Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

They could still have the speed limiter, ya know? As someone who lives in a place with just one pokestop in a big radius, having totouch the screen whiile I go on a walk to hatch some eggs is fucking ridiculous. It's not playing the game at all, it's touching the screen to keep it from turning off. Makes no sense whatsoever.

because they want ppl to buy their go accessories. If you didn't need to have screen and such on, people would not buy them.

just downloaded the app, how can i tell if i approach a nearby Pokemon?
lots of users said the footprints arent a good way to measure in which direction you should go

If you open the nearby window. the upper left pokemon is nearest, the lower right is the farthest.
You keep your eye on the pokemon you wish to find and GO.
If it moves up on the list, you're heading the right way.
If it moves down, you do a 180

I'm getting more bummed every day they fucked up rural and suburb areas that much.

It's no fun seeing all you guys sitting in front of thousand lures on Stops and I'm here all alone, battling some turkish kids in one arena.

Yup. Today when i was out on a long walk both (yes 2) of the stops that's even remotely close to me couldn't be used cause, hey, servers fucked right now so guess I'll play nothing of Pokemon today then >.>

Worst is the fact that the gym here is close to a popular commute area to and from the big city so everyone who commutes past it and work in the city owns it with like 1000+ CP pokemons at the first of what, 7 or 8 ranks?

NOpemon for rural players :|

Honestly, the game would probably review much better if you didn't have to keep restarting the damn thing because of it freezing.
Definitely to an extent, although most of the actively negative reviews are focusing more on the shallow mechanics.

Can you not just switch off your automatic screen timeout? Or get an app like Stay Alive if you don't want to do so globally?

thats pretty good to know and sounds much more effective than what i have heard from other people, thanks a lot! :)

What makes you say that? Low HP? Low attack power? :(

Mine has Thundershock and Discharge. Not sure if that's the best combo but seems to be useful for all the Pidgeots and Vaporeons around.

I have a same one and it does virtually no damage to lower level Pokemon, even if they're weak against Electric. Discharge is good, but Thundershock oof.

Caught a CP 822 Mr. Mime! Not a bad haul for a trip to the hairdressers.

Yea did my first hunting with this last night and it is very effective. I added it to the FAQ as a preferred tactic instead of trying to give my estimate of the footprint distances.

Picking one individual Pokemon instead of keeping the full tracker open is actually kind of a red herring, at least until you're in 2-print range.

I know it's possible to get pikachu as your starter, but is there any advantage to doing so? Is pikachu stronger or rarer than the other starters?

makes no real difference. all the starters including pikachu are so rare for most people you'll struggle to level them. they'll mostly just sit in your box collecting dust, although i keep mine for sentimental reasons.

why do people hate on instinct so much

last I checked Zapdos would destroy your flying red and blue asses! Thunder destroys flying last I checked! Your masters are WaF against my master

Is there a difference in the quality of pokemon between lures and incenses?

I know that an incense is only for you + follows you and a lure is for everybody + at pokestops, but i mean does one have better pokemon than the other?

Then use battery saver mode and put it in your pocket while you go walk. Mine stays active and tracking for as long as I want.

It seems like they did their job correctly though, seeing as you are actively going out for a walk just to hatch the eggs. It's called Pokemon Go for a reason.

I see what your problem is in terms of battery drain but I just don't agree with the idea of the distance counter going up doing whatever else. It takes all the effort out of hatching eggs and everyone would have daily batches of eggs cracking while doing jack shit with the actual Pokemon-catching component of the app.

Beat a gym, got the congratulations screen, clicked on the 'add pokemon' and it booted me out and showed was still owned by the previous leader. Tried it again, same result.
Wanted to try it again, but then the Pokemon wouldn't even appear during the gymbattle anymore. :\
Can't believe I wasted data on that and all those goddamn Rattata, Weedle an Pidgey. Apparently that's all I'll ever encounter 99% of the time for as long as I'll play this game and I'm level 15 now.

If the servers can't handle the current playerbase, then why on earth would they open up for more countries? I'm not laying a penny towards this game as long as it's buggy and the servers are shite like this.

I'm not so sure if I want to keep wasting mobile data on all that on the long term.

Because they are jealous of our glorious yellow asses.

(Also because Instinct has the least players)

Plus theres no chance of holding a gym once you have it <_<

Well in 2 days this app used 50MB mobile data >.>

The starters, whichever you choose, are really more for flavor than effectiveness. Just pick the one you like best- you won't be using them much to make progress in this one.

