Pokemon sequel is under development for DS

Poison!!

Seriously poison should be overpowered, not underpowered. It's fucking POISON! I love me some poison types (Gengar can go fuck itself though).

Yeah, a lot of types need a lot of help... That's what I want for Gen 5. Don't remove types, don't change Pokemon types... Just re-balance them.

WHAT? Gengar is awesome.

I'm gonna have a go at some type changes (quick link here for reference).

Offenses: (Super Effective)
Poison:
Fighting, Psychic
Also PSN status should do more/less damage depending on type relations. Similarly, Badly Poisoned status should get to 100% after 10 turns for not very effective and 6 turns for normal effective (I'm actually not sure of the details but you get the idea).
Electric:
Steel
Bug:
Poison (totally switched it around)
Rock:
Electric

Defenses: (Not Very Effective)
Poison:
Immunity: Poison (I mean come on)
Normal effective: Psychic (I never got why Psychic was good on Poison)
Bug:
Poison, Psychic
Steel:
Normal effective: Ghost
Rock:
Electric
Fighting:
Fighting (this one should be obvious)

Fuck I'm done. I could find more but this is annoying.
Edit: Added the fighting thing.

Steel should stay immune to Electric attacks. Unless, maybe if it's raining.
Steel is normal weak against Electric. But think how, if there's a living being made of steel, an electric attack will pass through his whole body and attack him on the inside. It makes sense that steel will be weak to Electric.

Not to mention, steel desperately needs to be weak to another type while electric needs to be strong against another type.

If it was covered in steel, an electrical attack would pass right through to be grounded. It wouldn't "attack" the insides, but graze off the outside.

I do agree with the Steel weakness/Electric strength, though.

Explain to me why anything would be weak to bug.

edit- He's right that steel should be weak to electric attacks btw. These aren't inanimate steel objects. These are living creatures covered in steal. Imagine being in a suit of armor (nude) and grabbing a live wire.

Dude, bugs are pretty freaking scary.

Ask the OT side.

Why is psychic weak to bug though? Are they too simple to be effected by psychic attacks?
Yeah that's what I thought, their brains are too tiny to be affected. It's similar to how Psychic is defensive against Psychic: they're too smart for it to affect them.

Also balance.

I just think steel is a bit over powered and poison needs a boost. Also do something about stealth rock, because I miss true fire types.

edit: @grav, I wasn't saying it should make sense, I was trying to see if it DID make sense and maybe I just didn't get it this whole time.

Balance is most important, but making it logical is worth so many cool points.

60% accuracy! Goes away after 4 turns!

I have a feeling Masuda is very good at using Stealth Rock effectively.

Yeah I replied too soon and didn't think it through anyways, the whole simple thing for psychic/bug works perfectly. I really want some form of new balance, but I'm not gonna get my hopes up. I know Gen 5 isn't going to have it.

Or maybe Poke Fusion!

Fuck no. The one thing that I always liked about Pokémon in comparison to all the rip-offs was that they actually took the fauna seriously as in "these animals could really exist if our world were a little bit more whimsical". Digimon and its ilk kind of missed the point about that, and it really shows with how they handle fusion monsters.

Err fusion wasn't much existent in Digimon, and even then the fusion in Digimon wasn't a literal fusion.

Also Digimon > Pokemon

Season 1, 3, and 4? Yeah. Season 2 was pretty crappy. Never watched 5.

Omnimon was the coolest of the cool though.

If we're really gonna go all out, different sprites for weather situations!

Another great idea, but with gen 5 who knows how many total pokemon there will be. With the TON of content in each game and the 600 or so pokemon by gen 5 some with female/male variations a whole new set of weather altered sprites might be more work than its worth to game freaks.

I'm so down though..

Yeah, I hated 2's second half. And it had fusions. And 4 was horrible because it was human + mon fusion. XD

Anyway let's not derail and admire ArtiMolZapLugRio-Oh

I'd appreciate it if people didn't post pictures of brains with bugs in them in a Pokemon thread >_>

I think I've proven the Gaming Side is a lot less of a "pussy" than the Off-Topic side.

I just realized that with this new talk of Pokemon Gen V, Digimon 6 was just announced with pics. XD

This just reminded me that I missed out on buying Digimon DS cheap at K-Mart years ago. Fuck.

Steel is supposed to be the ultimate defensive type, though. If you want to balance it, take away some of the few offensive super-effective matchups it has.

You know what I want in Gen V?

BABY LEGENDARIES!

No not that crap Phione.

I mean, something like a baby Lugia like Silver! He's so cute and huggable :3

And maybe a baby Kyogre too! Don't you want a small flying whale with large baby teeth? :3

They need to change the starting pokemon now, I'd like to see a Fighting-Dark-Psychic trio this time.

Wasn't that the rumor for DPPt? I'd rather have it like DPPt myself, give us Fire/____ Water/____ and Grass/_____

We've already been over several times that this match up doesn't work because Dark is immune to Psychic, giving it an unfair advantage over the other two.

Found the second part of this set (still don't know who made 'em). First part: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=20523596&postcount=7638

Don't like the rock one, but man these are good.
Meh, I feel like they are a little too generic. If you compare the original three, they are all totally different. These just look like sleek cats with a different element attached for each one.

EDIT: The ones in the link though look a bit more distinct and well thought out.

Something like that. Or have it be like Togepi, only one in a game, but not able to breed.

Well technically you could breed Togetic, but I see your point.

Make it like Legendaries still being unable to breed, but they could grow.

Physics could be cool, instead of battles existing in their own little world. If I use fire blast on one weedle I should burn the whole colony down...weird how everything else in the patch of grass survives.

Then again Roar of Time would probably wipe out a whole city....

OF COURSE NONE OF THIS WOULD BE A PROBLEM IF IT WAS A HUGE OPEN WORLD RPG FOR ONCE.

Nah, I'd miss handheld Pokémon :(

I really don't understand why people want Pokemon in a bigger machine... sorta misses the point of pocket monsters.
