Pokemon Gold / Silver for DS announced

I wonder if anybody has tried to grab Japanese local Mystery Gift pokemon with an American game? It seems like it could work now that Pokemon are regionless. It would be cool if I could get a Jirachi here.

Also, new Pokemon games are sounding sweet. This stuff is exactly what I want to here. Hopefully the item management also gets the streamline treatment.

Latest info sounds fucking sweet, so they're finally using the touchscreen to its full potential-any release date yet? EDIT: apparantly theres a screen of Kecleon following you, hes a 3rd generation pokemon aye? maybe they're not restricting the main game to the originals anymore, would be sweet if we could get all available Pokemon from the get go.

Or maybe it's screen after E4...you know National DEX.

he has a goddamn purse

Phil: You’re not really wearing that are you?
Alan: Wearing what?
Phil: The man purse…you’re actually going to wear that? Are you guys just fuckin with me?
Alan: This is where I keep all my things. I get a lot of compliments in this, plus it’s not a man purse. It’s called a satchel, Indiana Jones wears one.

Menu/UI overhaul looks incredible.

Pretty cool to see the Steelix following Gold around. The sprite is actually pretty big. How big will Wailord be?!

Catch an Onyx, make it hold some item whose name I've already forgot, trade it with someone else and it will evolve.
Thats so annoying, why should I have to trade him away to evolve him. What a stupid idea, what if I have nobody to trade my Onyx with.

Because the game is designed to make people interact with one another? That's sort of the point.

More scans have cropped up confirming something FUCKING AWESOME

All Pokéman can follow you

FUCK YEAH!

Pokédex and the PC box is controlled via touch screen. Major overhauling to the Pokédex it seems.

Some copypasta

I want my Eevolutions to follow me. Oh and Rayqueza too.

Now to show you riding on your Pokémon for the ultimate win.

Get rid of those annoying unidentifiable "blob" sprites used for flying and surfing. That would be nice. I hope all shinies show up as such too when following.

Just so everyone knows, if you bring Jirachi into these new games a new area opens up called "The Edge of the Night Sky".

The amount and reliance on legendaries to do anything in the game, almost makes me feel like Nintendo is forcing people to have save files that have every single pokemon on them and just start trading them back and forth between each game just to get items and secret areas. This is starting to get rediculous

If I could make one change to the battle system for this game, it'd be that the Pokemon in the first slot didn't have to be the first one out. Because that way, there WILL be times when you face a random opponent that you don't want to fight with that Pokemon.

You have the option of switching when an opponent is sending out a new Pokemon, so how about having the option at the start of battle too? I always found it a bit strange that you're sort of forced into using who is in your number one slot. Yeah, you can change that at any time, but you don't always know what you're facing next.

Just let the wild Pokemon or trainer attack, then let us choose who we want to use. Or maybe have a "coin flip" at the start of each trainer battle to see who sends the Pokemon out first (meaning if you win, you can force them to choose first to gain an advantage).

That would be a nice feature if it turns out the Pokemon you have following you must be your lead.

Although both you and the "opponent" should choose simultaneously, to preserve some illusion of fairness.

ANY Pokémon can follow you around?

:O

OMG that is SO exciting! I can't wait to walk around with Espeon. :D Hopefully this is a September release so I can get it as soon as I get to Japan.

So I haven't been keeping up on this.

Original game spoilers below, it's been a while but just in case.

But finishing Silver and opening up the original games location was probably the most epic thing I've ever experienced in a game. Any word on if these will include those original locations?

This isn't really a problem in the actual Pokemon games...considering the main game is so easy.

It would be suicidal not to.

This is already shaping up to be the best Pokemon game yet, since GSC were the prime, and DPPT are improvements to a degree, and more in depth, to combine the both would be amazing.
