Pokémon presents announced 8/18 6am PDT

To be fair a lot of people bought Sword and Shield sooooo....

And why would anyone think this case will be any different?
They have their fanbase in the palm of their hand(at this point one could call this Stockhold Syndrome). They could serve poop on a plate and it would still sell millions. Pokemon brand name is stronger than even the games themselves, any company would dream to have that.

If these fucking games had a title any other than pokemon they would be getting the 2/10 they deserve. I'm still mad about that gamefreak shill at IGN giving sword a 9.3. It's like some of these people have never seen a video game before. OOOOOH LOOK AT THE PRETTY COLORS! Except it isn't pretty it's ass.

That's my point. They bought garbage before and they will buy garbage again.

Game Freak reach at point no other can. No effort, loads of money, less cost. The power of the Pokemon franchise.

How is it possible that the biggest brand in world have the least impressive looking games. These games look ugly.

(But I am buying that Arceus one though.)
You answered your own question.

Game Freak has no real incentive to put in effort due to the huge success of the franchise, especially after the sales of Sword and Shield. They could do another remake of gen 1 and it would sell 15 million copies easily.

I'm not a Pokemon fan, but it looks like Legends Arceus has been getting a good reaction.

Bandai Namco made pokemon look like this on the same hardware just a few months ago, the more I look at the Arceus trailer the worse it looks lol.

Damn, I can see why people are mad at this, I have to agree, the game looks really bad, Botw looks 10 times better than this.

You can make a Switch with Ps5 hardware and this game would still look like ass. (just with less aliasing and at higher res)
The problem is Gamefreak/Pokemon Company, not the hardware.

The Switch isn't THAT weak, this thing is more powerful than the WiiU/360/Ps3.
There's no excuse for the game to look like this:

Even Oblivion Looked better (outside of the horrible faces)... in 2006, like 4 months after the launch of the Xbox 360

Agreed 💯

Arceus looks like the Pokemon game I've wanted for a long time......... if it was being made by a group of fans in their free time on a budget of $0.
Those environments literally look like they bought the cheapest, lowest quality stock assets they could find and then threw some Pokemon in there.

Meanwhile a more niche, lower selling franchise on weaker hardware:

Weird though because if it's on weaker harder, how come to Xenoblade 2 looks like fucking dogshit? (it does)

You could move this game to Xbox Series X and it would still look the same. The Switch is more than capable of pushing nicer visuals than these although it may sacrifice some resolution to keep the framerate up.

You won't find anybody more on board for a hardware bump, but this game doesn't push the Switch except maybe in poor engine efficiency.
To be fair, cannot blame them. Consumers have already proved that they will eat up the same shit (and old formula) year in year out.

Why didn't they spend more time making Sword/Shield better looking? Because:

when people will buy it anyway?

To be fair it's an on-rails game (so it should look good given the limited stuff they need to render in view) but yeah overall I agree. There are lots of good looking (or let's say decent looking) games on Switch.

The landscape in Pokemon Legends: Arceus look way too muddy and hideous. Just hire some landscape artists, damn.

I think they are definitely releasing it too early.

As much as people in GAF like to shit on Pokémon, they are still much more willing to talk about that game than Shin Megami Tensei V.

Being SMT fan in GAF sucks. :messenger_loudly_crying:

Too early for what? You think Pokemon fans give a shit about graphics?

This game will outsell every exclusive on competing platforms regardless.

In fact, Pokemon fans standards for graphics are so low this be a revolution to them.

Why even release BDSP, and then Legends: Arceus a few months later? Just give BDSP some time to shine, then release Legends Arceus when it's actually polished in a year.

Xenoblade 2 looks like dogshit because of the image quality. At its best it runs at 720p, has no anti aliasing and uses an oversharpening filter. Give it 1080p and 4x AA and it would look gorgeous.

Gamefreak is releasing this game not Nintendo EAD.

This is a polished graphical masterpiece by their standards.

I'm guessing the release date is to keep the Switch train rolling at full capacity in early 2022 during the off season.

My guess is for Pokemon 25th Anniversary. Which is dumb because it's being released next year, anyway. And Pikachu isn't even shown in Legends.

BD/SP is being outsourced to ILCA outside of key staff members, so I think most of the team is on Legends Arceus.

I mean the Switch is stronger than the WiiU, there's really no argument there. The stats show it and basically every single game that has been ported over from the WiiU has ran or looked better (if only slightly in some cases) on Switch.

Though I agree Xenoblade 2 looked surprisingly worse than Xenoblade X, specially the resolution. I think they might have been over ambitious with some elements and it forced them to scale back the resolution to keep a decent performance. Also keep in mind the game was only done by a fraction of the team and they had to outsource a lot of it because a large part of the studio was helping Nintendo with Breath of the Wild at the time.

With that said, Xenoblade 2 still looks pretty good when docked and miles ahead of Arceus in both visuals and art direction.

Fucking sake... this can't be real.
To be fair those "reactions" are 100% fake. There's no way anyone over the age of like 10 is that excited for a Pokemon game. Plus his movements etc are so exaggerated it's obviously just him being "in character" for his videos/streams (whoever the fuck he is).

We all hope so.
