PlayStation Stars coming to a close as SIE evaluates new ways to evolve future Loyalty Program efforts

I guess ff11 from 2002 still more profitable coz square keeps it going.

Dat longevity :P

FF11 is also more fun than the entirety of Sony's PS5 first-party lineup.

Shame it's over, but to be honest I have gotten a bit tired and lazy in going into the app to opt-in to everything manually. Would have been better to have auto opt-in and have it available in their console. But I guess the whole point of this is to drive app usage and give them another marketing vector, maybe they have got people habitually using it to the point where it has served its purpose.

If Sony is moving away from exclusive games , the very thing that kept people in their ecosystem, you'd expect them to invest more heavily in services that build long-term loyalty. But instead, they're failing to offer compelling services, or even scaling back the few they have. It seems completely irrational.
How much time until they cancel PS+ Extra/Premium?

I got decent use out of it but no one else of my friend list did, from what I could tell. Probably didn't have the engagement they wanted. There were some especially pathetic campaigns for pushing Veilguard and Assassin's Creed that will run a while yet that struck me as an odd sort of desperate.

Can't really relate to the people calling this garbage. I don't care about trophies or those weekly assignments and stuff, put I still managed to get two €5 psn vouchers through the stars program. No idea why one would complain about that.
those people are idiots basically.

Damn, I am 300 points away from a £5 voucher with nothing I want to buy.....

Only reason I got PS+ essentials again after the price rise was because I had store credit from this.

"As the current version of the program is ending, there will be changes to the PlayStation Stars program over the coming months. For current PlayStation Stars members, this means:

PlayStation Stars End Date:
This version of PlayStation Stars officially ends on November 2, 2026 and will no longer be available after this date.

Digital Collectibles:
You can still keep your digital collectibles even if you cancel your PlayStation Stars membership and after this version of PlayStation Stars ends."

to me it looks like they will do a full reboot of "playstation stars" they keep mentioning this version.

because it actually first meant for NFT's
But NFT quickly becomes dumpster fire so theres no point keeping PS stars

I had a few £5 off vouchers for this stars program. I bet the nerds on the reddit forums are pulling their hair out over this. Some of the people would spend hours even days following up with customer service about a virtual trinket. I bet this was one of the reasons they got rid.

I have some questions, if I may...

How much money did you have to spend to earn that $5 here and $5 there?
How much money did you spend to earn $60 or $70 in your wallet?
Why couldn't people engage with the program through the console? To my understanding, it was app based or site based only.

The Playstation arrogance is back, and I'm not looking at sticking around if this is the case going forward. This was a nice little incentive to buy games digitally. Using that voucher was OK when you had built up enough points but now they wanna take it away? Fucking stupid.

i dont understand why you launch a new loyalty program but show half ass effort.

remove always online PSN requirement and you will attract and retain more people

It's a shit system compared to Microsoft Rewards anyway.

Lots of missions don't even work anyway. It's time consuming, slow and unreliable.

They should look at what Microsoft is doing and also reward purchases.

Just redeemed my points like a week ago for some store funds, this sucks. Gave me at least some extra incentive to purchase digitally.

I suggest anyone that hasn't downloaded it to try to see if you got some points for your digital purchases to get some store credit.

EDIT: nevermind guess they are ending new sign ups TODAY, well fuck thanks for the warning Sony, shitbag company

The new trend is to announce things with zero warning, especially with how fast news travels. Companies are afraid to give a heads up because they know people will take advantage of a good deal. Giving them a timeline just creates urgency and draws attention when they'd rather bury this news.

For some reason I thought this happened last year, so I've been redeeming $5 credits as soon as possible in case they canned it. It was a good program but along with Nintendo, it seems like they don't feel they need extra encouragement to push digital. My guess is the administration costs of the program is significantly more than the credits people are earning.

as a fan who used the wallet funds i say booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

How is people saying it was garbage? I redeemed Many $5 psn credits with this program.
Because it wasn't a return for every dollar spend and the games I buy on PS were essentially never a part of it. Compared to Nintendo and MS which reward you for every purchase it was by far the worst. MS rewards you just for playing games. I earn ~$25 in rewards per month just for playing gamepass games.
