Nice thanks. Very cool unboxing actually, showed me everything I wanted to see. I'm still glad I'm getting that FEB for that carrying case. Seeing it up close, I really do like that case. I didn't know it had a compartment for cables also. Looks like the perfect case for me.

Funny, because the same video convinced me to cancel my FEB preorder. The case is basically 3 times as tall as the Vita. Not sure how I would ever use it. Now I am trying to find the super slim case from the $39 starter bundle.

Just canceled my Wipeout preorder (waiting for a confirmation that a patch will fix the load times) and ordered UMvC3 since I missed it on consoles.

Looking forward to having this thing in my hands in a few weeks.

I doubt a patch will fix it. I thought that the load times were due to data transfer speeds, right?

I flip-flopped myself.

Canceled my 3G preorder for the FEB bundle today. I want the unit in my hands now, I don't even care about the $50 anymore. You win Sony, you win.

That unboxing video yesterday convinced me. The case is pretty sweet. I'm just hoping Little Deviants is at least worth a couple hours of my time.

I'm getting pretty tempted to switch my WiFi to the FEB... Right now what I have preordered:

Vita WiFi
16 GB card
Wipeout
Hot Shots Golf

What I'm thinking is switch to the FEB, and cancel the 16 GB card. I really don't plan on downloading very much any time soon as you can normally find the games cheaper on Amazon than on the PSN. This way I can get it a week early, get an extra game. And maybe in the future if i need a bigger memory card, I might be able to find one a little cheaper than they are now.

ugggghhh... I'm probably going to end up doing this.... Or maybe the 3G launch....

That there will be one or that it will actually fix the load times? I thought that tweet from Stuart Lovegrove saying "@Hasemo don't worry worry you'll get a fix very soon . How's that for a promise ;)" was enough.

We have no idea what causes it. If the Tech Director at Liverpool says a patch is coming to fix it it seems unlikely its a transfer speed issue.

A developer at Liverpool confirmed on twitter that they're working on a patch

People said the same thing about skyrim PS3 and that got fixed ;)

1up interview with Bend says the US/Euro version of Uncharted has fixes and new additions over the Japanese one, though the JP version will get them in an update:

Being back at work after the Japanese launch did result in changes to fix certain other things up for the U.S. release, however. That primarily meant adjusting the difficulty -- increasing the challenge in the Normal and Hard modes -- and tuning the game to work out remaining kinks, though Garvin also added an Easter Egg that's not in the Japanese version. "You can't miss it," he says. "Just beat the game on Hard and play it on Crushing. We also changed the text on the Relic...decipher it to see what it says." Reese adds that the team further added a "Black Market" feature using Vita's Near function to help players earn more collectibles, and he says that players who bought the Japanese version of the game will be able to download these bonus features as well.

Maybe this is old news; but it's news to me.

If it fixes the load times I'm all in. Great news.

Thanks for taking the time to go through all those games. How good is Field Commander? It's not available on the European PSN store, but I'm considering tracking down a UMD copy of it.

the loading times really haven't been bothering me for some reason. the only thing that bugs me about 2048 is the lack of a racebox mode. i just tweeted to that stuart lovegrove asking if they'd consider putting it in. it seems like every wipeout fan was disappointed by its absence.

How good is Field Commander? It's

it's a pretty good Advance Wars-esque strategy game - i liked it, not as much as AWs but definitely worth a pop.

I'm still working through the other stuff - rather, the PS3 is downloading a bunch of stuff that i'll try once it's done.

Anyone else who skipped the PSP buying a Vita? Wonder how many of us there are? The Vita fixes nearly all the problems I had with the PSP. More power and that sexy screen is nice, but having real analog sticks with better positioning and easy access shoulder buttons sealed the deal. Being able to use the right stick for PSP games is a great bonus! This is a 2 in 1 device for me. Looking forward to the 22nd. :D

FEB no longer showing release date delivery on amazon anymore. Just like the 3G launch bundle.

Get those orders in guys, before the first shipment is sold out ^__^

i skipped the psp entirely. i'm there for vita on day one.

