My personal experience with both is that. are you using HDR often? Sony HDR quite unbelievable and their upscaling unmatched. I don't know why no one really want to touch this subject? only vague things like more brightness..
If not go for LG E6 fantastic TV.
Currently? No I don't have a capable display, but I will be buying heaps of 4K Blu Rays, and a PS4 Pro for HDR gaming, so probably yeah! It's important that the TV I get does HDR well.
I'm personally disappointed in Z9D it's overpriced & Sony pulled a nice bait and switch with backlight master drive which they acted like would end up having insane amount of LEDs yet you only have around 650 or so..where is 1,000+ Sony -_-. Regardless of that Android OS is trash it really is I don't know why in the world Sony decided to go with it, but you only need to read peoples displeasure with how it crashes and other issues even in the AVForum review they go over that & I think it's the reason to blame for Sony TV's having worse and worse input delay.
Even with all that It's still prob the best LCD HDTV this year for movies, however you need to view both TV's in good low light viewing conditions and choose which TV best fits what you want out of your high end purchase.
P.S Having Dolby Vision on LG while Sony lacks it is also something you should keep in mind. Oh & E6 covers more of the DCI-P3 colour space.
Edit: Also, take your own content to test out in store be it on USB.
Yeah I was initially let down also, when it was supposedly going to be 1000+ zones, and 4000+ nits and have DV support, but it seems it's still a pretty great display. I'm not too huge on Android OS either, I've seen how clunky it can be at friends places, but really it's not a big a deal as PQ to me.
Yeah true true, and good points, I'll head to a store when I find one with both on display and report back with what I decide to go with. It might be a few months before I purchase though.
Don't trust anything you read in owner threads on AVS Forum. Those guys would put the platform warriors on NeoGAF to shame with their brand loyalty. Reviews are unanimous in favor of OLED. At that price range, it's a no-brainer.
Yeah that's worth noting for sure. I guess they're all trying to validate their purchase in some way or another also. Although those guys test for things that I often don't even see mentioned in professional reviews, so yeah, hard to know for sure.
I'm in the same boat regarding the z9d and lg g6.
Seems almost insane not to get the g6 if you can, but the price difference is significantly different enough where I am the 65" g6 is actually priced higher than the 75" z9d here.
Could actually get the 75 z9d here and spend the difference on a good 4k receiver for the price of the lg g6
Will double check numbers later today, but foreign made TVs are ridiculously expensive here compared to the somewhat lacking local brands.
As for doing my homework,as near as I can tell the z9d has the edge in peak brightness and good but not as good as OLED black levels.
Sony traditionally has a solid set of tools for handling motion, strobing backlights was available in game mode on previous Sony models.
As for seeing them in person, the LG was gorgeous being ridiculously thin and a great picture. Black levels noticeably better than z9d at a glance in store.
G6 I'm not sure is even on sale in my country, if it is, it's not listed on any of our major retailers websites. The highest model we have here is the E6, which I believe only lacks the beefier soundbar which I don't care about because I'll be running a proper sound system with it.
Yeah in that case it's definitely tougher. Here the Z9D and E6 are very closely priced, so it's really about finding out which one is better for my purposes. I work in video so any artefacting or motion issues could be more detrimental to my viewing enjoyment than poor viewing angles which is why I guess I need to see the OLED in person and test it out with a console.
Nice, thanks for the rundown, that is pretty much in line with what I've found as well, but I have not seen the Z9D or E6 in person, I've only seen the B6.
