Ok, I'll do that... but if my receiver has no video card (no processing) then it doesn't add input lag?
thats correct. make sure you turn off auto lipsyncing features as well if it has that.

When I was demoing the X940C I was not a fan of Android at all.
I have used a lot of smart platforms on various TV's and by far the best I have ever used is WebOS, followed by Samsungs new Tizen. All others have been pretty horrible.
Thank god for set top boxes that can handle all of what we need except streaming 4K content unless you have something that does it.
Do new TV's usually leak out or get announced before CES? I'm wondering if we'll hear anything as to what we can expect.
I live in the Philippines and there are a couple of attractive sales going on right now. Decided to pick up a new TV for the living room and would appreciate so e advice. My options are
LG 43UF680TT - $640usd - http://www.lg.com/au/tvs/lg-43UF680T
TCL U55E5800FS - $702usd - http://www.tclphilippines.com/55-e5800
They're both 4k tv's, I've seen them both in person and they both look fine. I've never bought a TV from one of the smaller players tho, I currently own a Samsung 43" Plasma from 2013. I love the look and functionality of Web OS 2.0, but I love the size of the TCL.
I siet about 4-5 feet away, mostly watch streamed content from Netflix and Hulu, have a PS4 and an HTTP with a 970, so most of my gaming will be at 1080p. The primary reason I want to get a 4k rv is that I need a new TV, and the good 1080p ones are about the same price as these 4k ones. Any thoughts?
Both will be downgrade, PQ wise, coming from a plasma. Wait, put up bigger budget, and go straight to oled.
Anyone know where I can find good settings for playing video games on the Samsung JU7500?

Simply setting the picture mode to Movie does most of the job. You should do this even for watching sports. For video games, though, turn on game mode (under System-General) instead.
Our settings are relatively dark. If you want something brighter, increase 'Backlight' as much as you want. This won't affect the picture quality.

Educated TV gaf, I am tempted by this tv, but don't want to screw up. Any reasons I shouldn't get it?

Have you tried those settings?
http://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/samsung/ju7500/settings?uxtv=6764
Yeah I used their "picture" settings on their first image and I put the TV into game mode, but I didn't like the "Warm2" setting so I didn't do anything on their "picture options" image or below that.... and I didn't try to fine tune all of the color settings at all... they even point out that all those setting usually depend upon your particular panel and your setup too. Just left that alone.
I wish there was some way to set my universal remote to put the TV in "game mode" when I press "play PS4" and to put the tv into "movie mode" when I press "watch TV"... But it involves so much internal menu maneuvering that it doesn't seem possible.
If you don't want to mess with the colours / white point adjustment just try another color setting like neutral or cold. I guess you see to much red with warm2?
We just had our basement finished, and I'm looking at a 70" tv to mount down there. I didn't think going to 4k would be worth the price difference, and I found a Sharp Aquos LC-70LE660 2014 model on Amazon for $1500. For the 70" size that seemed like the best deal. Should I pull the trigger on this one or keep hunting? It seems like the price really jumps at the 70" size.
Yeah warm2 had a lot of red. I tried the various settings out and I thought that the "standard" color setting looked pretty good, so I just left it on standard.
Get anything except the Sharp.
If you need 65 or 75, take a look at the Samsungs. If your max budget is 1500, I'd wait for BF and other sales to get something better
If it works for you that's fine.
If you want to spend some more time to get the most accurate picture you could follow a guide like this:

What do you guys think about the BF deals for 75" TV's I thinking about.
Sony XBR-75X850C $3000 from BestBuy or the Vizio M75-C1 $2,399.99 from Costco.
I have a 65" ST50 Panasonic Plasma right now that I'm pretty happy with, but wouldn't mind trading up for the bigger size and better display lag times for games and PC usage.

If your coming from a plasma you'll want to go with a fald led and not the edge lit 850c.
The bigger ones(65" and 75") are at least direct led but yeah not comparable to a plasma black level.
PQ wise you won't upgrade with any of those really, I have no idea about the input lag on your panasonic only the Vizio has a really low one under 20ms. To be honest I don't see a reason for an "upgrade".

Hello folks. I'm looking for a 40-50 inch led television with 1080p support, at least 2 sets of component in if possible, 2-3 hdmi in, and as little input lag as possible. I have a 500$ max on what I'm willing to spend at the moment. Any suggestions on models in that price range that won't be garbage?
Anyone getting the Vizio M60 on Black Friday from dell for $800?
http://www.circularhub.com/flyers/d...=78613#!/flyers/dellus-fsi?flyer_run_id=94388
Not sure about the 2 sets of component inputs (doesn't sound like the usual standard), I guess the best bang for the buck for you guys in the states is the Vizio M Series?
http://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/vizio/m-series-2015?uxtv=6764
Watch out for the special black friday offers like this one:
Is the LG EG9100 a must have (for the price) or are there better TVs on the horizon that I should hold out for? I currently own a Sony 50W800B and I'm indifferent to 4K at the moment (due to limited 4K sources)

It's one of the few IPS based models from Samsung meaning great color and viewing angles but not so great black levels and contrast, if you watch a lot of content in the dark it ain't the best set for you.