*Raises hand*

I never owned a PSP. I'm looking forward to playing a lot of games I missed out on (some are not available on the PS Network Store yet, but I'm confident they will in time): KH, FFVII:CC, Persona 1, 2, 3, Tactics Ogre, FF:Type-0, Monster Hunter series, and a lot more.

The real (dual!) analog sticks and the sexy screen and the graphics and everything about it makes me want it... other than price.

In NZ the cheapest version is $450NZD ($372USD) - that's the WiFi only version :/

I'd love to get it, but I have no idea how often I'd use it... the main time I played with the DS was in my house... I generally find I only play crappy ios style games when I'm out and about.

Did the exact same thing tired of waiting and I'd buy that case for $30 anyways. Plus I'm getting a 32gb card

Guys, do you think that Vita is way more powerful than a Tegra 3 device such as the Transformer Prime tablet or it is somewhat even?

To the people who bought gravity daze off of the japanese store... Is the game text heavy? Would I be missing out on a significant amount of the game by not knowing much japanese?

Guys, do you think that Vita is way more powerful than a Tegra 3 device such as the Transformer Prime tablet or it is somewhat even?

Way more powerful. It's probably about 4-5x the GPU performance of the Tegra 3. The Tegra 3 probably wins in CPU performance a bit, and I'm not sure about system ram performance, but the vita at least matches it there.

I have never owned anything Sony, I have always been an Xbox guy, but this Vita is day 1 for me, so I have a lot of great Playstation stuff to catch up on!

Its hard to say, there aren't any benchmarks or games that run on both platforms and PowerVR haven't and probably won't release any specs (clock speeds, fil rates, memory bw etc. ). I'd have to expect that Tegra 3 is more powerful though.

I must be the only one left who is waiting till the 22nd.

Nah, you're among the wise crowd =) My days of driving two hours to buy an import of Zone of Enders just so I can play a demo of Metal Gear Solid 2 first at a high cost are over. I can wait only 7 days and use that money on more games.

The PSP is probably one of the more underrated systems out there with plenty gems, and of course there will eventually be the PS1 games. So yeah, it looks like you're in for a treat.

Now that the PSP is pretty much dead, hopefully they start dropping prices of PSP games.

The technology found in the Tegra 3 may have a very slight advantage with its companion core, but also keep in mind that the Vita is just one hardware configuration and developers only have to target one machine with a very specific hardware setup.

Devices that use Tegra 3 are going to vary and software targeted for a Tegra 3 device may be less optimized as a result.

The end result is that software on the Vita may have the potential to look as good or better than anything designed to use the Tegra 3 technology. But i'm no expert :P

The Vita uses a GPU and CPU very similar to what you find in an iPhone 4S and/or iPad 2. Only those both use dual cores for the CPU/GPU where the Vita uses quad. So in the right hands it should have about twice the potential. And then also consider that iOS software usually has to work on multiple iOS devices that have different hardware (so we get into the whole 'optimization' topic again...)

modnation plays great, but the framerate is consistently below 30fps. there is so much blurring and other added effects, that it's just making me wonder why they didn't trim down the gloss a bit so they could have a racer with a higher framerate. the game looks great in motion aside from the framerate, but ugh.

is that something a developer could fix in a patch? or is it just going to be like that forever? i honestly wouldn't recommend paying full price for it, despite it having so much content.

Yeah it seems like I will be getting some decent older games as time goes by and more things are updated to the SEN.
However I dont see PSP games going down in price anytime soon, now that they are going to be available to a whole new audience, as PSP games are going to sell like crazy I assume?
I sure hope that the PSP essentials Monster Hunter FU doesnt go up from the £7.99 I can currently see it at on the Media Go software on my laptop.

Yes that's a really important factor, games can be tailored to meet the very specific strengths and weaknesses of a single platform.

Do you guys think Vita games will get better looking as time goes on or have developers already squeezed the majority of the power out of the Vita. I never owned a PSP so did PSP games get better looking?

Works - copied over and playing :D

Also copied in last batch , think these are all confirmed :

  • Killzone Liberation
  • Burnout Legends
  • God of War Chains
  • Sega Genesis collection
  • Patapon 2
  • Armored Core 3
  • Ultimate Ghouls 'n Ghosts

That's the way it is with any console including the PSP
