Pokemon sequel is under development for DS

The more I see this game, the more I can swear that parts are blatantly made 3D, maybe back door 3DS compatibility? (would gamefreak ever resort to a patch?)

Doesn't the PokeWalker use IR? Possibly has something to do with that. Or maybe a new PokeWalker-ish device that comes with this game?
 
it looks like the character transformation thing may have something to do with transfering your file to the internet. in other words.....MMO-lite?

It'd be pretty nice to still use the PokeWalker actually, I hope it supports it, lol. I cant think of anything else IR could be used for.
 
There is also a brand new option in the battle menu in what appeared to be a trainer battle. Along with Fight, Run & Pokémon and Shooter. It is unknown what Shooter is for or what use it has.

That would be awesome, since most people probably do online battles near a computer anyway.
 
Those new Pokemon are some ugly mother fuckers. Jeez. Can't say I like a single one.

As for 3 on 3 battles, don't really have an opinion on it. We'll see how it works out, but I have a feeling that they are going to result in some long ass trainer battles.

3 on 3 battles? Imagine how fast those would be. Hopefully they wouldn't just be a Protect fest.

Any idea on these WiFi settings and stuff with the internet and the trainer transforming?

as I said, prolly has to do with uploading your file to the internet.

You can pick on DPPt/HGSS, but only from a list of 4 types that are determined by your trainer ID.

I doubt it.
Remember "bag" was shown in the battle menu before with a weather indicator.
This battle screen has neither because it is a wireless battle(notice the "Wireless" is bolded while in the other it was grayed?).
"Bag" has never been usable in a wireless battle, however you could always record(or shoot) the battle with the VS recorder.

They just cut out all the unnecessary menus and made the option more accessible.
 
Yeah, not too hyped for 3 on 3. Lets hope they bring some REAL innovations to the game. I'm tired of the sameshit with minimal upgrades. I'm burned out. I want a NEW experience and not the same shit with some tweaks and template changes.

Im intrigued to the extent that the online will be and how robust.

They seemingly made plenty of changes already. Especially to the presentation of the game, so I don't see why it won't be a new experience.

Unless you are talking about the battle system itself. If so, well, tough luck. At least they cleaned up the interface and made things smoother.
 
The only big gameplay change I would like to see is allowing pokemon to remember all moves, but still be restricted to four per batlle. Removes need for HM slaves and training cloones with different movesets.

- Walking in 8-directions would be revolutionary.
- Doubles (and triples) are inconsequential.

Remove HM's and use technology to accomplish the goals. Provide the option of having pokemon by allowing them to use the HM's that are now just TM's on the field. I think this would be the better route

Well I'd like an ACTUAL story for one. It was cute the first few times around. The 3rd, and 4th...No so much.
Maybe some tweaks to the mechanics. Make breeding and raising an easier and/or a more transparent affair.
How about a change to the game progression a bit? I'm tired of running into the same damn Normal rodent type pokemans, and normal/flying and bug types outisde the first time.


I dunno. I'm just burned out on the pokemon formula. I couldn't even finish HG/SS.

You're probably getting your wish for these two.
The characters' older age/Cutscenes/character portraits imply that there will be a more involving story than before.
And there is already a change to the game's progression with the starters being a gift.

Basically the reason I don't read these threads. I'm already trying to think of what terrible strategies I can do with Double Team in triples :3

Definitely one of those things you expect in a genuine JRPG.

I'm loving the sarcophagus and green Slimer looking pokemon. Baby mole thing looks cute but what appears to be the evolution is hideous.

Sarcophagus pokemon will be mine long as it doesnt take insane steps to get him. Triple battles are cool i know a lot of people are negative about them but it could bring some new interesting strageties.
