It looks like Latin American countries won't be the only ones affected by a price hike to PlayStation Plus subscriptions. Australia, South Korea, and four countries in the Southeast Asia region (Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia) are also getting price hikes for the service.

As caught by Press Start, Australian PlayStation Plus subscribers will see hikes across all tiers, with Essential going up by $1 per month, Extra and Deluxe both going up by $2 per month.

This means that a one-month subscription to PlayStation Plus Essential will be now be priced at $12.95 AUD. 3 months will go up to $35.95 AUD, while 12 months will go up to $102.95 AUD.

Not too much compared to Latin America.

First Latin America, now Australia and some parts of Asia.

Looks like a global increase is being rolled out by summer.

Didn't they raise it last year? They can fuck off if they do this in the UK.
Edit: Oh it was in 2023.

This is just a negotiating tactic. By next year PS+ will be made in factories in the US. Mark my words. #winning
That's not true, not true at all, fake news, we only support one console in America, it's the Xbox, it's the best, the best console out there, and it's made in America, the American Xbox, only the best.

Boil the frog. These subscription services will always increase and increase and increase and usually they won't add any additional value.

The best thing people can do is just stop subscribing which I guess is easier said than done for those who like to play online games that aren't F2P.

The other issue is that Sony (and Nintendo) lock save backups behind Online subs.

PS doesn't allow you to save individual saves to USB as with PS4 and you have to backup the whole game (or is it even whole PS5, don't remember).

So if you want save backups, have to buy online sub.

It's the whole system. Very scummy.

Cloud saves are overrated.

I've only regretted not having cloud saves once and that's when I lent my family my PS4 and they dropped it somehow and I lost a lot of progress in Spider-Man New game plus and I think Horizon before I finished it.

If I could go back in time, I'd simply get PS+ and backup my saves before lending it to them and if I needed it again, sign up for it again for the restoration.

I currently have some years stacked together for PS+ but I doubt I'll renew long term ever again.

Sony doesn't guarantee that they will keep your saves though if you are not subscribed. And unlike PS4 you can't back them up separately.

Your saves are still tied to your account whether you're subscribed or not. The point is, it's not worth it just for cloud saves.

Yes, but if your hardware fails, unless you have backups, saves go belly up. But yeah, it really depends how much you value being able to return to old saves.

You can make a backup any time you want and back up the entire system and keep the backup locally. It doesn't even require that much storage.

Compared to paying 120+ dollars a year forever and increasing.

I honestly can't believe that in this year, our Sony saves are held hostage like this

It's an utter piss take.

It really has put me off using the damn thing, I don't want to subscribe to my saves, it's ridiculous.

The issue is you have to keep backing up the full system. And especially if you have multiple drives (I have main drive, second m.2 and SATA for PS4) it's a pain.

You are right and it is not worth getting PS+ just for it, but it's extremely annoying.

Sony continuing to disappoint this generation. Really finding it hard to stay committed to the PS5. But hey, let's complain about one $80 game...

I mean lets be honest here- why the need to constantly up the prices of this service? Why not just up the prices of your fucking games? Doesn't that make more sense? Surely they can't be losing this much money that they need to continuously raise these prices... but again, $80 USD for Mario is the REAL issue apparently in gaming today.

I feel like we quite recently had a price increase in Australia.

Given Deluxe is watered down Premium here, it feels like pretty bad value now. Most of the games I play through it are the monthly Essential games anyway, so I'll downgrade to that when my sub expires next year.

Already making mega bank on subscriptions and services. It's the easy way to increase pofits since they got you, just keep increasing and not improve the service. It's way to easy actually. I really hate the all digital age.

I'm wiating for one of them to use the printer ink cartridge econmics to full effects. Cheap powerful box, that is useless without a subscription and on-line connecting with zero options. It's a dark day coming my friends.

It used to be "Bread and Games". Very soon, it will be no games and soon there will be no bread. Good news is that we will eventually wake up from the distraction and look at real fooked up world around us.
