Good post. I'd also like to add that it is ok for people to have different opinions, no need to attack them for their different views. I've noticed hostility against anyone not a fan of Plus' new direction.

I think the hostility is because people are just in some sort of weird denial about what PS+ is. Did you not read my previous post? There hasn't been a change in direction. PS+ has always been focussed on "indie" games and games which were released as digital downloads. Here's a list of every single (NA) PS+ game that has been released on PS3. I've bolded all the retail games. There are probably a couple of mistakes because I'm doing it from memory but I'm sure I've caught pretty much everything.
As you can see, PS+ has ALWAYS been focussed on smaller downloadable titles, for the entire five years of its existence and especially at the start. There's one period of about 8-9 months between games 100 and 130 where the service had more retail games than usual, and people are acting as though this period is representative of the entire of the history of PS+ and it simply is not.
If Sony were to suddenly offer loads of retail titles, that would be a change of direction. At the moment it's continuing precisely as it almost always has done. So yeah, if I show hostility it's only because people refuse to accept what PS+ is and keep arguing that it's something it's not, and it's frustrating. It's not about peoples having different opinions, it's about people flagrantly ignoring facts because they don't suit their "opinion."
Nah, Plus went on a like 2 1/2 year run post the E3 2012 Revamp of at least (and often more) 1 AAA/retail per month (and they were often games under a year old). I think that's what people want it to return to and what they mean when they say it used to be better, as this is when most joined (pre ps4). The PS4 switch over was rough. Not only as it became mandatory for MP, but it wasnt/isnt getting the same types of titles as PS3 had got. Obviously it's harder now as PS4 is/was still in its early days, but that knowledge doesn't magically make people enjoy the service as much as they used to and people are getting impatient 1 1/2 years in.
But anyway, this doesn't even matter. You shouldn't let other peoples views get you down so much. Some people think think Plus used to be better, some people don't. Who cares? ¯\_(ツ

People don't want more than that, they want some more AAA offerings than there have been recently. That's not whining. It's paying consumers informing the provider of what kind of content they want from the service.
My Plus is set to expire on the 25th. I don't really play online all that much, or at all really. Haven't utilized online multiplayer since a couple weeks into Destiny last September (opted for my Xbox One friends instead). I'm genuinely contemplating not renewing it, as even the free game offering hasn't garnered any playtime from me.
If I could find a good deal on a year subscription, I'd probably bite again, but for $50 I'm much less inclined. Any good hidden plus features I've somehow been taking for granted?

I played Sound Shapes before and it was a neat concept and worth playing I thought, but the platforming mechanics themselves were largely boring.
Excited to see what Stealth Inc 2 has in store for me considering I liked the first one.

It was on PS+ a few months ago, did you download or tag it then? I don't think it's free right now.
Hmmm I should have but for some reason both the ps3 and ps4 version were marked as free and I was able to add both and checkout. The ps3 one should have shown up as Purchased right?

Yeah and yet from june 2012 to april 2014, 21 months, on PS3 Sony offered 37 retail games and from november 2013 to August 2015, 21 months, on ps4 Sony offered 1 retail game.
Quite the same isn't it ? It seems that it's more focussed than ever on smaller downloadable titles...

Why are you conveniently ignoring all the retail games Sony have given away on PS3 during this time? It's simply not as viable to do so for PS4 because the library is limited, the console is so new and third party titles on PS4 likely cost a lot more for Sony to get on the service for this reason.

At least get the numbers right. We've got 4 retail games on ps4: Lara, Injustice, inFamous and GZ.

To be fair Lara Croft is in reality a download only title that happened to have a retail release as well. It was still a budget title. Infamous was just the expansion/DLC not the proper game, and GZ is a glorified demo that only got an overpriced retail release to get a little extra money from their fans.

Whilst available at B&M retail I'm not sure either Infamous or Ground Zeroes are entirely fair inclusions; the former is stand alone DLC, the latter is a short prologue. I've played and beaten both and enjoyed them immensely but neither is much more than a taster for the full experience... "coming soon" or "available now on Playstation".
That said, and on topic, at least with the current swing of conversation, I enjoy the lower budget games we've been getting on PS+ for PS4 but would also be keen to see some bigger budget games get added as the library begins to mature. I can see the point 1er tigre is making and don't think it is invalid as an opinion.
I don't tend to buy many games at all, either AAA or - for want of a better term - Indie, and despite being a GAF member I don't really follow the gaming news very much outside of a select few old friends. The joy of PS+ for me has always been about discovering cool games and franchises I hadn't played before or had missed the first time round. Some of these may be AAA some of these may be smaller, but either way I'm not interested in just one type or the other being the mainstay of PS+, I want variation and I want diversity and that means some indie, some AAA, some new, some old, some art house, some shoot bang, some thoughtful, some dumb, some more mature, some for the kids...
Y'know? A little something for everyone.

There have been 27 retail games since the PS4 released, and another on PS4 if you want to count it which makes 28.
It's fewer, but hardly drastically fewer is it? It's hardly "OH MY GOD CHANGE OF DIRECTION" fewer, is it? And like I said, that period you cherrypicked was an anomaly anyway, it's not representative of the history of PS+ like you so desire it to be. So again:

Is it really "flagrantly ignoring facts"? Even your own list has a noticeable retail/AAA increase through say #70 to #160 and then an equivalent decrease in numbers to the latest releases.
The reasons for this are definitely possible to explain away in the context of the console, console family and service life cycle but I can totally see why the perception of the services value may have changed for someone who has either been a member from the start or joined during the AAA heavy period.

That list includes all the cross-buy titles as well, so stuff that was released on PS4 and Vita but happened to work on PS3 is included. And this happens more since the PS4 was released, and only happens for indie games and not retail games, so recently the PS3 list appears more indie-focussed than it actually is. It's still a decent percentage, but retail games are more dominant than it looks on first glance.
Like I said, numbers-wise there's been a slight decrease in retail PS3 games over the two 21-month periods that guy chose to compare, but not a significant one. Especially when you consider he chose the 21-month period with the highest incidence of retail games to compare against the most recent 21 months.
Does this mean the EU/US are going to split offerings again?

Do the count yourself. I'm tired of being the only one looking for figures.
Like I said There were 77 games downloadable via ps+ in 2013 and in 2014 There were 89 games downloadable. But in 2013 only 12 were cross-buy and in 2014... 41 of them were cross-buy.
For 2015 we will see at the end of the year.

The point was another one though. You said that crossbuy makes you get less games and that's plain impossible.

Ahaha.
I know where the 77 number is coming from, it is wrong. Aside from the cross-buy games, you are counting the replacement games. The 72 I'm mentioning is also already unique games, not including cross-buy versions.
If you want to count including cross-buy versions: we're at 48 unique games at the moment. If I count the extra cross-buy versions, I get another 33 games. That makes 81 games already, in August, with four months to go.
