PlayStation Network Thread | April 2015

I still have literally no idea what Steins;Gate is even about (and I'd like to keep it that way until the game is out). Somehow I managed to miss everything about it all this time. Quite excited

I'm expecting weird looks, but I'm hoping for a (good) sale on the PS4 version of Akiba's Trip. I know it's not supposed to be amazing but I'd like to check it out anyway.

Interested too. Wyrdwad said he genuinely liked it and that picked my interest.
Considering getting it for PS4, it's not like I imagine the game would be night and day on PC.

Parakeetman alert ! I read recently that Tales of the Forsaken Land was quite bad. Or maybe a failed attempt at doing too much. Do you confirm ? It would be sad as it's not like there are tons of Wizardry localized.

The title you mentioned is the PS2 game localized by Atlus USA, I've played the PS3 game localized by XSEED.

Damn, I look good in print.

Seriously though, feels surreal.

I know, sorry if I wasn't clear. Not dismissing you post in any way, the fact that you talked about Wizardry lead me to ask this question, that's all.

Guess I should get MGS HD Collection now and finally play Peace Walker, I remember reading that the game has co-op, how does that work?
Can I co-op campaign or only random missions in the game?

What Star Wars PS2 games are there? I already have Battlefront 2 on PSP (works on Vita) and Xbox (works on 360) but I would probably buy it yet again because I'm stupid.

I wouldn't know, unfortunately. It's definitely one of the older titles I'd check in the future, though.

Except for the first mission, you can co-op the entire campaign. Two players for each mission and four for boss fights. Game is so much fun in co-op too.

Damn that list is lookin' good depending on the prices. Is that Versus or Bon appetit? Versus would be a good get in preparation of estival Versus' localization
which will probably take like a year

Hm, nothing standing out aside from Miku, Neptunia, htol#niq and Class of Heroes. I'm curious about Arcana Heart and Toukiden, though.

EDIT: Didn't notice Growlancer and Gungnir. Were they good?

Does the earlier Golden Week needed a PS+ sub to get the maximum discount on games? I'm not subscribed right now and I just want to spend everything on games considering my budget for this (20 bucks).

TOTP - Go wild on the Golden Week sale !

I played it and enjoyed it for what it was, though the game is fairly basic and the dungeon designs are generally very simple and not much to look at. Unless one is really into DRPGs and does not care too much about graphics, then yes they are not going to have a good time with the title. Its not exactly a mainstream title basically. The first version was not the best either but unfortunately the US never got the second title in the series I think which was the better one.

If the game is cheap enough and you are a fan of DRPGs its still worth picking up. Its just too bad there never was a portable version of it instead of just being PS3 only. Never messed with the iOS version.

The game was midlined in Japan also, with folks saying its a "good" title for starting to mid skill range players, but as like an actual title with the Wizardry name on it, its missing a lot of things which makes Wizardry what it is. Other issue was the first version had some serious bugs in it, but am unsure if the US version does also.

Have all of the versions of the game here somewhere, but have not played them since their initial launch period in Japan.

Just dont expect something super awesome out of it basically, but seeing as there are not exactly a lot of DRPGs on the PS3 thats about all you are stuck with for the most part. Also the Class of Heroes2G PS3 version Gaijinworks is doing, am not sure if its out yet you might have to go and look that up.

• STAR WARS™ Starfighter™

Played Dark Forces, Racer Revenge and Starfighter. They were all good at the time. Not sure if they hold up. Starfighter is probably a better 3D space shooter than anything that has come out in the last 10 years for consoles. Will bite if there is a good discount. Almost thought I wasn't going to buy something this week which would be the first in about a year.

Just to be clear when I talk about wanting wizardry on vita I'm talking about the western pc games from the eighties and nineties, not the newer ones requiring localizations once the franchise died in the west and regained life in Japan. I guess I'll take both, obviously, but gimme the early ones.

Thing is the West does not seem to give a general shit about the Wizardry series let alone the older ones. Which is odd considering its a Western series to begin with. Its weird since we get "reboots" of other series, but wizardry in general seems to be left forgotten. Id imagine part of the issue too is the rights holder and such. :/

Japan for the most part has been the only place that has really kept it going for a long while including doing a bunch of mainline stuff. Though that trend has died off for the most part. Even Starfish who was basically the last remaining company to do a lot of the Wizardry titles seemed to have stopped. Along with their more core series Elminage and instead recently went and remade the shitty spinoff psp game that everyone hated on the 3ds. The biggest time for Wizardry in general with Japan was the PS1 / PS2 days which also included some of the titles brought over to the PSP / DS. From there its kinda fallen off / series in general has gotten heavily diluted.

It just goes to show the times are changing and the genre itself for the mainline hardcore stuff is not as popular as it used to be.

In the US apparently the following below owns the IP.

WIZARDRY® is a registered trademark of IPM Inc. and is used under license to Gamepot Inc.

No idea in regards to the companies IPM Inc. and Gamepot Inc.

At least on the PC there are a bunch of good traditional Western RPGs available for purchase the Legend of Grimrock series being one of them. Though most of those have little to no reason to bother bringing those titles to the Vita at this point in the game. Besides newer indie devs that already have working with the Sony platform as part of their plans. Which we already have a good number of still it seems.

While all the following below is in Japanese heres a list of a bunch of titles.

1.1 Wizardry #1 - Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord （狂王の試練場）

3.9 Wizardry Schema
3.10 Wizrogue Labyrinth of Wizardry

Am pretty sure there are a few more than this also.

On the subject of fucked IPs Im still pissed that Ubi is sitting on the panzer generals IP doing literally nothing with it. At least it was Ubi the last time I remember a friend and I were talking about this a few years back when Allied Assault came out.

Its unfortunate that there is pretty much a non-existent mil strategy genre for the Vita in the West. Im surprised too that Koei has not brought out the Nobunagas Ambition series on the PS4, though I know first hand that those mainline strategy games are a localization nightmare. Then all of the crap you need to have looked at with all of the historical events etc. But would have made a nice re-introduction to a long lost and loved series. Then the West could have gotten the Vita version too as there is one for the same game.

Half the games I'm looking at buying I already have but swapping carts is too annoying.

Raiden IV is pretty cool, way worth that $8

It is. It also takes up less than 500 MB of space in your memory card (one of the smallest Vita games in terms of size), so there should be no excuses.

WTF that's tiny. Ugh I guess I might get it
then never play it like half the stuff I buy lately
