Pokémon ORAS: October website update - Screens, Trailer, new Megas

Just don't use it if you don't want to? What's the problem again?

Having the option alone annoys diehard Pokémon fans. It does not annoy me because the game scales a bit high at Gym 7 and 8. My Nuzlocke will not be that bad since I do not have to grind like I did playing Emerald.

Had no problem with using it but seriously people, you don't like it, don't use it.

Made the game way more enjoyable for me, and I'm no newbie to Pokémon. Logged hundreds of hours winning online battles with my IV-bred, EV-trained team. Exp. Share allows you to experiment with more team combinations more quickly in single-player. And it's an option, so if you don't like it, don't use it.

My second post again
I'm not going to use it, but I don't like it design wise because I think it cheapen's the experience. The only way it can work is if they actually properly designed the enemy levels around the EXP share, which they didn't in XY. I also like the old EXP share because it was a good way to level up one Pokemon while you continued on your journey normally, now if you want to do that you have to box all but two Pokemon unless you want all of your Pokemon to get over leveled.

I'm literally about to give up on a Y version Nuzlocke right now because not having the original EXP share is such a huge detriment to training new Pokemon without over leveling your current Pokemon.

During an event last week, Game Freak's Junichi Masuda confirmed that trainer customization had been removed from the upcoming remakes: "In terms of the customization of the trainer, that was really kind of a special thing for the Kalos region, which featured this kind of motif of France and really focused on this beauty and fashion aspect, which is why it was a prominent feature in that game. For this game, we're focusing on adventuring elements, so we don't have the actual free customization of the trainer, but you'll see the items you use throughout the game visually represented; for example, when you're underwater, you'll have this little mouthpiece that lets you breathe. So there's some cool stuff for how your trainer changes clothes and puts on accessories throughout the game."

What a dumb non-reason to remove a feature that everyone loved.

Well personally I liked to use the old exp. share to get that one mon that's lagging behind up to snuff. Nowadays if I wanted to do that I'd have to deposit half my pokemon and switch my main around to avoid getting overleveled. Shit sucks.

I just wish they would bring the old one back and make it a separate item, call it the exp. all like in r/b/y idk.

It's great for post-game training but with my playstyle it's more of a burden before that.

Yes, I think the best way to do it would be to have both items and then at the beginning of the game it would ask you if you are a Pokemon Master or not, if you said no you get the EXP All early in the game, if you said yes you get it late/post game. It would be a great way to have a difficulty level without actually changing any of the trainers or levels.

Lovely, they dump the ability to customize for re-designs most consider inferior to the originals. Remakes ain't gonna have the feature at this rate.

Why is France the only country allowed to have fashion sense now? Goodness, Masuda, even Japan is stylish.

I'm currently playing X and well the new expshare made my life so much easier it's not even funny.
i don't mean as helping me breath through the game easier, I mean I try to keep all my mons near the same lvl.
I still have a box full of mons I have to push from lvl 20 to lvl 25.
Why? because otherwise I'm left using the very same pool of at best 10 mons and the games gets so boring this way.
Seriously I still have to grind and there's something like 5-6 mons that are getting overlvled as a result (since they're the ones getting to tour the other 5 to get them up to speed).
I just got my 4th badge and I'm at 65hrs already, remove the new xpshare and I'd never play the game again and I would already be at something like 120hrs or something.
It's a big reason I never did finished Diamond.
Seriously it's a great feature if you want to try to have the maximum options while discovering the game.

You're just jealous of our swag :p
yeah it's BS and disapointing

That explanation made no sense Masuda wtf

Just like following pokemon and the sky exploration this time I wouldn't be surprised if that feature stays missing in future games as great as it is. They better surprise me with gen vii and bring them all back. :l

Yup. I'm not saying people can't enjoy the new exp. share but game freak should really get better at providing people options. Well that and the aforementioned content they keep introducing only to cut it in the next game.

Gen III has always been a decent challenge, I love it for that. I get that they want to keep the games accessible but give us some difficulty options jeez.

