The NPD Group is the sole market research firm that tracks point-of-sale, physical video game sale information across USA, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia. All numbers that we're talking about are from NPD's USA retailer sales report.

NPD numbers are 90-95% directly from sale information given to them by massive companies like Wal-Mart, Amazon, and GameStop. The remaining 5-10% of the market is estimated.

NPD has been in business tracking video games since the 1980s and they have been taken seriously by companies like Nintendo since the early 90's.

Pay no attention to other sites that claim to track video game sales (like VG_Chartz). They're just a bunch of nonsense. NPD is the ONLY source of physical video game sales for the USA.

Pretty much. NPD is a company that specializes in market research; it covers a lot of industries in the USA, but in this case, the only we care are the videogame industry number (meaning: US sales)

er, a known 'fanboyish' MS-leaning individual just posted on his twitter that NPD are inaccurate a few hours before NPD numbers come out... I think that + Bish's bunker pic are very telling.

imo, it's a very real possibility PS4 beat xbone, again. @_@

This too. There's nothing to suggest that he recieved numbers even earlier than NPD subscribers. He's just covering his bases mentally.

Nope, Europe didn't get a price cut except for the UK. In the US, you were even able to get an XB1 for $399 with Forza 5. And there were a lot of deals where the Titanfall XB1 bundle costed $449.

I'd be very surprised if the Xbox One didn't come out on hop.

The deals and bundles, combined with the fact that it was hyped to death by everyone and the 360 version was probably tactically delayed means it should come out on top quite comfortably.

I can't see how. That would mean the Xbone outsold the PS4 by >300k units in March. If that were the case, we wouldn't be seeing deep discounts so soon. That or the PS4 sales cratered in March, which, again, is highly, highly unlikely given the PS4 broke 7 million in sales on April 6th.
