That's not that big of a deal though, Gen III brought it up to 386, so breaking 400 was obviously going to happen. And Sinnoh had a very small amount of Pokemon too, only 107.
I'd say Gen VI will probably fall between Gen IV and Gen III's amount, around 115-120.

The Inkay evo method sounds totally BS, lol. Though you know there's gonna be some gimmick poke somewhere in the dex. Probably will utilize some functionality of the 3DS somehow. Gyroscope is a possibility, but I don't think it'll happen.

Okay, so I just beat Emerald, and something in the game got me thinking... Bill created the box system in Yellow, and he shows up a year later in Crystal. Jasmine in Crystal shows up in Platinum meaning that game takes place roughly at the same time as Yellow/Crystal. Cynthia, the champ in Platinum shows up in White/White2 meaning that game takes place a bit after Platinum.
Emerald though- in Emerald, the Box system owner gets an email from her proud grandfather "Bill". So... gen 3 takes place decades after all the other gens but has only like 1/2 of the pokemon? Weird.

Well, as far as I remember, Bill never calls Lanette his granddaughter, he just praises her for upgrading his system. In the Japanese version, it is said they co-developed it. So, as you see, they aren't taking place at different times.

I approve of this Arcanine and Gyarados appreciation. Two best gen 1 pokes.

This made me think of how it's strange there isn't a RNG effect for the chance of missing a Pokémon with a thrown Ball. Dependent on the target Pokémon's size, perhaps.

I'm glad there isn't, I remember how much of a pain it was to capture the legendary birds in Red and Blue because of the ball missing.
