Pokemon Gold / Silver for DS announced

In the final scan, Notched-Ear Pichu's attacks are confirmed to be Pain Split, Volt Tackle, Helping Hand, and Swagger. It is also stated that it cannot evolve and it cannot be traded out of the two games.

Yeah as far as I know that was the case too.

Not having it evolve is probably because, well, it doesn't evolve in Pokemon the Movie 12.

They can't. I think the point is that notched ear pichu not being able to evolve is a sign that the rumor that pokemon will have multiple sprites with different appearances was incorrect.

Oooh, which to get. I played Silver originally. But Heart Gold is not as cool a name. But playing Pokemon is a dirty secret of mine that I only let Japanese people know... Hmmm. I wish they would make a new Pokemon TCG for DS.

He used NEP as a example of this new feature and he seemed to think that the thing could evolve into Pika . . . in fact, I think he even used "different Pika's" as a example of something that can be gotten from this "deep feature".

Wouldn't the presence of a "special" Pichu with a notched ear imply at least two different sets of Pichu sprites?

Or am I nuts? Was Pichu not in Gold/Silver originally?

WWRU implied that NEPichu was an example of a new feature in which all pokemon would have more than 1 physical appearance, which would deepen the breeding system. NEPichu not being able to evolve suggests that it is a special, one-of-a-kind pokemon rather than part of an overhaul of the breeding system.

That's amazing. I've mentioned it before, but the day Pokemon Diamond and Pearl came out, Best Buy Canada had Action Replay for DS on sale for $9.99.

I'm pretty sure the entire Pokemon community would erupt into mass hysteria if Kanto wasn't in the game. Our screams would probably be heard around the globe, if not from outer space. Then Gamefreak would be forced to put it in the game, because our shrilling screams would be unbearable.

That's how I figure it would go down.

Yeah, it sounds like the logical thing to do. Johto was pretty small and they would need to add a bunch of new locales too compare with Diamond/Pearl/Platinum's length if Kanto wasn't in the game.

As has been said before, seems like it's a forgone conclusion Kanto will be there in some form. What I'll be interested to see though is which version of Kanto we get. Whether or not it'll be a full Kanto remake or more of a remake of the Gold/Silver version of Kanto (or a mix of the two) is another issue I guess.
 
The idea of a Kanto with the level of changes and additions they've made to Johto is pretty appealing.

I wonder how big Johto is now with the Cianwood and Goldenrod additions as well as added tiles in general.

Even with Johto being expanded a bit, it would be a bit much to be calling it a remake and not including half of the original game. At that point you might as well have it be a new game in an old setting.

Also a random question, but do we have much of a competitive scene here? I'm big into online battling.
 
Oh, I was just saying that it'd be cool if Kanto had new stuff including the stuff it was missing in the original GS.

It is kinda ironic how it seems bigger and has added stuff, though, when everyone was using those points to justify Johto's inability to stand on its own as a region.

I'm pretty sure there're tournaments in the Online section that pop up around when the games release.

Wait I don't remember this very well. The Safari Zone in GS (Crystal?) was closed the whole time? That's one way to piss people off:lol.

The Safari Zone was closed in G/S/C because "the warden was on a trip" It was little bit disappointing especially when I was waiting to go into it as soon as I got to Fuchsia.

Man, the Safari Zone was never anything but terrible in the first place. Takes an hour to find a damn Chansey just to watch it scurry away after the first turn.

GAF once again demonstrates that it has nostalgia for all the wrong things.

I agree, the Safari Zone is a pain to get through in R/B/Y, just for those necessary HM's you needed to get.. Thankfully, this isn't so in all the later gens.
 
So glad to see that they are finally doing the subtle things necessary to freshen up the franchise. Pokemon is one of my all time favorite series, and these look to be by far the best installments yet. I am so excited :D

Sort of off topic maybe, but what was WWRU banned for, and was it a perma? I always liked the dude, especially when he had legit information about these games before they were announced (though I agree I would be interested in an explanation for his claim of different sprites through breeding)
 
i cant wait for this! it seems like so long sinse pokmon has seemed new again but even though its old. i got that ultimate cheats for chrismas once but i knew it wasnt real pokemon haha. whos your favorite gold/sliver pokemon i like umbreon?

Besides being the best champion ever, I think she helps with some of the more legendary-based sidequests, such as the ones with arceus and dialga/palkia/giratina.
