buy the OLED late October, maybe late November. I hope the former, cause i want to start Halo 5 and Fallout 4 on the new TV. This situation sucks, cause i am still gaming and watching movies/shows on this small ass 22 inch monitor. Then again, when i do finally get a new TV it will be amazing.
The problem is..the OLED is now nicely priced in some stores here and there's no guarantee that will be the case around the time i can finally afford it.
However, this store here has two Philips 4K screens, 55 inch. It's the 55PUS8908 and the 9109. Both nicely priced and if i wanted, i could get it now. But the doubts are big for this one, something tells me i should be patient and save up money for that OLED. Anyone here have any experience or actually have any of these two Philips sets?
I'm thinking of getting a 4K TV and I was mostly interested in the Vizio M50-C1. I was wondering if it can do 1440p at 60hz? I keep getting conflicting reports that it can do that resolution (weirdly, only if you use DVI to HDMI) and some others saying that it can not (only 1440p at 30hz).
Of course, I know that you have to use HDMI 2.0 for 4K at 60hz and 1080p at 120hz. I just really wish I knew if I could do 1440p at 60hz.
Also, I'm looking into the Samsung UN50JU6500 (2015 model) and noticed that it supports 4:4:4 chroma. Will 4:4:4 chroma add more response delay if it's enabled?
Sony's 2015 sets don't support 4:4:4 4K full stop.
They do now, check the rtings.com reviews. A firmware update was released in the past month or so allowing for 4:4:4/4K/60Hz.

In short yes, the 2015 Samsung models that support 4:4:4 only do it in PC mode, and it's around 65ms on the 9000 set, 25ms game mode without 4:4:4. It's one of the things that's really putting me off buying any of this years models, as full chroma is really important to me, as is low input lag, I just hope next years models sort this issue out. Sony's 2015 sets don't support 4:4:4 4K full stop.
The 55" and smaller Vizio M's actually DO NOT support native 120Hz 1080p as they're technically 60Hz panels. As I understand it, they will accept 120Hz inputs/signals, but toss out every other frame or do black frame insertion or something on the processing side. Real, native 120Hz is limited to 60" and larger.
I would hold off for the OLED, I have found it a fantastic upgrade from Plasma displays.
The picture out the box needs a bit of tweaking depending on what source they are being fed, but once you have your settings set, nothing comes close.
Dark games look at their absolute best.
Just bought a Sony 48w705c, did I do good?
Also it says in the website that it is VESA compatible (without adapter), is this true?
Hope it gets here soon.
Got my JS9500 today... Not gonna lie, I'm extremely impressed. I can say that FALD technology has come a long way since 2011 and the Sony HX929. I tried out a ton of content looking for blooming and much to my surprise it was extremely hard to notice even on super high contrast stuff like Gravity and certain scenes in the later Harry Potter movies. Of course off-angle is a different story. The more off angle you are the worse the blooming becomes. Non-issue for me though since I'm dead center 99.9% of the time. Also, low APL scenes look straight up better than they did on the Kuro. The opening of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince for example looked ridiculously good. I'd go so far as to say this TV is better than my 500M, and it's not even calibrated yet! I never thought I'd see the day that I like an LED TV more than a last-generation Pioneer Kuro.
Gaming-wise, I can confirm that enabling FALD doesn't add any perceivable input lag, so you don't have to sacrifice image quality for that delicious ~25ms latency. I went down into the Catacombs and Tomb of the Giants in Dark Souls and holy moly it looked great.
Rather than sell it and pick up an EF9500 like I was planning, I think I'll hang onto it and let OLED mature a bit more before making the transition.

Do you know which of the smaller/cheaper Samsung models are on-par with that one in regards to FALD and input lag? My max budget is $3000 so the JS9500 is out for me. I have an LG 55EF9500 ordered, but if I can get a similarly sized Samsung that looks good (although not as good as the OLED would) with good motion interpolation and input lag in GAME mode with FALD enabled, I might opt for that while waiting for OLED to mature a bit as you mentioned.

Get a credit card? I'm happy with my 55 inch Samsung ju7100, got it on Amazon for $1400 with 2 years no interest.
The JS9500 is a great HDTV. Like you said, off-angle viewing is really bad. And I was not fan of the curved screen throwing reflections across it.Got my JS9500 today... The JS9500 produces a gorgeous picture, no doubt about that. But bests the Kuro 500m? When comparing my Kuro Pro-111fd to the JS9500, the Kuro still offered a better overall picture to me.
I wound up returning my JS9500. I am waiting for the 4Ks to fully support the new specs of 4k Blu and the HDR standards. The JS9500 hits about ~70% of the color space in DCI P3 / Rec.2020, and much less than that for Dolby Vision. I just couldn't justify a $5000 HDTV that wasn't future-proof in the immediate future.

