PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | June 2014

Is there any VN on Vita like Long Live the Queen?

None that I know of. Most of Vita's VNs aren't leaving the shores of Japan.
Xblaze is VN though.

Oooh. Top of the Page Recommendations.
Buy Deception IV. Enjoy being a sadistic person who treats their enemies as ragdoll pawns for the varied "devices".
Employ different traps during every game though so you won't feel that the game is repeating itself over you.

Man I'm apparently just not on the same page as the majority where ports are concerned. I'm enjoying the heck out of Borderlands 2 on Vita and recently picked up the GOW Collection. The collection's only problem for me is the absolutely god awful cutscenes. Other than that, I even kinda like what they did with the controls and I'm having a blast revisiting the game on my Vita

My man

That's not a VN.
Anyway i haven't played LLtQ but Princess Maker 2 on PC is easily one of the cutest and best games i have ever played and probably still the best game of the "genre"(not that i have played other games lol)

I'm budgeting potential retail Vita releases that I might be picking up in the near future.
So far I've got Akiba's Trip (I have an import copy, still can't believe it's getting localised), Danganronpa 2, Natural Doctrine on that list with Child of Light when it goes on sale.
Plus Oreshika 2, Freedom Wars (I need a release date!) when they confirm retail.

Any upcoming retail games that I'm missing or recommendations? AU by the way, I imagine I'll be importing most of them anyway.

Project Diva F 2nd (Fall)
I forgot this is getting a retail Vita release. Vita is pretty much my go to music game machine now.
Disgaea 4 (August) and Tales of Hearts R (Winter)
I've played Disgaea 1, but not 2 or 3. I know that the stories are self contained so I don't mind skipping them. Is D4 story any good?
Tales of Hearts R will be my frist Tales of game if I pick it up, but so far the impressions I've read make it seem like I should buy it for the battle system and the story isn't one of the things I should be putting much faith in.

Disgaea 4 has the best story in the series IMO, and it's also my favorite game out of the four I've played (haven't played Disgaea D2 yet, waiting for Vita version to be announced). The new sprites are also a huge improvement from the PS1-quality sprites in the first three games. If you liked Disgaea 1, get Disgaea 4.

Is Dustforce worth picking up on Vita yet? Has it been patched, or at least have one in the works? Really wanted to pick it up at release but the performance issues forced me to stay away.

First those two psp SH games, then Gradius collection and now they release Castlevania... :(, why the hell is Konami not allowing europeans to play all these games on our VITAs?

I really can´t wrap my head around this...so fucking backwards, i would double dip all those games in a heartbeat, they must hate my money.

The sad thing is that they really don´t give a fuck.

Uh, I made a "huge" mistake. I bought Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 for Vita when it was on sale. I knew it was removed from other markets and this one would not be an exception. So that happened... including the characters' dlc (Jill and Shuma Gorath). Surprisingly, you can still buy two packs of costumes. It hurts because I miss the other dlc which was the one I am interested in. I want to believe it was not worth of 10€.

I have yet to see Capcom DLC that would be worth even 1 euro.
Well, yeah, I agree. I do think those two characters should have been in the Ultimate version and not as dlc because definitive versions are really losing their meaning. But knowing this game will disappear... and I like Jill. :(

Because Konami gonna Konami, as always. What a disaster.

I really do not think it's Konami. Look at the PSP releases on EU PSN. You'll notice that after Sweet Fuse, none of them are Vita compatible. You have three different publishers there; EA, Natsume, and Konami. It looks like SCEE is done with PSP compatibility on Vita. Complain to SCEE. It doesn't even make sense to allow PSP releases on PSN in 2014 and not have them Vita compatible.

This might be the first time SCEA's Vita BC isn't the worst (though, there's still a tonne of PSP/PSone games that work in EU/JP that either require a PS3 or don't work at all in NA).

I'm not buying Shovel Knight on 3DS. I'm holding out for a Vita version.

Is there any VN on Vita like Long Live the Queen?

Buy it already man, it's fucking amazing on the 3DS. Even the 3D effect is great.

Double dip if it comes to the Vita. The developers deserve.

Well, all the DLCs were available yesterday at least, but the game was gone. And now there's two costume packs (of 15 or something) left...? Weird. I didn't even think they managed the store except Wednesdays or delay-days.

And I really hope SCEE isn't done with PSP-Vita approvals, because that could be annoying when Brandish arrives.
Every game seemed to work perfectly when the "all PSP and PS1 games work" thing happened, right? So why is this even a thing?

So maybe R&C2 still has shadow issues. Hopefully someone with a decent camera will give us a more comprehensive look at the game soon. I'm particularly concerned about how they'll map the controls. If L2/R2 are mapped to the touch pad, like Jak II, that means we'll be strafing with the touch pad... how horrifying.

Isn't it troubling that Sony has sent out no media for this game and it's due out in a few days?

Same thing with Borderlands 2, the media slammed it. I personally am enjoying the port but I can see why others wouldn't.

Ugh! Dont remind me! Since its mass media its best to keep expectation way way low. They did not even allow mapping controls in J&D collection and it was really hard playing 2.

It is, but at the same time they stealth released The Sly Collection and that's apparently a decent port.

I'd say the most concerning thing is the fact that no one has seen Ratchet running. IIRC it wasn't at E3. Sony showcased Jak (lol) at E3 2013 and Borderlands 2 at GDC.

I found BL2 fine. Hell, I coped with Jak okay.

It's hard to tell; they stealth release pretty much everything for the Vita, good or bad. The +5 seconds of gameplay that dude posted looked... okay.

Eh, I don't know. As I've said numerous times the Jak games were really technically difficult. At least with Jak L2 and R2 were only used occasionally, you constantly have to use strafe in R&C.

I hope R&C turns out okay.

But I am frustrated with how flippant Sony has been with its IPs, sending them off to subpar studios and releasing half-arsed ports. Seems like they don't really care about tarnishing their IPs reputation.

Well interestingly with Ratchet we got the terrible QForce port which Insomniac said they were "frustrated" by, then the mysteriously rated Into the Nexus Vita version never actually surfaced. So I don't know how much power Insomniac has over that kind of thing, but if they had concern over a port of one of their games they'd probably be the ones Sony would listen to.

I agree to the technical difficulty part. The ps3 ports were terrible too but they were not suffering due to less buttons. The thing is performance is no way affected by the control mapping which was a must.
I can forgive J&D ports as we have no idea how rushed they were. But going by Mass Media's release they had about one year to work on these ports.

Like everything?
Amen. If they don't promote Vita Minecraft they are certified morons.

Yeah I remember in the "Making of" documentary released to coincide with the release of the Jak Trilogy on PS3 a few Naughty Dog staff members say they're astounded they got them up and running in the first place.
Wait, what screenshots? Did I miss them?

Here.

Most were bullshot in the blogpost for it. They all were 720p.

The thing is sony can totally position these games as selling points for PSTv but guess they dont care.

Here.

Going on a limb here but these were sony's first hd port to Mass media. Mass media are terrible hence the lackluster performance on ps3 too.

lol:

The framerate is good, but the quality is kinda... Bad. [...]
I actually mean, the animations are good, but the quality isn't.

Sounds like another subnative mess.

Sony's first HD remasters were God of War and Sly Cooper. Bluepoint handled the first, while Sanzaru did the latter.

If the framerate is good though? That's what a lot of people criticized Jak for. Hardly any of the PS2 ports are native res, right? Might be good to get a native English speaker's impressions.

Sly collection is native and 30fps too. Guess Sanzaru wanted to impress Sony and continue making sly games with what horrible job they did with Gow Collection.
