Pokemon Gold / Silver for DS announced

So is it true they are working harder on the music for these remakes, and they aren't going "trumpet" crazy like in R/S/E (and to a lesser extent D/P/PL)? I do know that they totally changed the feel and mood for much of the remade songs in FireRed/LeafGreen, so maybe they're making up for their shortcomings with this seemingly perfect remake of G/S/C.
And I guess it's unknown if they are going to be releasing the game with the special accessory in the US...

Does anyone know if HG/SS will also have the Crystal extra stuff in it, such as the Battle Tower, etc?

I don't know, I just may import this, if only just to have - Gold was always my favorite Pokemon, next to Red.
You'd have to imagine that this game is getting a Battle Frontier or something comparable. Otherwise it'd be a pretty big step back from Platinum.

Kanto confirmed:

That's pretty interesting, though it wouldn't be a remake without it!
I kind of hope they don't spoil the Kanto map, because I want to be suprised when I see what new additions they added for the first time.

However, since that's an impossibility, I look forward to seeing what changes they've made!

Awesome news.

The new gyms look fantastic, and the mini games don't look bad... I doubt I'll play them much, but I'll probably give them a go, at least. Brings back memories of the ones on Stadium.

Can't wait for this now. First Pokemon game I've preordered in... well, ever.

Well, that's not unexpected, but at least it's confirmed. Yay!

Though, I'm really liking how they're practically going all out for these remakes. I'm glad about that mostly because I never got to finish Gold since I lost the cart when I got to the Ice Path. And I never did get Crystal. Only Generation that I practically missed out on(when I hopelessly followed it up to it's release!). :(

Glad to hear Kanto is in. I never really thought they'd axe such a large portion of the games, but now I can finally put any doubt to rest. Looking forward to seeing the new post-game content, assuming there is any.

Whats up with all those Pikachu?

Thought they were bringing back the Pika-pet when I saw that. o_0

(Make it happen Nintendo!)
It's the first WiFi Event in HG/SS, which unlocks the Yellow Course on your PokeWalker, which is an area of all Pikachu, some with a "special move".

^^
Ohhhh, thats odd.

A whole area full of Pikas . . . 0_o

Oh, and this has nothing to do with GS but I can't wait for the Darkrai wi-fi gift event!

Yay! Next step: Sevii Islands. :lol

Add those and the Orange Islands(who didn't want them in the original Gold/Silver? :lol ), and I'll be able to die happy.

If that comes to America, then that might be the first time I have a Pikachu with Volt Tackle in my party. Yay!

Considering this confirms that Kanto is now playable in every generation, am I the only person who's sick of it?

At least this time they'll actually have room to make it a decent continent and not the compressed hour-long sidequest it was in 2nd gen...

I whined about it a few pages back and expressed puzzlement at the fanbase's general desire for more recycled content.

Fortunately, since I skipped GSC the first time around, I have at least some reason to try the remake.

Please no poffins, Pokeblocks, ribbons, fashion contests, etc this time
I'm fine with the existence of these things as long as I'm never made to do them. In DPPt, the only reason to even mess with these was for pointless trainer card upgrades.

Well, and Milotic, but that wasn't too bad in Platinum because I'm pretty sure you could just buy the poffins for it instead of having to make them.

1st: Kanto was the entire game
2nd: Kanto was the 2nd quest.
3rd: Fire Red / Leaf Green
4th: Heart Gold / Soul Silver

It might just be me, but I find them as sometimes useful ways to just take a break from the game when I want to play it, but not actually do any battling or such. Though, I never want them to be required.

Finally confirmed! Getting this in japanese. I don't know shit about the language but if I could enjoy Gold/Silver in one of those "20 in 1" carts 10 years ago with the only help of a small FAQ I found on the internet months before the game got released in english, I don't see why I couldn't do it now, specially with all the help you can get now online compared with 10 years ago.

