So I've been helping some people on /vp/ learn their Safari types and inhabitants, and in the process I ran into my first ever shiny in 19 years of Pokemon lovin'. Traded it to some guy cause it was his favorite. The coloration looked really good on his model. Magcargo just looks good all-around this gen.
Anyway, was in such a good mood cause I found a Safari that has an Aipom AND a Ditto in it (the former being my favorite Pokemon). Gonna Sweet Scent this crap up and search for some shiny Aipom hordes!
You...you traded your first ever shiny? Are you insane!? You must be quite a genuine person, cause I know when I encounter my first shiny it will be all mine.

Lol! Well, I'm really happy I finally got a shiny, and I'll always know what Pokemon it was. It had a bad nature, and I don't like the Pokemon myself much anyway. Would never use it competitively, which is what I'm after, and it would really just sit in my box and be transferred to future games if I kept it for sentimental reasons. He'll enjoy it more than I would.

Congrats! And it's a decent one too, the only 2 shinies I ever encountered were Unown in Gold and Pichu in Platinum. Pichu. That looks exactly like the event Pichu.

I'm seeing a lot of people beating it in, what, 4 or 5 days and I'm a bit concerned.
I've been playing White a lot for the last 2 weeks (around 35 hours now) and just obtained my 6th badge. Am I really slow or is everyone rushing to see the post-end content?

Is it weird/creepy if I/we add some people based on what I know? Would be quicker. For some I only know the ingame name though, I could let them complete with GAF username.

I've mostly been avoiding this thread since I don't have my copy yet and I am still like 95% spoiler free (I have no idea what the starters final evolutions look/type are yet, new features, etc.), but, according to my Amazon tracking it's going to be here later today (it's 4:30 a.m. here currently). Haven't been this excited for a game since uh..... Pokemon Black and White? So hard to contain my hype.
Kinda bummed though, I didn't realize we had a stupid holiday monday in the states or I would have just went to wal-mart or gamestop to get the game. It's been so hard to wait this long v_v

Pidgey was my first catch in this game! Nostalgia overload.
Also, for the first time I think, you can buy Pokeballs before you hit any random encounters in X and Y. This is a big deal for people who ran into a shiny Pokemon in previous games before they got any balls. Can you imagine that?

Had a great session yesterday : caught lots of Pokémon (including that blade Pokémon for my team), trained the Larvitar I traded yesterday (which is now around Level 17, and knows some good attacks). It was really nice.
By the way, I believe there's a male version of the Psy cat Pokémon (don't remember his name), near the Castle near Road 7, right? I only found the female variety...
what did you drop, aerial ace or night slash?
It's a name and people outside of Adolf actually have that name still I would imagine. Although funny, that name doesn't beat the hilarity of Anne Frank Battle Tank which I saw on RO2 once.
