What's a good place to level at level 53, when I've beaten all 16 gyms? The new Elite Four is a little too hard for me, and Mt Silver only gives up 400 XP a Pokemon.

the grass patches outside of mt silver(where the pokecenter is at the entrance) give a decent amount of xp...without exp share it'll give anywhere from 800-1100 depending on what you run into

edit:
or bring a decent leveled dark-type and grind the first e4 trainer with exp share...easily over 1000 a piece...and dark types will demolish that entire time

After playing through silver, sapphire, fire red, diamond, and platinum, I have seen exactly one non-gyrados shiny, and it was a freaking Bidoof. Wish I had the luck some of you are seeing.

So I dug out and dusted off the old Nintendo USB WiFi adapter and tried to get it installed on my PC (mostly so I don't have to mess around with my router).

It won't install despite the fact that my PC clearley recognises the adapter as a Buffalo device.

:-\

Anyone able to point me to an installation/driver guide for people who don't want to mess around with Nintendo's crappy software?

The adapter is a Buffalo WLI-U2-KG54-AI, by the way.

I attempted to do the exact same thing with mine, only the light on the device never turns on and upon installation I have the same error you do where my computer says it sees it but the installation thing doesn't.

Fun times.

Only shiny ive ever seen besides gyara (ive played every pokemon game a ton) was a roselia in diamond, and I had no poke balls.

I just sat there letting its pp run out because I didn't want to leave it.

God damn it, Nintendo! I love your games, but your operating software is worse than Sony's >:-(

Has anybody ever done chain trades through the GTS as a joke?

Like, I have a Japanese Houndour I want that wants a Cubone in return, and since the Safari Zone hates me, I'm considering finding one on GTS to trade for the Houndour. Anybody ever done this?

EDIT: Of course once I post this I catch one...

Doesn't the dongle thingy have compatibility issues with Vista? Not sure if Win 7 works either.

Nobody's able to help me? I want to trade some pokeymans ;_;

It's hard to find good help with it since it's bit of a relic. Try the Buffalo Support Forum. I remember during the Diamond/Pearl days that few people on Gamefaqs had difficulty with the installation and got it fixed. The old topic on it might be still in the Buffalo tech forums.

The dongle has compatiblity issues with EVERYTHING. It's had issues since the day I bought it back in 2006. They updated the software on Nintendo's official site and even that doesn't work.

What I want to know is if Buffalo themselves have some drivers I can use to turn it into a normal WiFi adapater rather than have to use Nintendo's broken-ass janky drivers.

Don't internet companies give routers practically for free now? I got mine for free. Why not just set up wireless internet for a couple minutes every time you wanna trade?

I have a wireless router. I run my Wii, PS3, DSi browser, main PC and girlfriend's laptop off it. It, however, uses a WiFi encryption scheme that isn't from the stone age (WPA-PSK as opposed to WEP).

Frustration.

EDIT: Found the problem. Nintendo updated the drivers to run on Vista, but didn't bother to compile or release 64-bit drivers on the off-chance that a Nintendo customer might want to address all their RAM.

Problem is, neither did Buffalo.

Back to the old drawing board, then.

I'm using the Nintendo Wi-Fi adapter. It's not compatible with Windows 7 at all and Nintendo aren't releasing any more software updates. Whenever I want to use it I have to boot up my old laptop running XP and connect it to that. I did previously have issues with having to reinstall the software every time I wanted to use it, but it works fine now after the last software update (1.06, I think).

Someone close just offered me a shiny Azelf for a Phione. Why? I can breed hundreds of Phione! Why a freaking shiny Pokemon, let alone a legendary, for a Phione?

If I post about her information...etc can you guys help me to know if it's legit or not? I can take it and be fine with it even if it's hacked, but I don't want that.

I'm the king of shiny Pokemons.

Hmm, my dongle has always worked just fine for me. Than again, its plugged into a decrepit tower running XP, so...

Man, I grabbed it back for like twenty bucks then, and now it costs a fortune. Which sucks, because I need a second one....:p

You must be doing something wrong then. I use my Wi-Fi adapter with my Windows 7 PC and Vista laptop whenever I've been doing trades here on GAF or for the wi-fi events.

Drivers don't work with 64-bit operating systems. That's probably the problem.

WHY THE HELL DOESNT IT USE TO FREAKING DSI WIRELESS >_< I DONT WANT TO CHANGE MY ROUTER TO WEP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pokedsi rage >_>

Yeah, definitely seems to be hacked. IVs for that would have to all be around 31...

EDIT: Level 100? Well that's not as absurd then. Still fishy, but not knowing the Pokemon's nature or EV layout, it still seems to have 30-31 in a few areas. You could try checking the calculator although you'd be guessing EPs...

For folks with network issues, this isn't really much of a solution, but I did notice that the better N routers these days have dual radios. Depending on the model, I think you can set the 2.4GHz channel to 802.11b WEP and the 5GHz channel to G/N, and then turn off the b channel when you need to. (I'll be trying this out on my new router this weekend.)

jdogmoney: That could theoretically work. I'm just wondering if they cleared up the GTS for HG/SS. I know back in Platinum that sometimes you could have the right pokemon and level, but still not be able to make the trade (I'm guessing because somebody hex-hacked their pokemon to appear as something different - saw plenty of Charmander Mews for awhile.)

wtf

I'm using max repel but I'm still finding Pokemon in the grass.

Edit: How's everyone finding shiny Pokemon? Only one I've ever had was the Red Gyarados.

He was very offended when I questioned him. He talked about RNG and stuff I don't even comprehend. He was really pissed off lol. I only wanted to check, not that I don't trust him; but I don't fancy the idea of playing with a hacked Pokemon.

The running shoes increase your encounter rate.

Also, Max Repel repels all but the strongest pokemon in the area.

It may be because your lead pokemon's level is lower or close to the same as the wild pokemon's

Never knew this. I was trying to raise a skorupi but it's causing me a lot of trouble :lol

The game that gets top billing (i.e. the first mentioned) always gets the most attention and the most sales. Thus:

Red outsold Blue
Gold outsold Silver
Ruby outsold Sapphire
Diamond outsold Pearl
Heart Gold will probably outsell Soul Silver (SS being sold at a $1 discount at Amazon.com says yes)

It's light-hearted ribbing at this phenomenon.

Aww I got the special Pichu with the odd shaped ear, so cute.

I also reached the big town with the mall where you get the bike (don't know the english name) but the Casino in the european version is godawful, I was so disappointed... can i have a video of it in the jpn/usa version?