I plan to evolve my starter Squirtle into a Blastoise personally, but really out of sentimentality alone. It's much more likely you'll find a way higher CP (strength rating) version of your starter at some point and want to use that one.

Honestly, not really. It's personal preference. By the time you catch enough of the starters to evolve them, you'll have stronger starters so you'll probably end up transferring whatever you picked.

It's just harmless banter. Anyone taking it truly serious needs to take a few steps back and realize it's a game.

Looking it up, it seems like Jolteon can only get Thundershock as a fast attack. Not even Spark which only deals two more points. Damn. Electric types got robbed there. Maybe they're faster to compensate? Not sure how speed works in the game though if it's even a thing.

Will this work with the new updates coming out for android? Cause I'm not sure how these things work lol

Not 100% sure, but your save should be account wise, so when the app releases on Google Play and you get it from there, it should take your Google account save.

NOpemon was a nice attempt, but I'd have gone with "Pokemon: NO", myself.

Used 112 MB over the course of a week or so.
It's all neat and new right now, but if in a couple of weeks all I'll STILL encounter 99% of the time is a Rattata, Weedle and Pidgey this isn't worth it for me.

If you compare it to usage time, is it really that much?
Facebook uses that within 2 hours

Can't you just like... adjust the timeout on your screen?

Lost a couple great balls and a 510 Gloom to the stupid app freeze after the pokeball captures the pokemon.

They need to fix this shit. I would be livid if I spent money on pokeballs and ended up losing them and the pokemon because of this.

Got it, thanks team. I guess I'll just go with my boy squirtle then.

Well for me mobile data is a non issue. The issue is that no matter how I look at it I need to spend money to find pokestops (drive and parking) or simply straight up purchase transactions.

Both of which are unacceptable for a game that's barely a game, mechanics wise and one that struggle to work at that.

It's all fun and games right now, but I'm already tired of the rural problem added with the favorable city aspect. Completely kills it for me.

Well that makes perfect sense and I wish everyone would do the same. It's scary to me that so many people seem willing to drop cash even though the servers themselves are still so frequently unstable. They need to fix it and I'm sure it's priority one on their end, but profiting before the do so is gonna give them the wrong idea.

What you want to be doing is focusing on raising your Trainer level. Sick of them though you may be, the three Pokemon you mentioned are some of the best in the game for that.

A+ choice

I don't have facebook, and before this game I didn't even have 3G activated.
Even if Pokemon Go didn't use any mobile data at all, I'd still drop it on the terms of connection issues, bugs and those 3 aforementioned critters I encounter while there's supposed to be 150 that are catchable.

I really like the game but I work M-F and by the time I get home and head to the gym I can hit up like 2 pokestops before the servers are dead the rest of the evening. I have no pokeballs and half of the ones I purchased were lost because the server/game crashed and resulted in me not capturing the pokemon and loss of all my supplies used.

Living in the middle of nowhere NJ compared to my friend in NYC (currently working in LA) is BS. "Oh look a Charizard, Dugtrio, Aerodactly, Machamp, blah blah I have 3 lures on top of my office). He said I need to use lures to capture better/rarer pokemon. I would if I could. Unfortunately every night when I walk to the park the servers die and the 2 pokestops with lures over them are unable to be accessed as I'm bitten to death by mosquitoes.

Right now I'm looking at my nearby list and see a Dragonite 3 paws away. It's either in the middle of the highway near my office or behind the gated office building across the road. It doesn't matter anyway I have no pokeballs. Thankfully the gps glitching walks my eggs for me

I'm level 10 and live in a suburb so been encountering the usual rattata, weedles, pidgeys, eevees, and caterpies. Sometimes though grimer, muk, jigglypuff, scyther, and starter/their evos like to appear to make me go outside for a couple hours to look for them.

a friend shared this little tidbit with me

Finding I'm running super low on Pokeballs now that I get revives, potions, etc from PokeStops. I haven't even done any gym battling so those have been useless so far.

You'll then have a shield icon in your shop which you can click every 21 h to collect your 10 coins / 500 dust per Gym!
Man that is so cool. I can't wait. Here's hoping there's no strong Pokemon at the gym.

A Cubone, which is my favorite Pokemon, has popped up on my radar but has 3 paws. I really hope I'm going in the right direction when I go home.
