Pokémon XY |OT4| Don't Bank On It

Mackelol, idk what happened. I think I lost anyway, lol.

That was a really nice match! Even though I didn't do too good, I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. It's slightly close games like these that make me really excited, regardless of whether I win or lose. I was hoping I'd get flinch hax on that final Rock Slide, but alas, it wasn't meant to be.

Forretress performed way better than I had expected, which is quite a surprise since it has average IVs, coming from Gen 4. It also seems like Tangrowth has earned its spot as a mainstay of my team, as I just can't ignore the bulk it brings to the table, and the nice support moves it has. Still, I think I'll go back to using Quick Claw on it (I know, hax, but I think it'd be a lot better than Leftovers).

Yeah, that was a fun one. I thought I might get walled by Tangrowth once Swellow was gone. But dat Specs Latios.

I keep getting blown out by GAFfers... I guess my team having no cohesive strategy behind it yet is a real drag against teams such as yours, and I was totally helpless from start to finish.

However, could it be that you were using Leftovers on more than one pokémon? I think I read some lefties activations on both Mr. Mime and Sylveon.

The best team I fought against usually have no cohesive strategy. They are just able to neutralize every threats they face to some extent. Yes, I have more than 1 leftovers for my team.

If it makes you feel better, I just got destroyed by that baton pass team too. :p

I was really dumb there. I actually had things to deal with it (Focus Energy Kingdra, Vivillon with Bug Buzz) but by the time I realized what was happening, it was too late.

Haha, I was predicting Vivillon to lead and I need one turn of speed boost to outspeed you. Mr.Mime, which is also a fairy type, has soundproof so I'm not that worried about Kingdra or Vivillion.

I got kinda lucky against mackelol when the confusion works 3 rounds consecutively (12.5%) in my favour.

I really should have just Quiver Danced and tried to kill Scolipede, but I was afraid of the Rock Slide if it was a sweeping variant. Your team is really good, though. You thought of everything. Mine is just a bunch of things thrown together. :p

Can someone give me some advice? I don't know anything about competitive battling, but I have an Azumarill with perfect Attack IV and max Attack EVs. Huge Power is its ability, but it has a Calm nature. This hinders Attack, right? Should I get a different one or will my Attack be good enough anyway?

You should definitely get a different one. I'm sure someone here will give you one with decent IV's and nature.

I thought a Uxie would be enough to trade for a Latias on GTS but boy was I wrong -_-. They need to completely overhaul that thing

How would overhauling it help this specific situation?
If someone doesn't want an Uxie, at least for a Latias, it kind of does nothing.

Have you seen what people ask for in GTS? Non-tradeable Pokemon. What's the point of that? It just takes up way too much unnecessary space. They should tweak it in a way you're not allowed to request Pokemon that can't be traded on GTS. That's how they can help fix it.
An Uxie isn't as rare as a Latias
Huh, strange. I haven't come across a Uxie until recently but I've seen plenty of Latias/Latios around.

I for one am grateful for the shiny animation. Tending berry trees (I attach berries to my wonder trade box stuff so I know which I sent and which I received) I encountered a shiny Burmy. The dark patch is a dark blue and yet another one of those "shiny is hardly any different" ones.

The GTS filters are garbage as "special" Pokemon includes not only the un GTSable but also the box legendaries and Pokemon you have becomes useless if you have lots of legendaries.

Hey man, you still need a Latias? I've actually got an extra one. I still do lots of trading on GTS to get extras of stuff to help folks fill in their spots.

Yeah, always afraid I'll come across a shiny that's hard to tell and will skip it but then have to remind myself the pretty sparkles if one should arise so I don't have to worry too much about squinting to see if I'm missing one. I do have a question regarding it though... in Hordes, does it still do the shiny animation? I'm always afraid I'll miss something that's kind of hard to tell like Wingull.

It's obvious the folks who threw the online portion of this stuff for GTS and all never really use it. If they did, we wouldn't have moved backwards from last generation with random trading folks.

Edit: Crap thought I was editing my previous comment to add this. ;_;

The sparkle animation does still happen in a horde. I had it when I encountered a shiny Scraggy

Awesome, thank you very much. I can stop freaking out with Hordes and visually confirming them all after camera changes angles, LOL.

Edit: VICTORY! My Fire Mage hoodie came from TeeTurtle today. Cutest Charmander while looking evil ever.

Hey, I read on awkwardzombie "... shiny Pokemon now that they're EASY MODE..."

Is there some new method like SVs or are we still best served with standard masuda?

Rating Battles on the PGL. They added the ability to check the Top 12 Pokémon. This includes details on data on what moves they use, abilities, items etc.

They are RIDICULOUSLY in-depth

BhUgrPcCcAARPce.png:large

Shows what they were used, what moves they used that took out Pokémon, what moves were used to take them out most. You can search for ANY Pokémon. It's astonishing. It's a game changer.

Oh really? I didn't even know that. Figured once it was gone that was it. Not being able to spread it anymore is fine. That's actually quite good to know.

Hello Pokefriends(?):

Usually I'd search for info related to the game before making my choice, but I don't wanna spoil anything for me. So I hope you guys can answer me a few questions.

- What's the difference between Pokemon X and Y??
- Is there any chance to start with a Chikorita (lvl 5)? I don't care if I have to trade my starter at the beginning of the game, I just want to start with a Chikorita.
- If the former can't be done, Is there any chance to catch Chikorita?
- Chikorita has a "Mega" form? (or whatever is called)

Thanks in advance.

I'm pleased some people make mistakes in their battle spot teams. I mean why else would you use an Absolite on Mawile or a Lucky Egg on Karn.

So I beat the 2nd gym last night. It was a bit of a challenge, but only because my team was so overleveled they were all disobeying me. How far do I have to go to unlock mega evolution?

It's part of the storyline. So as long as you're moving along with that, you'll get there.

You have a mega
Kanto starter you got from the professor
, and will get the megastones for
Lucario, Aerodactyl, Ampharos and some others I don't remember right now (Genegar, I think?)
.

Sweet. Also, do I get Mega Stones for the other Kanto starters, or just the one I picked?

Only the one you picked. You can buy the others in the stone imperium in Lumiose City, but they are expensive, unless you have swag style.