I don't particularly dislike the inclusion of Kanto nor its presence in every generation. I skipped LG/FR. For GSC or HGSS, the ability to compete in two leagues (16 gyms) is always a good enough reason for me.

Kanto? Goooooooooood.

I hope they do take the opportunity to "fix" some stuff though. Like say...how
the Pokemon Tower in that one town, which was a cemetery in the Original, turned into a RADIO tower in the GS-Kanto. WTF?! :lol

this is what i'm most excited for. i always feel that after i beat the elite four way and there isn't enough interesting events afterward. anything that lengthens the game is good news for me.

I sure hope there is an easier way to transfer your pokemon in this game. Only moving 6 at a time was tedious. They should make it as easy as it was in Pokemon Box

I hated having it limited to 6 per day. I would understand that if it would've opened the Pal Park when you got the Global Trade Station/Terminal opened, but when you had to beat the Elite Four, it'd make sense to let someone trade over as many as they want. If it was restricted to just one game a day, or half of a game a day would've been fine.

Though, I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't allow Generation III trading in HeartGold/SoulSilver and beyond due to most people already doing it when they got D/P/Pt. :/

Kanto too? O_o How the fuck is Game Freak packing so much content in that tiny cartridge? Seriously. This makes me want a full 3D Wii Adventure game where you visit Kanto, Jhoto, Hoenn, Shinnoh, AND Orre. Now THAT'd be fuck awesome.

Too bad Nintendo will never do it.

It's too good of an idea.

From serebii.net:

* First, it confirms that the Apricorns come back. However, this time, you have the ability to grow them yourself portabley, using the SquirtBottle to grow them and they're stored in an item called the Apricorn Case. This means the following balls have returned, for reference here are their use:
o Fast Ball: Captures Pokémon that Flee
o Friend Ball: Increases Happiness of Captured Pokémon
o Heavy Ball: Captures Heavier Pokémon more successfully
o Level Ball: Captures Pokémon of lower levels easier
o Love Ball: Captures opposite gendered Pokémon easier
o Lure Ball: Captures Pokémon caught with the Fishing Rod easier
o Moon Ball: Captures Pokémon that evolve with the Moon Stone easier
* Next, it reiterates Kanto's return in Heart Gold & Soul Silver and also shows there is a new Battle Frontier style facility to the west of Olivine City. Further details about this Battle Frontier have not been revealed
* It also confirms the National Park's Bug Catching Contest making a return. This contest features you having to capture the best Bug Pokémon you can.
* It also shows that Rayquaza is catchable later in the game at Level 50. Further details were not revealed but as revealed in June, it will require Kyogre & Groudon for it to appear
* It also shows that you have the Mystery Egg subquest from Gold & Silver. It is unknown if the Egg you receive will still be Togepi
* Finally, it confirms that the new area west of Cianwood City is a Safari Zone.

How did the 3 Legends from Hoenn get in this game? They must be found in Kanto now? No way do they allow travel to Kanto AND Hoenn in this game.

Depending on your version of the game, you either get Kyogre or Groudon. If you have both, you will be able to get Rayquaza.

You do realize that DS cartridges are bigger than GBC cartridges right? I don't get why everyone's mind is blown over Kanto being in the game. Of course it would be in the game as it was a major part of the original. Is everyone going to pee their pants in excitement when they learn that the Elite 4 makes a return as well?

Birth Island Is located in Kanto (fire red , Leaf Green)

You can access Birth Island in Hoenn (Pokémon Emerald)

You went to the same place(?) in Emerald :0

Why can't we vist some part of Hoenn ?

http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Birth_Island

you can access Navel Rock(another Sevii Islands 's island) in Hoenn too.

Update:
Man........ This make me hope Nintendo will give us > 1 region in the 5th gen.
Add in Orre?
Orre need more love.

Too soon, maybe? Who knows.

I sort of understand the remaking of Johto since pre-third generation is completely separate from third and fourth, so maybe they consider Hoenn still very much "attached" to these later games because of Pal Park.
