PlayStation has lost over 1 billion dollars between Concord & Marathon (UP: Screenshot posted is fake. No article like this exists on Forbes)

How is Forbes determining the "net loss" amount when one of the two games hasn't even released?

Also, it assumes that the average development cost of both these games is at least $600 million per game (!), and they make $0 in revenue.

Sounds like a really stupid, unsubstantiated statement.

I have no intrest so far in ps exclusives. As long as live service games come to xbox, I wouldn't care about ps even if they had bloodborne 2 or something

If Marathon is a hit, those numbers will change greatly. That doesn't seem likely though.

Edit: PS5 not being profitable is horseshit.

In Concord's case, it's the purchase/formation? of the studio+dev cost I believe.

Forbes and especially goat gaming aren't exactly reputable sources.

Edit: and it's fake. Lock this thread, we're done here.

Sheeeeeiiiit! May aswell have just given the money to me. I could have bought a few Ferraris and partied with Bobby kotick on a yacht like a baller, with some Instagram baddies. It would have been a better waste of money.

Fucking idiots.

With that budget we could have had many more wonderful games.

The karma punch to the CEO idiots

Woke and dei infested california head quarters along with Ryan and Hulst killed Sony PS. And even Japanese Sony head like Totoki are under western california influence. With exclusives principles gone, I have a feeling Ps6 will be the worse PS console and first time in 5 generation, PS will lose badly.

No Bloodborne 2, or Team Ico games, because of the stupid things they've done. Just the same old stuff, Horizon and The Last of Us...

Fuck Intergalatic, as far as I'm concerned.

Marathon got cancelled?

Also love how retards always jump on something and take it all the way. We don't know what Sony plans to do with other platforms. All we got was intent which might be and probably is limited to live service games.

PlayStation is not dying in the same way that Microsoft is, and Sony didn't spent $80B on studios to supplement their stagnant services.

This doesn't make a blind bit of sense. Marathon isnt cancelled. The Playstation brand has made shit tons of money since the PS5 launch.
This has nothing to do with Helldivers 2 going to xbox.

GAAS is that popular.
Which makes it super competitive and unlike SP games they spend lot of money to support it and highly depend on players to engage with it.

What I hate online only GAAS games they have expiration date, one it expires it be nothing more paperweight or waste space in digital.

No such tweet on Forbes Entertainment and the link is fake too.

Well done OP.

Who the hell believes it cost 1.2 billion to make those two games and also believe the PlayStation brand has not been profitable this generation.

So Concord cost 400 million and Marathon 800 million lol?

Didn't Sony say this is the most profitable PlayStation generation ever?

The ps5 gen has made more money than the 1-4 gen's combined.

To be fair, Daniel Ahmad said back in the middle of 2020, that PS first party games were not profitable.

But at this moment, Sony DID waste $3.6B.

What does that have to do with my post?

1.2 billion to make Concord and Marathon is a ridiculous figure.

We already know the claimed figure for Concord which is 400 million. So Marathon cost 800 million to develop?

This is the most profitable PlayStation generation. Confirmed by Sony themselves.

While the article sounds like tales from your ass, one does have to wonder why the cancelled that Last of Us faction game and went ahead with these 2 abominations.

I think even that turned out to be a max. of $400 million (not confirmed, but only as per a couple of rumors)? That still leaves $800 million for Marathon, which doesn't sound practical at all.

And, again, it assumes that both those products would earn $0 in revenue. Otherwise, the development cost will have to be increased even further to reach the "net loss" amount that Forbes is claiming here.
