Pokemon sequel is under development for DS

I'll never understand why people kill their accounts...

That being said, the game looks great in motion. The idle animations really add more to the battle than you'd think. I wonder how trade overs from D/P/Hg/Ss will work?

Minor points on rewatching the video:

It seems Mijumaru has a move called "Shell Blade" (シェルブレード). In the video, it was one of the moves that Munna read with Forewarn.

Also, in the video, they mention how the ability Pigeon Breast (on Munepato) prevents its defense from being lowered. In the battle, Mijumaru tried to use Tail Whip on it, but it didn't work.

Third, the music changes when your Pokemon has low health. Cool :)

Shell Blade and it's at level 50 . . . sounds like a fighting attack. Could my guess that the Otter will become Water/ Fighting be correct?!?!

The battles seem more lively than I initially expected even from seeing the previous videos. Really like the trainer animation, hope the front views for the trainers will be as interesting.

Nice, dynamic battle music is always cool.

Video was good. The walking parts looked like.. well, previous Pokemon games, not a bad thing. I just wish there were more urban areas, as im guessing its just gonna be that one city. Battles looked good, i like the zoom in and out camera. Idle animations are also starting to grow on me, but i still hate those fucking bland backgrounds :/

edit: ok that sounded a little more harsh than i wanted :P im still really pumped for the game, just throwing this out there for discussion.

I think the best thing about this game is the fact that most of the early Pokemon won't be present for (most of?) the game. It's going to feel like a brand new adventure!

Watching the vid and I find it interesting that you can now run up and down hill things now.
Also, the lil Fox is in the over world . . . I know its for a event but I find it strange that the lil fox would have it's own overworld sprite . . . could just be like the park thing again. I hope that points to Pokemon following you by choice.

The Pokemon keep moving during battles! \o/

And a minor gripe for me has always been that the english games over here had the Pokedex entries in feet and pounds and not in kilograms and meters. I know we just get the UK version and that's it, but please just change those values ;P

Yeah. It's always annoyed me, but fortunately some games had a visual representation of how heavy and big a Pokemon species is compared to the player :lol

I would say that the "shell" is more like a seashell--what Mijumaru has attached to his chest--so my guess would be a Water attack. But it's probably physical, leading me to believe that Mijumaru will at least be a physical-based attacker more like Feraligatr or Swampert. Water/Fighting is definitely possible.

Also, the Honeycomb Gym has random paintings in gold frames hanging on the walls, butterfly statues adorning some of the pillars, and a character in some sort of bee costume. Perhaps that's the gym leader...?

Why the hell would you want to import a text heavy game such as pokemon. You'd basically have to guess what they were saying. And how would you know which moves you're using? May want to use a different move to weaken a pokemon for capture but whoops you use flamethrower instead. Never understood that.

Gym leader confirmed.

This isn't like some kind of story driven RPG. As long as you know what the attacks are (and I wouldn't put it past gaffers here to be able to identify attacks by their power/accuracy/typing). You're not missing out on some crucial narrative or amazing characterization.

"Do you know how to make phone calls? Just open the pokegear and touch the name of the person you want to call. Wow I can't believe how easy it is to make phone calls!"

aufhlsjkhlakdsjf die mom

Side note: I wish they'd buff grass, it's really a terrible type.

I've played through several pokemon games. Also, since I experiment with the moves anyway, i tend to figure out which ones they are. Also since they are labeled with what type, and items in the bags have pictures, it's really not that hard.

Like I said, if it's DSi restricted I'm not gonna bother.

I disagree.
Flint: ...Volkner.
Volkner: What?
Flint: Let's say I'm in a battle, OK? What if I didn't use my Poké Balls? Instead, I can have my guys come in and out of my Afro to battle. That'd bewilder the other guy, huh? Wouldn't that be hilarious?
Volkner: ...Maybe. Don't ruin things for others, though.

I really wouldn't mind more random asides like that all over the place. The Gym Leaders have pretty colourful designs and personalities, so only using them for boss fights is a bit of a waste.

Just finished watching the Pokémon Sunday video. :D :D :D The idle animations are more fleshed out than I expected. It really brings the new pokes to life. Seeing old favourited animated will be cool too. Really looking forward to having an Idle Empoleon gif to use for my avatar.

Speaking of which, have GF outlined how people can transfer pokes from gen IV onto Black/White? I already have two DSes so I'm covered in the worst case scenario, but...

When they first announced trading compatibility I was expecting the worse as well, but the "Upload your save file" feature could change things up a bit... Probably getting ahead of myself though.

Nice catch, I look forward to not hearing the obnoxious beeping all the time. :lol

Am I the only one who wishes that the overworld sprites and layout in the main series looked more like the Pokemon Ranger series? Maybe I'm alone here.

I couldn't be less interested in the spin-off games, but every time I see a Pokemon Ranger video and it's awesome Chrono Trigger-esque sprites and movement I can't help but feel like the main series is lightyears behind

Really no point importing a pokemon game unless you can read Japanese, which I'm pretty sure some gaffers can.

I read Japanese, but I don't really pay much attention to the text at all when I play imported Pokemon games.

The Pokemon games don't exactly have complicated progression schema - you can usually tell who you need to talk to next to advance, and it usually only takes slightly longer to muddle through things compared to when you actually comprehend it.

New Pokeball throwing animation is awesome. HYPE!

They mentioned the Pokemon Transfer Machine in CoroCoro. It's the same old local wireless method, and it appears to be one at a time unfortunately.

When the 3DS comes out I might not trade in my DS lite just so I can trade with myself. Nintendo really need to make a proper Pokemon storage wiiware game, they'd make loads of money.

Some (new?) scans are out. So did the ruins rumor prove to be wrong because looking closer at the overworld it does seem there's even a lack of towns. Or maybe it's just me.

I'm guessing Area 11 is where this game will start. Can anyone translate/

They're not on serebii or PokeBeach. Are you sure they're new?

Glad I'm not the only one wondering where all the towns are.

Hmm. I was gonna post about the pictures, but I thought this news was fairly minor...

But some observations:

-That honey themed gym is not the first one, it seems (seing as it is all the way in the far upper left corner of the map, and the 'hometown' is at the lower right.
-It looks like there is a tornado in that Pokeball-shaped part of the map, in the center.
-There is some sort of airfield-looking place at the center left of the map, behind the mountains. Where could this lead...
-There is a town in the upper center of the map that is divided in half by color (left side purple/red, right side white/blue-ish). THere also seems to be a statue in the center that looks like two dragon'shaped heads.. If I were to guess, I think that the town has to do with Reshiram and Zekrom (that whole yin-yang thing).

I never really thought about it, but why have two snowy mountains on both sides of the map? Might be nothing.

Search for "RPG Land". That's where Serebii sources their image.

Remember, this map isn't to scale. The starting town is represented by only two buildings, while in the screenshot we can see at least three. The region won't be as barren as this map makes it look, and I'm certain this isn't the entirety of Isshu. Game Freak are probably just pulling another Sinnoh on us, where they initially only showed half the map.