I hope either ORAS or the next generation revamps IVs and makes it unnecessary to have to breed ten thousand times to get the desired maximum traits. This is what's put me off from playing the series anymore. I LOVED Pokémon when growing up. When I picked up X/Y, I couldn't continue playing it with IVs being in the back of my mind. Sure, I can choose to breed relentlessly, but that's bullshit. They can keep it unique without making it so fucking dumb, and in its current form, it's exactly that.

Honestly, I get the fact that Masuda wants every 'gen' to have its own identity, but from an outsider perspective, it seems like a bit of a 'just wait, and maybe we'll put x feature you liked so much back in a future gen so you'll keep buying'.

Secret Bases are dope, don't get me wrong (especially with all of the new features associated therein), but it really seems like a shaky reason to have something as new as character customization (including stuff like skin tones) in one game, then pull it out in the next, and save it for a later gen, even if it is an eventual X/Y remake 3 gens later.

Par for the course, though.

They probably ditched that because they wanted to keep the original characters. No idea, really.

Probably true, but IMO, the remake/redesign of Brendan and May don't necessarily do them any favors.

just... please... please keep the battle frontier...

They haven't said no yet, which is better than nothing.

I totally agree with people with two different EXP Share options: Maybe one that does 50% EXP share for only 1 Pokémon and another that does all Pokémon, but only 10% of EXP is shared. Scale it down a bit to make it not so overpowered.
Also my guess for no customization is because he did not want to add a feature with a defined main character. If it is gone by the next main game, then I will eat some crow.

I wouldn't really worry about character customization being gone, this is a remake after all. Hell, they apparently made PC inefficient again for the sake of a throwback.

I still want mega grenjnja. So glad I can use the transporter to bring him over
wait for Z/X2/Y2

Yeah I seriously don't understand this. It's like two steps forward, one step back with every iteration. You can rationalize it all you want but at the end of the day it just comes down to "it wasn't there the first time" even with all the stellar new features we're getting.

I honestly don't care about character customization, but nerfing the PC. GOOD GOD WHY GAME FREAK

The soar mode seems pretty awesome. Sucks for no customization though. Hopefully they send out the newsletter early for long time subscribers. I got September's on the 18th

Maybe someday they'll merge the two teams they have and one will remember what the other did and actually INCLUDE features to make things uniform and not this "different game, different identity" BS.

Eh I guess it depends on what you want to settle with. Getting a 6IV mon is tough but once you've got a good pool of breeding parents a 5IV or less one really doesn't take too long and really that's good enough for the majority of em.

That's just my opinion though. I mean also really like the whole breeding mechanic as mindless as it is so that helps.

I'm fine with it being overpowered as long as they keep it late/post-game / easy mode only. But as it stands now it just makes the games waaay too easy and 'just don't use it' really isn't the right way to deal with the issue imo

Not having customization kinda sucks but eh, I'm too used to Gamefreak removing features in between games.

Gonna be weird having all this money in the game and nothing to spend it on again, haha

Again, before going completely insane, this is a remake.

Wait for X2/Y2/Z and Gen 7 to cry afoul of "lack of customization".

Where did you read/see this?

Common sense really. They did this with older remakes (though HG/SS is the "least" offender while FRLG is the worst offender).

Honestly, I don't think being a remake really excuses it. It's like if FRLG didn't include a female protagonist because they weren't in the original. Customization is simply, in my opinion, a pivotal part of customization-focused, multiplayer-centric games like Pokemon, and shouldn't be tied to a certain region.

It just seems like silly reasoning to me.

Pokemon.com is a fucking mess. Impossible to retrieve my username... I had to create a new email address just to make a new account.

C'mon Nintendo.

I feel like I'm the only one who is not insane in this stuff. Even the "one step forward two steps back" argument doesn't really catch me since all of them aren't exactly true.

Yeah did you forget being unable to plant berries, have certain Pokemon not evolve because muh 151 pokedex, and other stuff?

It's a remake trying to bring back (at least I hope so) the feelings of RS while adding some modern flair. You could argue that customization is that, but it is low priority the more you look at it.

As I said, wait for the third version/sequel and the 7th gen. If there's no customization there, THEN you can raise your pitchforks.

I guess this sign-up thing works just for US people right?

I'm in Philippines and already have an account since last year due to XY stuff, so nope, it isn't. Don't forget to check to opt for newsletter for the code.
