Well, they have all these to choose from

2008-093265 [Pokemon Red]
2008-093266 [Pokemon Green]
2008-093267 [Pokemon Blue]
2008-093268 [Pokemon Yellow]
2008-093269 [Pokemon Black]
2008-093270 [Pokemon Brown]
2008-093271 [Pokemon White]
2008-093272 [Pokemon Gray]
2008-093273 [Pokemon Scarlet]
2008-093274 [Pokemon Purple]
2008-093275 [Pokemon Crimson]

Seriously though, I hope it's called Pokemon Black. That just sounds like sex. You already know, by name alone, you're in for a big game.

Black and White would be the best, with Gray as the 3rd game.

Why's that? It's really not that hard, especially now with the online trading/GTS. I've done it each gen so far, with the help of a friend or two each time, and with the help of the internet gen 4.
A lot of it was the 6-a-day transfer bullshit from the GBA games, but it was also things like having to catch monsters that happen to have rare items attached to them, then breed to get an infant etc. It was taking so long that I eventually just lost interest.

Not to mention event-specific monsters. Grrr! That kind of thing makes me RAGE >:-(

Thats the feeling I got with the " press releases say an entire new adventure that will be 'reborn and innovative'. It's an entirely new game./ then says something about changes to gameplay" thing Vook &Brazil said.

"Reborn and innovative" . . . sounds different.

They keep re-iterating the newness in different ways. I don't think they'd really beat people over the head with it if they were just adding another layer on top of everything else. At least that's my thoughts.

I don't mind those, as long as there are only one of them per generation. Having Mew or Celebi as event prizes was awesome back then. But, fuck, D/P has Darkrai, Shaymin and Arceus like that.

And about the reboot idea... Who knows? Maybe our minds will be blown soon.

And SS/HG was 09 in japan...so whats your point?

I was responding to another poster who said that D/P came out in 2007. I'm basically saying that by the time the game comes out four years will seperate it and D/P

I have 2 legit versions of each. It's really not that bad especially since aside from Arceus they were given away at TRU and Wi-Fi (I got Arceus twice because by that point I had both Platinum and Pearl).

This generation has been the easiest to obtain promotional ones. I should complete the whole Pokedex including promos without buying an opposing version or knowing any RL friends with the game. It's not difficult, you just have to stick with it.

Yeah. Part of the reason why I don't want new Pokemon is because of Arceus.
To me, it's like "can they top this one?"

Coming out this year? No way it's a the successor to D/P. The time between the D/P announcement and its release was about two years. Are they really just going to throw this game out so quickly?

You know what I would actually buy? Some sort of peripheral that allows me to store Pokemon and trade them between DS games with only one DS. I CAUGHT HUNDREDS OF POKEMON IN DIAMOND I DON'T WANT TO START FROM SCRATCH WITH SOULSILVER.

Already?!

I do, but I'm not going to bother with event Pokemon the next time though. Hopefully there will be alternate ways to obtain them instead of driving to Toys-R-Us (20 min drive for a Pokemon lol).

I know. I stop trying to get 100% if I find I'm no longer having fun. At that point, each play session was like:

1) Boot up Pearl
2) Transfer some monsters over from Emerald
3) Transfer some monsters over from Leaf Green
4) Catch them in Pal Park
5) Check on my berries, pick, plant, water
6) Start hatching some eggs for good IVs / move chains
7) Ride my bike up and down

I did that for a month solid. It got old.

EDIT: As for my hatred of promotional monsters, consider this: I am a grown man with a full time job among other responsibilities living in Australia. Not only is the thought of attending the *very* rare events NAL hold here just a little off-putting, it's also massively inconvenient both in terms of time and travel.

Online events = yay! Real life events = Great, no monsters for me.

Not if you did it properly (read above).

I just transferred the hard to get ones. Most of the rest it takes less time to capture new. I did find having Platinum helped cure the monotony since I had to do the game over I could use that time for training the stuff I never got a chance to. I agree that once you get into egg hatching you're done as far as fun goes.

edit: Does Lyre have three hands?

Yeah its a pretty big gap between actual new versions.

1st Gen was on the Gameboy.
2nd Gen was Gameboy Color.
3rd Gen was GBA.
4th Gen was DS.
5th Gen: DSi?

Not quite. Some of the correct stuff has been listed, but here's an accurate list.

GB: Game Boy (B&W)
SGB: Super Game Boy (B&W, with enhancements for a SNES with SGB)
GBC: Game Boy Color. If both GB and GBC are listed, the game is dual-mode, and thus WILL work on B&W as well as Color. If only GBC is listed, the game requires a GBC.
GBA/DS: obvious. DSi would be marked for titles with enhancements that use or require it.

Pokemon Red/Blue/Green: GB, SGB
Pokemon Yellow: GB, SGB, GBC
Pokemon Gold/Silver: GB, SGB, GBC
Pokemon Crystal: GBC
Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire: GBA
Pokemon Emerald: GBA
Pokemon FireRed/LeafGreen: GBA
Pokemon Diamond/Pearl: DS
Pokemon Platinum: DS
Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver: DS
New one -- DS, or DSi?

But anyway, yes, Red/Blue/Green, Yellow, and Gold/Silver are actually SGB enhanced, and it's worth trying it sometime. Nice borders, colorization, etc. And yeah, Yellow is secretly a dual-mode GBC title, I'm pretty sure. How else could it be "partially colorized"? By having GBC support in it.

Pokemon Ranch WiiWare? (I think it work too? but I could be wrong)

For other people,

There will be new anime based Ash returning to Johto. (that's what I heard from my friend, but I don't know if they are kidding or not.)

I am looking for 5th Generation and see if they will add better pokemons or for worse, sucky pokemons.

Holy shit, a new game this year?

So we're getting a new Zelda, Mario, Metroid, Kirby (lol) and gen 5 Pokemon.

DUN DUN DUN.

I am also pretty sure that this will be DSi exclusive. Will be interesting to see what they do with the extra juice and features.

Not likely. DSi-Enhanced is very possible though.

Cannot wait. Probably alone on this but I hope its 3d and they actually decide to finally switch up how they present the battles.

I don't trust shit when they don't show the product.
For all I we know they will STFU about this and not show anything not related to the movie only to follow up with a "ITS FOR DS2!" reveal at E3.

I wouldn't put it past them . . . not gonna buy a new DS (My top screen is fucked . . .) until I know whats what and if theres some DSi advantage or if the rumored DS2 is real. So . . . by E3?

Holy lol didn't these dudes JUST release 3 new games? Milking the fuck out of that franchise and the fans huh.

I really doubt this will be anything substantially different than the current line of games given in how little time this one is coming out after Soul Silver/Heart Gold.
Platinum came out almost two years ago in japan and hg/ss are more than just mere ports, so I'd hardly call that "milking the fuck" out of the fans and the franchise.

Also, where did it get confirmed in the first place that this was gen 5 for sure? On top of that, gamefreak is a very small development company, meaning small dev teams and longer dev times to make these games. It took about two years to develop platinum after d/p came out. So, before just spewing bullshit, think before you post.

Gamestop is starting to get them from the looks of it, which is far better IMO. I'll have to get my Pichu in a few days.

What can the DSi do (graphically) that the DS can't?
If I remember correctly (and I probably don't), not a whole lot. It does, however have a faster processor and more RAM, so I suppose you could display the same graphics at a butter-smooth framerate (which they should have done in ST, damn it!).
