PLAYERUNKNOWNS BATTLEGROUNDS Early Access Thread: This Is Battle Royale

Ya that's something I hope they address. At least have some kind of indicator on screen that your bullets will hit the wall. Gets frustrating when you try to stealth kill someone and end up totally giving away your position for nothing.
See, there actually is an indicator. If your gun is aimed in third person, you're close to a wall, and the barrel is pointed at a wall but the crosshair is aimed beyond the wall, a red circle appears where bullets will actually hit.

But: A) it can be very hard to notice, especially if you're colorblind because it might blend into the wall, B) it doesn't work in ADS (I believe) because in theory you're looking exactly where the barrel is pointing, and C) while I haven't tested it extensively, I feel like there are edge cases or "sour spots" (especially with shotguns) where it won't show up; I think maybe it's because the crosshair for shotguns is obviously bigger, so if the edge of the large circle is grazing the wall when you move or peek it thinks you're still technically aimed at the wall and not beyond it and thus won't show the indicator.

Been exclusively FPP for a while so didn't know about the indicator in TPP. Even when I'm aiming over a window edge or something similar I try to keep my crosshair a few inches above but it still just hits the wall. I mostly just kind of avoid those situations now where I'm on like the 2nd floor trying to kill someone close outside and move down a floor or wait for them to come in or go further away.

The more kills I have to get for my squad the worse we finish. Perhaps I shouldn't bring a gun?

This. So much this.

I've died solo with 70+ people left in squad play close to 10 times this past weekend from simply going to help mates out who are in shit. I'll get 3 kills quickly, 4th guy off's me, then my team rushes in to kill him as a die.

Should I not help anymore? Lol.

That shouldn't be possible.

He's talking about the fact that opening the box with a key results in the item inside being available to list instantly, and its true. Well, at least on my side as well it is.

In the same boat! I'll rush to help out friends who get jumped and remove the immediate threat but as I begin to revive one of them I'll get shot from the final enemy squad member. I usually try to assess the potential for flanking while reviving but sometimes in the heat you just can't allow that time.

Opened two Gamescon crates. Got pink (at least that's the colour I think they are, I'm colour blind so they could be purple maybe) camo hotpants and what looks to be a green school shirt. Are they worth anything?

HELL YEAH!!

53 hours in and I've finally got my first chicken dinner playing solo. Holy shit, it feels soooo good. My heart was beating so hard the last two minutes.

It came down to a battle in the military base. We were in an area with a bunch of stacked barrels. First, I managed to pick off a couple of guys crawling towards the circle. Fortunately, I had cover on both sides so nobody caught on to where I was. The last circle dropped on an open garage and I managed to get inside. Third place got picked off going around the outside of the garage by the other player. I had an idea where the last guy was so I decided to go for it. I peek out of the garage aimed towards a chain-link fence and he pops up. Both of us start firing and BOOM head-shot, winner winner chicken dinner. My god, what a thrill.

I gave out a triumphant yell which made my girlfriend come out of the room and ask if everything was ok, lol.

"Yes honey, everything is great!"

fucking lol, I was at the tallest apartment and decided for a lark to shoot at someone on the southwest corner of the school wall with a choked shotgun and I actually saw a bloodspray.

Had an amazing game today where loot was ok, got 6 kills, came in third because I had to crawl in the last circle and blue got me.

Was fun the entire time playing the game, no true downtime

I hope more games go like that

I think I'm officially at the point where the constant janky bug-fest that is this game has officially overridden the actual fun.

I'll be back if they ever end up patching half of the things they promised, but I'm not gonna hold my breath at this rate.

Man I just do not enjoy the endgame phase. No matter how prepared I feel I am there's always someone who gets the jump on me, especially when it's in an open field. Feels like you desperately need a sixth sense.

The game is designed for TPP. The height of object, the speed of movement, so many things just feel wrong in FPP.

I agree with some of that, which is a bummer because FPP feels like the only way to play a game where getting information on your opponents is so key. TPP is low risk, high reward. FPP is high risk high reward.

I do think FPP tends to result in more people camping in houses though. Sound becomes the best way to get an edge on your opponent. And if you're not moving and you're just sat there camping in front of a door, you hear enemies coming and you have the advantage when an enemy comes blundering in. In TPP, you can open the door and sneak peak around before going in.

The worst part about this game for me is knowing where an enemy is but not being able to approach him because he'll hear me coming.

Just got another win with a record high of 8 kills for me. Woo. Last kill was something hiding in one of those sheds :)

What's the easiest way to edit shadowplay recordings and throw them up on streamable or something?

you can clip out a certain part of any video with VLC like this. Just click the record button where you wanna start the clip and again when you want to stop. The clip should be save to your My Videos folder.

I keep running into this thing where I am backed up away from a corner, there's no indicator showing my gun is aimed at the wall, but my bullets still all hit the edge of the corner when I peek anyway.

