PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | June 2014

It's still fun to play, I platinumed it :)

I plan to play for this reason. I think I'll wait for a lower price though. Don't know if I'll play for the console or handheld yet.

Persona 4: Golden. That said, you should also definitely get Ys in the future - it's a fucking fantastic portable ARPG. :)
I couldn't get into the Ys series. I tried Ark of Napishtim which I did not enjoy (I'm hoping everyone agrees w me). And I tried one other Ys game, can't remember which, but I just couldn't get into it. I really want to give the Ys another chance, but don't know where I should start. Maybe I'll just go w Memories of Celceta?

There's probably close to a 0% chance that Minecraft will ever go on sale, right? I'm interesting in the Vita version, I might just buy the PS3 version now.
Correct! Minecraft makes enough sales they don't need to resort to discounts.

The retail one will be on sale, but haven't heard a confirmation.

<3 I hate the big thirds don't support Vita, is a great system :(.

Hokanko is reporting that Bakumatsu Rock is getting an Vita version called "Bakumatsu Rock Cho Tamashi (Ultra Soul)".l

XSEED pls.

http://blog.hokanko-alt.com/archives/39577882.html#more

They already said they can't do it. The game is 90% visual novel with 10% rhythm game. The script is supposedly huge and the text scrolls vertically in thin vertical text bubbles. In another thread they said they would have to manually edit all dialog boxes to make them horizontal and modifies how the text is aligned.

Crap. So I was close to buying Minecraft but now I'm stuck between the PC version and the PS3/Vita version. Having it on the Vita would be awesome, but I read the PC version is better. Bigger, get's updates faster and has mods..Crap...I'm not buying both versions..

If the R&C collection is digital only then they really should make it a cross-buy title. Might just end up importing it from the UK anyway though.

But I'm going to try and enjoy the series regardless. The J&D collection wasn't that bad.

It is cross-buy, in the UK at least.

If you've already bought the PS3 version digitally you can claim the Vita version in a few days for free.

Yeah same here. Plus Insomniacs comments about not wanting another Full Frontal Assault Vita incident so I think it'll suprise people.

Come to think of it I still think that's why we haven't heard about Into the Nexus Vita after the rating, it was running on the same engine as FFA so they probably didn't end up getting desirable results for it.

Well, they surely won't launch two games of the same series on the same console at the same time. If Nexus is happening then it wouldn't be released anytime sooner than 4-5 months, and we know how Sony loves to announce their ports no sooner than 2-3 months before release.

tl;dr: Nexus could still be coming, Sony might want to launch the Trilogy first, then the "new" game.

PS3/Vita versions are behind on updates, but it has trophies and I like its controls better. PS4 will have bigger worlds and if you buy the PS3/Vita you can get the PS4 for just $5. Plus, Minecraft on the go is great! Really you won't be doing yourself a disservice in my opinion. I owned PC version and only play PS3 now. Your mileage may vary though.

Isn't it just ticking a box that says 'publish on vita too'? Surely they'll work technically? I just don't understand why they would ignore the opportunity to make more money - especially as they've made the effort to release these for PSP after the PSP has been discontinued.

So confusing. Has anyone tried contacting Konami for comment and heard back?

I'm pretty sure Konami EU wants them to be Vita compatible. Remember, they announced Silent Hill: 0rigins and Shattered Memories as coming to PSN for Vita, not PSP. It sounds like the ball is in SCE's court and the best a publisher can do is pester them. I've asked the Konami PR person who ocassionally posts on GAF about the North American games (almost none of Konami's stuff is directly available on Vita) and he told me to tell SCEA. That's talking to a wall.

Someone mentioned earlier that SCEE might be done with PSP Vita compatibility in general. That's a shitty thing to do given the few companies still putting out PSP software in NA/EU are likely banking on Vita compatibility. It also artifically limits the platform's (including PSTV's) software library because they're cheap and lazy.

I'm on the same boat... though, in my case, I purchased Minecraft back when it was in alpha, so I've been playing the game for quite some time now. I'm thinking about getting the Vita version when it comes out just to have Minecraft in my pocket, though I don't like double-dipping for what is, essentially, a redundant game. The thing is, Minecraft on PC is amazing. It is the way the game is meant to be played, period. The console versions may be good (I've personally haven't played them, but they seem competent enough), but there's just so much more you can do with the PC version that there's really no possible comparison.

I guess that it all boils down to one thing: whether you value portability over scope and potential. Getting the PS3/Vita version seems like the most reasonable compromise if you just care about the base, vanilla game. You have a portable version to play on the go, and you have a version at home to sit down in front of a big screen. That being said, if you don't care about the Vita version, then definitely get the PC version of Minecraft. It runs better, it has mods, it has more options, it's faster to set up, etc. There's no native gamepad support, though.

Sounds about right. I'm fully expecting Natsume's End of Serenity to not be Vita compatible when it launches in Europe soon-ish. Mystic Chronicles was never updated with Vita support unlike America. =\

This is the shit on Sony's part regarding the Vita that I will never understand. It's not difficult to understand why we are not getting first party games, or any meaningful marketing or E3 conf presence.Hell, I even agree with their stance on stuff like this. But you can't freaking spare one legal guy and one programmer for the simplest of things? These things are so simple and offer so much to the platform and they are too cheap to care even for them. We have to bitch for things that should already be there.