Big sales just popped up for the Samsung 7100 and 7500. ~$500 discount on the latter.
Question, is there a "best in class" 1080p set to get this year or is everything worth getting (for PQ and Gaming) moved up to these 4K sets?
I want to upgrade my (very) old Vizio, but not sure I want to spend the extra $ to to get HDR / 4K etc. just yet. (I figure its silly to get a 4K set without HDR)

Omg I just bought mine at newegg for $300 over the current sale price. Was delivered yesterday. I waited for the BF sales leaks... And People on GAF told me that these high end TVs don't go on sale...

Well just contact them and ask if they would compare the price otherwise return the TV, shouldn't be really a big deal?
According to their web page, returns require a 15% restocking fee and you pay the shipping both ways.
Sometimes when you call them over the phone, they don't charge any of that depending upon who you get on the phone and depending on your situation. But if they tell me I need to pay all that then it easily cancels out the price difference and then some.
newegg doesn't answer the phone on weekends for another 2.5 hours anyways.
14 days to withdraw when purchasing goods
In the EU, for contracts concluded as of 13 June 2014, you have the right to withdraw from your online purchase as well as from purchases made elsewhere than in shops (e.g. from a salesman on your doorstep; by phone or mail order) within 14 days.
This "cooling off" period expires 14 days after the day you received your goods. However, if this period expires on a non-working day, your deadline is extended till the next working day.
You can choose to withdraw from your order for any reason within this timeframe - even if you simply changed your mind.
Oh that's pretty harsh, I had no idea about those policies. In Europe you can return within 14 days your online ordered goods no matter which dealer. But depending on the dealer you would have to pay the shipping back to them.

That's the one I've gone for (KDX8005C in the UK/EU). The 55" (and 65 I believe) has a VA panel, which is what I wanted. It also has lowish lag (~37ms IIRC) and you can still have a great picture in game mode (as opposed to the Samsung 6500 et al). The frame may not look as "premium" as the higheer end models, but overall it appears to be great!
Should receive mine on Tuesday.
Ok I did an online chat with Newegg and they are going to issue me a $150 gift card.
Not bad considering Newegg's $300 less price included $120 shipping (and I got free shipping the first time), and everyplace else I would have bought from would have included tax which was over $100. So the $150 gift card is basically just about the whole final price difference on my end.
Now I just need to figure out what to buy at newegg for $150 in the next 90 days...
I might have bought the 55" for $1297 though if I had waited. Pretty sure it was $500 more a few days ago. In any case I like the size of the 48".
Blizzy are you 100% sure ?
What does every one think of this 43" 4K tv from LG? I'm looking for a 4K tv for my PC and ps4.
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B010Q8ETR0/?tag=neogaf0e-20
Blizzy, what does 50hz mean for 60hz games, how noticeable will it be? I get notion sickness in games with sensitive camera movements, so is it likely to affect me more than others ?
So is OLED very common in TVs nowadays or no. Does Sony have any OLED TVs?
By the way easiest way to test it, download a 60fps Gamevideo File from
http://www.gamersyde.com/
watch it on your display now, put it on a USB-stick, go to the next TV retail store and use the USB port of the TV, best case scenario you deactivate all the motion interpolation to see the true non alternate picture.
Hmm, I don't get the tv until Tuesday. I'm just really worried that I've bought a bad tv, that won't play 60hz games without screen tearing.
If anyone with a LG 55EG9100 is able to comment, I noticed when the screen is mostly white, I can see that it is not uniform with the middle part of the screen being a bit more blue or darker. It is not noticeable unless the screen is mostly a very bright white. I wanted to know if this calls for a reason to exchange the TV for a new one. I tried to capture the effect in the below image.

ABL (Automatic Brightness Limiter)
All OLED TVs suffer from a varying luminosity problem. The overall luminosity of the screen changes depending on the picture displayed. The brighter the overall picture to display, the darker the colors will be. Plasma TVs also suffered from this problem, and they were even worse.
Don't worry that won't happen, I actually tested it myself that way like 2-3 weeks ago, Star Wars Battlefront on video looked totally fine to me.
http://www.gamersyde.com/news_our_pc_videos_of_star_wars_battlefront_beta-17180_en.html
I just hope that you won't notice any lag during gameplay that's all.
Edit: The Videoreview is the 55" one, EU got 49" IPS and 55" VA models.