Had that kind of issue a lot lately too. Window frames, hill geometry. I hope its something they can address before final release.

Just got the craziest chicken dinner. West of Severny in a house and final zone drops right outside it. One guy left. My buddy has him pinned down behind a rock in the open so I took the Jeep to run him over, he dodges and I hope out but my buddy threw a nade that killed him on impact.

Nice. The 3440x1440 quality from Shadowplay -> Streamable looks like shit but... eh. Good enough for these clips. That last match had a lot of action towards the end.

Is that a guy? Yup.

He only turned around to shut the door. Did not see me.

Bushes are OP.

Fuck this shed in particular. (winning kill)

Is it sniper rifle deaths? I've found that stun/frag grenades tossed into cover or in the opposite way you gotta boogie to helps/at least doesn't not help.

Also, moving a bit when they reload/move isn't dumb(?)

I love those situations. Whatever you chose to do it is guaranteed to be an adrenaline rush. I mean, I guess that goes for many things in this game, but I think those tight, isolated fights (preferably in buildings) with limited navigation are something else.

I usually just throw a nade/flash and rush them because that seems to end with the best result for me. Most campers are either bad or very nervous, which is something you often can feel through their movement and reactions. Throw a nade anywhere and they'll run for their life into another room. Show your muzzle briefly and they'll hold LMB like there's no tomorrow, making it an easy kill while he's reloading. ;)

The worst part of this game is dying to a guy you don't see, or have any chance of beating. There should be a mode where that's impossible. Bullet-proof backs or something.

"He's double-backed on us!"

Late game, you have to keep moving around if you want to survive

It seems counter intuitive, but proning in the grass will only get you killed

Rather move around the edge of the circle and listen for footsteps and gun fire, while staying close to cover so you can dash to it if you get into a fight

If the last few circles are in a field, crouch and use the bushes as cover. Also use smoke grenades to flush people out. Most of the time if you throw one away from yourself, someone will peek to check out whats happening.

That shouldn't be possible.
I can't test it without wasting keys, but I'm not talking about the restriction on the commodity (the key itself cannot be traded or listed for a week).

I'm saying I -thought- I bought a market key, and instead of listing the key itself (which would obviously be impossible), I opened a crate that I couldn't trade, and then listed the item. I figured that made sense, because it's the only reason people would want overpriced keys.

These posts are making me assume I made a mistake though.

*edit*
I see some people confirmed that I'm not totally crazy, thanks! So yes, this explains why people buy keys at higher than ingame cost: They're not necessarily stupid, but they want the chance to immediately flip a valuable uncrated item without waiting a week while the market tanks. The extra 50 cents or whatever they pay is worth it if they get a valuable item.

Fairly sure I saw a ghost in this game yesterday

Dude flips his Dacia on a hill, gets out. I shoot at him a couple of times and he bolts behind the small ridge next to him for cover.

I head to the top of the ridge, fully able to see both what is to the left and right of him, crest the ridge and, nothing. Dude has fully vanished and the worst is he mustn't have been armed either as I was standing openly on the top of the ridge for a good twenty seconds confused as hell.

I keep fumbling with my keyboard when shit hits the fan. Are there any good keybinds to set up from default?

Also with guns that can do single, burst, or auto do you generally keep them on auto and switch to single with far targets?

I really wish sprint would prioritize over leaning and cancel out of it automatically. I get caught in weird moments in FPP where I forget I'm leaning and have a second of brain fart figuring out why I can't run.

Anyone else feel like the no recoil macros are becoming more rampant? Getting two tapped by m16s from 300+ meters is becoming more and more common. Meanwhile I watch amazing players like ninja who almost never two tap anyone.

Also, my internet hasnt changed but dsync seems to be getting worse. I died a full second after getting into cover today.

Dunno, shits been weird in the top 10000 since the servers got reset. Maybe I am crazy...

You forget that in TPP the enemy would not camp behind door like that (at least enemy who can think), he would be on some spot that he could see you but you could not peek him.

Today has been the glitchiest day I've seen in probably a month.

A duo partner had no buildings rendering even with an SSD. I got warped through a door which is somewhat normal. On two different occasions I fired a shotgun at someone from 10 feet holding hipfire, doing no damage, and died in a single shot from the same weapon in the opposite direction.

I was in a closet and threw a grenade. The grenade vanished. Simultaneously my partner threw a grenade, which I guess vanished. They then knocked out from friendly fire on the opposite side of the building.

I had items not picking up too. It just all feels like the servers are struggling.

I'm getting really frustrated not being able to ever get / finish off kills.

I dropped Pochinki in duos, next to the plane's path, to practice. 0 parachutes visible in any direction. :|

If you're on Windows 10 you can just open the videos in the photos app and trim them. It's really simple.
