PlayStation Stars coming to a close as SIE evaluates new ways to evolve future Loyalty Program efforts

Sony doing what is does best anymore - take away from their customers. Shame, as I was able to earn quite a bit of PlayStation credit through this program. As someone who tends to prioritize PlayStation gaming but still play a real good bit on PC, actions like this and others they have taken, makes investing into my Steam library all the more enticing and likely.

whoever is in charge of Loyalty Dept will get roasted by consumers/customers for a long time

definitely they do not want people to earn points and get pay lesser for the $80 1st party games they are implementing

Ive customized my case several times since this became a feature. I've also redeemed quite a few PSN gift cards through their point program. The trophy cases adds zero value to the overall experience. Who really gaf about these things and no one ever talks about them. I bought a few Legendary or Rare trophies for points I should have used for PSN cards. If you're not using the PS App, it's pointless to care about this case.

Some of their stuff like "sign in during the month of.." to complete a campaign or play 4-5 games in their cherry picked selection to get another trophy. Stupid, easy, and very little benefit. I'll miss the $5-$10 cards even if it only covered the game's sales tax. I remember PSN before sales tax too.

People can switch to pc and if they do no one will come back so current Sony need to chill with their bad decision making.
I still have a PC but most of my parts are very outdated now, I really hope for an actual Steam machine to return in like a console form factor. Or I might just wait for Steamdeck 2 with a dock.

Great PSA thread. FYI everyone, Helldivers 2 is currently available for 10k points if you go all the way to the end of the store offers in the reward program. Just grabbed it.

Lmao what was the fucking point lol

Redeeming points for actual PSN store wallet funds ?

I must have redeemed more than 60€-70€ since February 2022, it was actually a good incentive to buy games from the store.

Fucking Sony man...

This is another reminder that A) good things never last and B) There's nothing "pro consumer" about all these multi-billion companies out there, MS doesn't care, Sony doesn't care and Nintendo especially gives exactly 2 fooks about you or i.

Can't really relate to the people calling this garbage. I don't care about trophies or those weekly assignments and stuff, put I still managed to get two €5 psn vouchers through the stars program. No idea why one would complain about that.

It's mostly people who are salty because they didn't know about this, and missed out on a bunch of free moneyz.

Playstation realised their userbase actually plays games and was stacking up points very easily.

PS Stars was free, FFXI still has a monthly subscription, it's an mmo, not really a good comparison, like at all

As someone that rarely buys anything digital i was never able to take much advantage from the program, i think i redeemed 5€ when i got points for subscribing the PS+. But is a nice program for ppl that buy alot of digital games. Its a shame they shutting it down.

Well shit. I was trying to save up coins to get Astrobot. I only had enough to get a $10 PSN credit, so I clearly wasn't even close to fulfilling the Astrobot dream.

I still don't know what this is
Its a Loyalty program like many stores uses. But you need to register and install an app on mobile. Then when you buy certain things you get points that then you can change for PSN wallet funds and other stuff. Thers also other stuff, but dosent really matter.

For anyone that doesn't know, if you have the PS app, you are probably already enrolled in it as it's integrated into that. There's an icon at the top (it should look like a little star with a number in it, iirc) that you can access it from. Don't even need to subscribed to PS+, go redeem your credits!
