Pokémon Heart Gold/Superior Silver |OT|

The music is so good in this. I was disappointed with the music in Fire Red/Leaf Green, but not in these remakes!

Also, you know how in Gold, Silver, and Crystal, they used Saffron music in Cerulean City and Celadon music in Fuschia City, and how they completely removed the Cerulean/Fuschia music that was in Red, Blue, and Yellow?

Well... they brought it back. And that makes me happy.

Also, so is the Cinnabar music, though it sounds very sad, the reason is possibly obvious.

ROUTE 2 AND LAVENDER TOWN MUSIC. I NEED IT!!!

Edit: Found Lavender, still no route 2. Cinnabar Island music is absolutely soul crushing. :(

Jeeze, it's just so slow, and so sad. :(

Lavender Town seems like it's been made more uplifting. And the Champion/Red music sounds awesome, same with the Kanto Gym music.

My head is already spinning already, but I like a few of the Trainer sprites, have to look closer at the Pokemon ones sometime later.

Can't wait until Spring next year..

Significant editions:

Rotom and Forty receive Pain Split.

Many underused Pokemon receive Super Fang. Stallrein cometh. (Sharpedo Super Fang + Aqua Jet, too).

Blissey (and a number of walls) receive Block. You must now practically switch your special attacker when Blissey shows up, or die.

Heal Bell is more wide spread, and might see some use.. but I wouldn't expect a huge deal. Uxie in UU with Heal Bell is a nice touch though. Likewise, a boost of the rare Gravity team.

I guess they're... okay. But I'm comparing them mainly to the old ones, not the newer ones:

They could have at least looked at this Jolteon for reference! Seriously!

You could always restore the train system and use that to travel between regions

Wasn't that already doable in like Crystal? You fly to Mt. Silver then move a little, it's Kanto; move some more it's Johto.

And about Blissey, it's not like that bitch wasn't already fucking overpowered, they also had to make it insta-kill against half the rooster. Giving new movements to underused to spice things a bit was nice, but that was really not.

Really? I didn't notice. Maybe I should have experimented more.

Also, I just listened to the couple tracks on Youtube. I must say HGSS has easily the worst music out of any Pokemon game, in my opinion (out of what's on Youtube of course). That includes RSE, which I didn't like too much.
Am I alone here? I don't like the new remixes at all.

Preparing to face Whitney now. My team is level 19 Bayleef, level 18 Flaaffy, and a level 16 Rattata. I've been babying Rattata up, because he is so very weak, even with Super Fang. He'll be an OKAY HM slave later with Rock Smash, Strength, and Cut.

Scyther at the second Gym gave be a bit of trouble. It has the decent strategy of Leering at you, then Quick Attack, or U-Turn against the weakened defense. Flaaffy at the time could only 3HKO with ThunderShock, so I had to be careful.

Haters be damned. Gamefreak proves that Gold/Silver series are indeed the pinnacle of the franchise. Where else would you get so many awesome rare pokemon, many awesome new features and improved UI?

Those Youtube videos seem to have some slowdowns and the sound quality isn't perfect either since the guy apparently held a recorder next to his DS or something. Some songs actually start with a theme from one of the various routes; was he just playing while making these recordings? Either way, should sound a whole lot better when you actually play it.

I like what they did to Ecruteak's theme by the way, but the theme is such a classic I kinda wish they'd kept it simple. Only real disappointment is the Champion theme which is waaaaaay too soft.

edit: Never mind that, Lavender Town's worse. It doesn't even sound creepy anymore. :/

Yeah, I guess I'll keep judgement for some better rips or when I play it. Just saying what I think of it currently.

By the way, Lavender Town isn't supposed to sound creepy. This is Gold/Silver, 3 years after RBY where Lavender became a radio station in place of the grave tower thing. It was not creepy in the original GSC.

I now remember why I nearly always choose Totodile in my plays.

My rival chooses Chicorita. I love beating that green monstrosity. :lol

Holy shit!

I'm gonna use the fuck out of that. Kinda wish it was integrated to the radio though (one channel that plays the old music depending on the area), but that's like the smallest nitpick anyone can possibly have.
I can't believe they did that. Totally blown away.

Edit: Wait, so making sure, this works during everything, right? Battles and stuff?

Now, the wait. :(

Still, I'm getting so pumped. That
GB Player
is AWESOME, but after hearing some of the remixed tracks on YouTube, I'm happy either way. It's just really cool that they added the option.

Still, I'm so excited about this game. I've got HeartGold coming while my girlfriend has SoulSilver on its way. I imported the original Gold when it came out and played through it as a 10 year old, so I doubt that I'll have any trouble with this. She's kind of worried, but everything is so internet-friendly at this point, I'm sure she won't have any trouble.

Whooo, finally got around to catching the three regis in my sapphire version, and it only took me six years!

I've been meaning to pick up emerald for the longest time (really want to replay the Hoenn adventure) but the cheapest I can find it anywhere is forty bucks, and that's for a used copy :/ I guess I'll just transfer all my pokes over to platinum and restart sapphire. I have to have some way of keeping myself occupied while waiting another SIX MONTHS for these games to come out :/