Fixed that for you. When will there be an affordable 70 inch HDTV?
I used to have a Pro 111fd, and even though it produced an amazing picture, it definitely lacked clarity and sharpness, for gaming anyway. LCD's are better for gaming from a sharpness perspective. Plasma's are more geared towards movies, and I think that's what worries me about OLED, I don't want a soft PQ for playing games.

Mid-2016?

The PQ on my EC9300 is anything but soft. I have never seen a Pioneer plasma so I can't compare there, but there's no lack of sharpness compared to an LCD.
Also, the detail exposed on an OLED is insane. If your source isn't up to par it will definitely expose more flaws than your standard LCD would.
The LG OLEDs are super crisp. That said, I'm assuming the "soft picture" on your 111fd is a result of 720p games getting overscanned. I know on the 500M, non-1080p sources got overscanned and there was no option to disable it. Of course that resulted in a very slightly softer image. 1080p sources looked perfect though. So long as your display is of respectable quality, I don't think sharpness/clarity is an issue regardless of the technology.
No it was with 1080p games from my PC, I'm not saying it was mega soft, but since I bought a W900a it made me realise that the LCD was clearer, but having said that the motion res was a lot higher on the pioneer. I guess it's always a trade-off with these TV technologies. I loved my Pioneer until it developed red blacks and forced my hand to get rid.
I didn't mean to come off as overly critical. It's worth repeating that the JS9500 produces an absolutely gorgeous picture. I was impressed and when it comes to LCD HDTVs I tend to turn up my nose at them. Like you also said, the input lag is excellent, as well. In addition, I like Samsung's idea of having the connect box do the processing and making it upgradeable.I think after 4 years with a plasma that was only calibrated for night-time viewing, I'm just in love with how bright the TV can get. I wouldn't have bought this TV if I was looking for a long-term display, but I'm not going to say no to a $5k TV that I got as a replacement for a defective TV that I only paid $2k for. I was basically just looking for a 65"+ hold-me-over until large OLEDs are more affordable. The JS9500 is probably about as good as it gets for that criteria. It helps that viewing angle and reflections are a non-issue in my viewing environment!
The OLED is mine. I could not pass on this offer. I decided to sell my New 3DS XL and before Ninty fans go all ''Noooo...why the hell would you do that?'' , i barely play on it, honestly all my gaming time goes to Xbox One and with Fallout 4 coming soon, but of course also Halo 5, Battlefront and Rise of the Tomb Raider....the 3DS is never going to be used. I can always get one later again to finish the few games i have. This was the money i needed.
It's paid in full, ready to be delivered monday or tuesday. Hellz yeah!
Congrats, you're in for a treat !
Cool. I also got a 3DS lying around and I don't do much with it. I've been selling a ton of stuff preparing for a new TV next year, the 3DS might go soon too.
Apparently a nearby store has the EG960V up on display. I'd like to see that one so probably going to look at it. Still not sure about gaming on OLEDs though. But it will be fun to see a 4k OLED, most I've seen were 1080p thus far.
http://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/by-brand/sony/x850cTempted to get a Sony XBR65X850C 65-Inch 4K Ultra HD 120Hz 3D Smart LED TV. Decent TV? My criteria is wall-mountable, 60"+, 4K. I don't care about 3D. I'll be using it to game and watch TV (streaming, cable, and blu-ray). I'll also have to get a receiver for it that has at least 5 HDMI inputs -- any recommendations? Thanks!

Actually what luck lol, just saw this: http://slickdeals.net/f/8140982-65-...led-120hz-4k-ultra-hd-hdtv-1800-free-shipping
Picked up the LG 55" EF9500 OLED. It's amazing.
Did a stress test, over 12 straight hours playing Neverwinter with its permanent HUD on-screen. Had some minor image retention (couldn't even see it watching netflix at normal viewing distance). Image retention faded within an hour or two.
I think if it can hold up to that HUD for 12 straight hours and only have IR but no permanent burn-in on a brand-new set, it's good to go man.
Input lag is totally playable, didn't even really notice it playing Ori and the Blind Forest.
