it's heavy rain which means it's coming down relatively hard. if water attacks hurt them, surely rain will, too.

Fire types already get weak in rain. They don't need to get gimped even more.
Then how would they live in the wild? There's a difference between hard rain and pressurized jets of water.

Also while we are at it might as well just make it one hit kill anything that isn't a water or ice type because they get a cold and die.
or you could buff the other weather types too
or just nerf them all so weather will go away

They just need more Pokemon with the Cloud 9 ability. Like only Golduck and maybe 2 other Pokemon have it.
I stand by my assertion that there should be a move that gets rid of weather (or hell just make Defog do this so it actually has a purpose) and/or the abilities that cause weather should also make the infinite weather revert to lasting 5 turns like normally when the weather causer leaves the field.
As it stands if someone uses a Pokemon with drought/drizzle/sand stream/snow warning at the start of a battle and you don't happen to have a Pokemon of your own with that ability or a weather move then they basically have the advantage for the rest of the battle even if you knock out the weather causer in the first turn of the battle.

They should improve cloud nine and air lock by giving full stop to the weather and not only when the user is active.