These are reasons for Vita fans to be angry about and get vocal. Not about no GTA or no Bioshock.

So what mods do you recommend? Or what is the main site that everyone uses. I'm leaning toward the PC version now. I probably won't use mods in the beginning though. I never really played Minecraft but, Terraria has changed my mind on it.

Another thing I don't understand is why SCEE is even allowing these games to go up on PSN without Vita compatibility. What's the point if they're PSP only? That platform will be discontinued globally by the end of the year. Why waste server space on content that won't be bought? Why not extend their life by putting it on new hardware?

SCEE do not operate in reality.

I feel like I'm buying a lot of Bandai-Namco's games these days. I've just recently bought One Piece despite me not reading / not knowing anything about the anime series. If Tales drops I would probably get it. Don't know if I'll buy Digimon if it won't be localized though, I can only read romanji letters and not hiragana / kanji.

Spare me Takao.

So jarring to see Nintendo's continuing support for the Wii U, despite it's stumbles, and Sony washing their hands of the Vita.

I feel it could warrant a good thread if someone wants to write it up.

What's the framerate like?
Pretty good. It has a few drops when there's a ton of enemys/effects going on at once but that's pretty rare.

Good point. It'll be interesting to see how it ends up running if it does end up coming out eventually.

It's puzzling.

I think it's one of those weird games that have to be downloaded on a ps3 and then transferred over to the Vita? No idea why though, it's strange.
Hamm I wonder if I can download Suikoden on my PS3 and transfer to my Vita. I'll have to try when I get home later.

What do my friends see if I am on a game on both my PS4 and Vita?
This....is something I've wondered as well. PS3 + Vita, PS4 + Vita, PS4 + PS3, what have you. I would like to think the most powerful machine wins out, and shows that, but it could be platform specific.

BY that I mean - let's say you and I are both on PS4 + Vita. I check your status on my Vita, I see your Vita game, but if I check on PS4 I see your PS4 game. Something like that. That is a quandry for sure.

Man, Terraria on Vita sure crashes a lot...

I'm going to lose all my maps one of these days, won't I?

really? this is the first time I'm hearing about the game having stability issues (outside of a few slowdowns here and there)

I've owned the game since launch, not a single crash. Well over 70 hours

Maybe try booting the Vita in safe mode and clean the file system.

I think I may have had one crash in all my time playing, which is a lot. As others have stated, it doesn't seem to be a common theme with it. The safe mode trick might help out...best of luck to you! Worse comes to worse, try deleting and reinstalling, all after backing up your world & character, of course :D

I mean, it crashes every few hours. It's not unplayable or anything, it just happens a lot more often compared to other games, that... well, don't crash at all.

I'll try that reboot & clean up just in case.

Man, seeing all these Terraria replies...shocking! All you miners out there, add me up! BaronVonBeans ! I'm just getting in to hardmode, sorta, working on taking out the bosses. Got the Destroyer down, need to get the other two, then Pantera Plantera, then Prime time, then who knows. I'm hypocritical when it comes to co op, as I would prefer to play my game solo, but if anyone wants some help, I'm down! Or to just horse around, too. I have yet to do any MP, mainly because I am afraid of randoms wrecking my snit up. I trust Gaffers to have the respect to leave existing builds as they are :D
How do you get into Safe Mode on Vita?

Might do a clean-up just for the hell of it.
I believe you just hold the power buttong down for a while, like 30 seconds or so. Either that, or hold the PS Button AND the power button down. One of them two! What Renpatsu said! I like that answer better. Seems right, as it's been a very long time since I've had any sort of hard freeze.

It's also noteworthy that a proper shut-off (instead of stand-by) every once in a while will do wonders for crashes. I power cycle (completely off, then back on) my Vita at least twice a week.

Listen to this Gaffer! All electronic devices benefit from this. Hey, while your Vita is off, give it a good cleaning :D I'm sure it'd thank ya for it!

I just bought the Ps3 version of Dragon's Crown after playing the Vita version for months now. It's a really really beautiful game on the big screen, but I vastly prefer the Vita's controls for this game. It was quite shocking really how spongy and unresponsive the Ds3 feels compared to how tight the Vita's Dpad is.

One more thing cross-save is pretty sweet.

Just got a 64gb card for my Vita. Setting up downloads from the browser store not working for others right now? Just gets stuck loading when i click to download it to the Vita, been that way for a few hours. Could it be because i already have quite a bit of stuff queued for download on the Vita itself?

Downloading everything via the system is just too much of a pain with it always resetting to the top.

I've been wanting to replay FF9 on my Vita for a while.
There's no way I'm buying the PAL version though but the whole process of getting the US version running on my Vita is so damn annoying.
Fuck it, I'm buying a memory card for an American account to buy PSone games.
Gonna have fun formatting the vita everytime I switch.
US PSN wont accept my cc right? So add buying credit on amazon with a fake address to the process.
Thanks Sony.
Don't bother putting the 60Hz versions on EU PSN, we love our games in slow motion.
This whole thing must be run by morons.

I just started playing ix on my vita, the game is brilliantly done in my opinion
