Good point about Heihachi, I'll give you that; I'd forgotten that Tekken 1-5 were PS-exclusive (duh, haha). I still think Lightning is very much PS3-associated though, and far more than a CoD soldier.

If any fighting game character had to be in this, it's Heihachi. He has been around since PS1 and the first 6 Tekken games were Playstation exclusives on consoles. Out of the current third party characters he deserves it the most. Though i wouldn't have minded if they put in Yoshimitsu instead, just because he has such a crazy fighting style.
As for who else needs to be in this game, look no further than my avatar. Kazuma Kiryu is probably the most deserving third party exclusive character that is still relevant today.

I understand your point, but I did think this through before posting it. Let's consider a few possible Supers for Snake:
Railgun from MGS4: Cool, plot-relevant, practical, uniq--oh wait; it's basically Radec's Level 2. Crap.
Metal Gear REX: Man, that'd be so awesome! It'd be like that one bit from Guns of the--dang, Emmett and Sweet Tooth already covered all of the mech bases.
CQC: Hey, wouldn't it be cool if he just punched and kicked people? Wait, what do you mean that's not what people want from Snake?
He simply doesn't use enough unique weapons to warrant a moveset. Emmett and Isaac work as DLC "gun characters" because their weapons are fantastical, whereas any of the ones that Snake could feasibly used are either covered by Drake and Radec or too boring to work well.
I've considered all of the angles before, and as much of an MGS fanboy as I am, I'd rather see them devote time and money getting more unique DLC characters.

I guess we all have our hated attack styles. I dont like swords n stuff. There is only so many ways you can slice with melee stuff. There are already 4 heavily sword based characters. With guns you atleast have better variety. Ratchets Pistol blasts, Radecs sniper, Emmetts cannon and even Isaacs guns work with much more variety.
Oh yeah company rival thing. Its still BS that only Snake reference is in character background info thingie. Could we atleast have classic MGS1-4 stage then?

Oh and for Snake there are plenty of ways to make him stand out. Make him Heavy version of Sly for one. Make him really powerful but maybe not so much combo. Also give him great array of stun attacks (but not stupidly easy kill confirms). Give him maybe invisibility so he can attack behind and stun enemies while gaining good AP. Heck give him ability to get AP like PaRappa and Toro. Snake injecting foxdie medicine for AP.
And pfffff Metal Gear would still be ok. There are only 2 mechs. There are 3 FPS supers and PLENTY of transformation supers. Not to mention 4 cutscene supers. Why would 3 mechs suck?

just give us Old Snake with a drum can.. with Metal Gear Ray for level three..

Western developers who like western games waaaaaaaaaaaayy too much. Hence Bioshock and Dead Space. Also new DmC i think. They got bare minimum in japanese character stuffs. Like 4 maybe if not counting Raiden. Also lol they all have cutscene supers, hahah. XP

I don't think SuperBot had a choice between classic Dante and new Dante -- I'm pretty sure Capcom forced new Dante on them to tie in with DmC marketing and said "take it or leave it, your choice." SuperBot definitely knew most fans would have preferred the other Dante.

I didn't realize about most of the had cutscene supers.
Scarf Prinny would be such a fun character animated on 2d ofc, Nippon Ichi Software deserves some love in this game and now more with those 3 new exclusives.

Personally id say no then. Heck, its probably me but i wouldnt even like old Dante haha. Laharl would have been much better demon character 3rd party. IMO ofc.

Why not Raiden? Because i thought that japanese wouldnt like so much for Platinum games character. Sure he is from Metal Gear, but he is from Platinum Games newest game. I've heard that they arent that big sellers. I was sooooooo wrong after hearing MGRR's sales in Japan thou.

I don't know why I didn't think about this before, but yeah, Laharl (or Mao, but Laharl is more recognizable) would have been an awesome character to have in this game. Would've been really fun to play, with tons of personality. And I'm not even a Disgaea fan!

While Yakuza is goodish PS-exclu (yet) 3rd party franchise i dunno about Kiryu. Someone convince me that like Drake developers would be able to give him unique supers. :U
As for costumes:
-Sweeth Tooth gets some from classic games.
-Radec would be some special troop unit.
-Coles could have more enemy costumes
-Ratchet and Clank would have classic armor. Or my idea, Tuxedo ratchet with Secret Agent Clank.
-Jak gets some Jak 2 armor.
-Big Daddy gets another diff subject look.
-Dante... looses pants. Underwear Dante incoming. Im calling it...

Heh, even I havent played true Disgaea game yet i want him lulz. I played Prinny games and those were good enough to show his greatness. Ofc Hero Prinny would be good aswell.
I'd love to see Kiryu, and he's definitely the closest thing Sega has to a PlayStation "all-star," but the Yakuza team seems a little too protective of their IP. They won't even let their characters be included in a Sega kart racer.

Ok, there seems to be quite good moves. Maybe sth else from other games aswell? Also is he mute ingame? That would make for great visual humor if he had to do gestures a lot with serious face.
I'd like Snake, they could be creative with the moveset if they wanted to. A Metal Gear Mk. II attack that is similar to Spike's controllable thing. Guns with varying effects like dizziness, traps, octocamo, etc. They could go in several directions with it if they were allowed to.
Still would've liked Lammy as DLC though, preferably with a chainsaw guitar move.

I agree, the "we need less (insert here)" arguement really untangles when you really think about the fighting archtypes you mentioned. Someone without a gun would have to be one of those other types. And people think we have to many swords also, so that leaves just fists and elements.
Well Zeus is both fists and elements, and Isaac has a plazma cutter (not technically a gun lmao) so i dont know what else needs to be covered instead of another gun.

God, I don't know why anyone even plays ranked any more. I dipped into it for a bit just to get the "play a ranked match" trophy on Vita (I've already platinumed the PS3 version), and my first match was against three level 999 Drakes who all played the exact same way, and one of the losers ragequit at the end anyway.
It took me four more matches -- against various combos of only Drake, Kratos, Raiden, and Cole -- to be able to finish a match and get the trophy.
What the fuck. This game has the worst online "community" in recent memory, and the fact that the game was not designed to punish people like these idiots is absurd.

Guesses for Raiden's new alt: Mariachi outfit, Desperado PMC outfit, Grey Fox armour, MGS4 look. I think MGS4 is most likely but the poncho/sombrero is super fun and compliments this game a little more.
