Pokemon Gold / Silver for DS announced

Man that looks really good. Why didn't they put this much effort into Platinum or D/P?

How does that pedometer work? Transfer a Pokemon over to it and then train/raise it while walking and trade it back to the game?

I was just about to post this. Seeing pokemon cutting trees and smashing rocks is awesome.
Pokemon needs less superfluous animation, not more.

Stupid HMs making me stop to watch stupid mini-cutscenes every single stupid screen.

I don't think the animation is longer. heck, there's already a lack of that "POKEMON FLASHING TO THE SCREEN" part.

Loved Gold and Silver soooo much, tempted to import now!
The ability of pokemon following you looks really cool and it will be interesting to see if they do anything else with it other than just seeing how they are feeling and using HMs. But then again this is Gamefreak we are talking about...

I'm going to pre-order from play-asia since they're up now, but I'm disappointed that they're charging $59.90 instead of $48.90 like they did with Platinum, considering the prices of HeartGold & SoulSilver are still 4880 yen.

SS > HG

I'm worried about not pre-ordering, but I don't know to where I would ship the game once it arrived. Thus, I'm banking on at least one of the surrounding stores--wherever I may be at the time--will have at least one copy of Heart Gold still available for those who didn't pre-order in-person. =/

EDIT: OMG I know, the foliage looks AMAZING!

This video and the autumnal foliage in that screen makes me wonder why we haven't seen a Pokemon game with seasons timed to the real world yet...

I think it'd be really cool, on one hand, but on the other, I see them taking it farther than I'd want it to go, I think... like, Pokemon that are only available during certain times of the year, evolve with the seasons, etc.

...Actually, maybe I'd kind of like that. Instead of one giant Pokegasm around the time of release, it'd keep me playing it in little spurts throughout the year.

And that metaphor ended up being more apt than originally planned! Stopping it now.

I don't see the point of having DSi exclusive features unless it involves the camera.

And no, don't give me the RAM thing. The reason why the system has bigger RAM is for its new connection infrastructure. <_<

The extra RAM and CPU speed is mostly there for image processing for the cameras. But one benefit of DSi enhancment that generalizes to many games is WPA support.

D/P was their first experience with DS hardware, and it obviously shows. Platinum cleaned things up quite a bit. However, with these games it really does seem like they're going all-out. The two killer features for me, beyond the fact it's a remake of my favorite Poke games, is the highly integrated touchscreen control, and of course the trailing Pokemon. :D

That doesn't mean they can't use it for other stuff.

To what extent is the touch-screen "highly integrated?" Can you move with the touch-screen?

As far as I know, all or most of the menus now use the touchscreen (including inventory and Pokebox.) ^_^

Kotaku had this for anyone interested.

Can you get the three of them or is it only one at a time?

I will buy both versions so that my fiancée and I can play together anyway, but I really want that Lugia.

If you preorder HG, you get Ho-oh figurine. If you preorder SS, you get Lugia figurine. If you preorder both, you also get Arceus.

EB Games has actually been on the up and up when it comes to these preorder deals, although I think Toys r Us did the one for Platinum...

In any case I hope think there's a good chance of these making it to America...

Fuck I think I want to pre-order Heart Gold. Fuck fuck fuck, I don't think I can put myself into super blackout mode like I did for Diamond/Pearl again.

I really like some of the Kanto remixes, why didn't people like them?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g76W944CXzo Lavender is awesome
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Hw597sv7ZM Saffron City <3
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xLD4J-qYf8k And the Viridian Forest remix <333

I always thought the awesome Viridian Forest and Lavender Town re-arrangements made the original Red/Blue versions sound like shit.

Really, I know nostalgia is a big factor for everyone... but the Generation I games didn't have spectacular soundtracks. Gold/Silver and Diamond/Pearl? Yes.

Will Play-Asia give these out?

Sometimes you get it, sometimes you don't.

It depends on when you pre-order, how many other people are also buying the game, and how many of the bonus they have in stock.

Alright, well, I want to pre-order now, but I'll be moving in a month. Will I be able to change the shipping address on the order, or should I hold off?
