Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire |OT| Hoenn Finally Confirmed

woo got my Kangaskhan

Adamant, 31/31/31/x/31/31

I got a Rotom off wonder trade and I'm wondering is one of the Rotom forms good in Battle Maison? Paritcularly Rotom-W?

Quick question, I know these are the new hotness but as someone new to 3DS I just picked up Pokemon X. Is anyone still playing that or is it done?

Am I better off returning that and picking up OR or AS?

It depends. What was the last Pokemon game you played?

XY is a good game for beginners. Better Pokemon variety early on, linear exploration, and has less mechanics and gameplay features than ORAS. ORAS's main game is initially so-so, but it gets really fun as the world opens up.

Honestly, this will be my first; hence why I went with a whole new generation rather than the remake :)

Ended up using Camerupt, Sharpedo and Grovyle for most of the Pokémons in Winona's gym. Much better spread than having Manectric destroy everyone in one move.

Play X. It's still a good game and it's compatible with ORAS, so you can still trade and battle between versions.

Rotom-W and Rotom-H are both very, very strong. TBH, all the rotom forms are decent, but those two have the best typing/move coverage respectively.

Oh I know, I'm just asking if it's a good partner with Mega Kangaskhan in the Battle Maison, though I guess all Smogon OU/Uber Pokemon are probably solid enough. :V

Use greninja in the maison. The cpu can act so dumb at times with protean shenanigns and scald can be such a lifesaver.

Anyone that can help me trade evolve 4 pokemon from X and Y, Magmar, Electabuzz, Karrablast and Shelmet. Want to pokebank them and bring them to my Sapphire. 2509-2163-1431

Hello everyone, thinking of buying my little brother a Pokemon game for Christmas, would Pokemon Ruby be better than Pokemon Y? He never had his own Pokemon game before.

Thanks.

Got trolled by Rayquaza, thought I had a Jolly 4 IV but it turned out to have 30 in Speed which has the same value at level 70.
Now I feel bad for having a subpar one.

Dunno if I should feel bad for having a 3 IV one. At least I know my Speed is actually 31 (unless I missed a perfect IV).

It's ok; just a shame that its defences aren't high. Whenever I SR, I always try to get close-to-perfect IVs in HP, Def, and SpD.
I guess this one is better?

Groudon, Adamant
HP : 31
Att : 31 (+10%)
Def : 27 - 28
SpA : 12 - 15 (-10%)
SpD : 31
Spe : 12 - 13

He's slow... but that's pretty much its only problem. Is a slow Groudon a problem in competitive use?

3IVs is ok but I was aiming for a Hp-Atk-Spd spread, having imperfect Speed isn't that great, especially after spending an afternoon SRing!

I feel a bit cheated.

Slow Groudon? I wouldn't think so since it means your weather will activate after the other guys.

I feel soooo out ot touch for competitive battling... I'm not sure if I understand well your answer, actually.

The weather effects are indeed one of my concerns, since I don't understand well (yet?) how they work, even moreso when Primal evolutions are coming into play (and can lock the weather if I'm not mistaken).

I threw away the 31 Speed I had this morning because its defences were average, and now I have great defence and offence, it's slow... I can't expect a 5IV Groudon popping out of a SR, anyway.

Abilities apply based on the pokemon's speed. The slower your pokemon is, the later the ability will come into effect. Since weathers cancel eachother out, the slowest pokemon with drizzle/sandstream/drought will have its weather in place.

OK, many thanks. So the slower get the chance to choose the weather, hence a slower Groudon can be nice (and he's slower than others Ubers, so a fast Groudon won't play first very often, anyway). The only "problem" is that if a faster Kyogre goes primal first, the weather will be locked into rain.

I think I'll keep this one, this time. There'll be plently of SR later, anyway. ^_^

I can't say how much Gaffers are kind and helpful... I appreciate it, really.

Wow, Episode Delta is JRPG as fuck, right down to the writing.

So what's the postgame like in this? Thinking about picking up sapphire.

If you're expecting a postgame on par with HG/SS or even Emerald, prepare to be disappointed. It's postgame is a little better than X & Y's though and gym leader rematches are still a thing, thankfully. Along with the Delta Episode, it's a pretty serviceable postgame.

The dexnav makes catching things to complete the national pokedex much more fun than it was in X+Y. And the introduction to the final battle of the post-game storyline, Episode Delta, is in my opinion the coolest, most exciting cutscene that Pokemon has ever had. Secret Bases and contests give you quite a lot to work on, assuming you didnt dabble in them much in the main game.

But it is little content-wise on the level of White 2. Battle Maison makes a return with little to no changes. Nothing as engaging as the PWT or randomized dungeon battle-wise. Not many new areas to explore. The soaring mechanic gets you some cool new Pokemon and it can take quite a while to find them all. Overall I was happy with the level of post-game content and say it's worth picking up.

Looks like I'll be picking this up. Need something other than Luigi's Mansion to play on my New 3DS XL. Will be nice to jump back in anyhow since I only ever played Blue (albeit about 50 times).

How's the 3D in this? Thinking I might disable it if it runs more smoothly.

I question how gamefreak thought anyone would find that freaking scanner in sea mauville without looking online or crazy luck.

There's 3D only in a few cutscenes, caves, and 1v1 battles. The 3D framerate is... grim anyway, so I always have it off.

If you care about the story, you'll enjoy ORAS more after going through XY. The rest is subjective, as it comes down to which region and gens you prefer (XY has a lot of gen 1 fan service).
