well that was one of the worst debates I ever sat through the entirety of.

I hope the Presidential Debate isn't that disastrous.

Red Sox...

Really. Fuck this shit seriously.

This is real, when Martha Coakley made a Red Sox gaffe during the election for Kennedy's seat it became a big distraction for her. Brown brought out Schilling to campaign for him and everything. People hate the Sox right now though.

Who is hosting them?

Jim Lehrer is on the October 3 one, so I don't expect that one to be too bad. Jim Lehrer is a pretty fair guy and knows how to control a debate, generally speaking.

Candy Crowley is on the second debate, but it's a town hall style one... so it's going to be a bit looser, I'm not sure how much impact she will have in the end there. If she was doing a traditional debate, I'd expect it would be awful

It's the one hosted by Bob Schieffer, the third pres debate, that I'm concerned about. I don't have confidence in Bob at all.

I bet Candy Crowley will be Gregory-esque.

She's not nearly as aggressive, and naturally a presidential debate will feature less interference from moderators in order to avoid being seen as partisan/invasive.

Gregory seems to only listen for buzz words, he rarely asks an actual follow up. If you discuss budgets in a nuanced manner he'll demand your position on Simpson Bowles because obviously it's the only bipartisan plan that has ever been introduced, or ever will be introduced. It is the holy grail

I don't think I'd ever punch a senator in the face, because it would be problematic both morally and from a purely utilitarian perspective, but if I were legally obligated to do so once, it would be Scott Brown.

And if I were legally obligated to do so twice, it would be Scott Brown, twice.

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- New York Jets owner Woody Johnson says, if asked to choose, that Mitt Romney winning the presidential election in November is a bigger priority than his NFL team having a winning season.

Johnson, wearing a Jets green tie, tells Bloomberg on Monday that "I think you always have to put country first," when asked what is more important to him. Johnson has publicly backed the Republican presidential candidate, and says in the interview that it's "very, very important" for Americans and "our kids and grandkids" to have Romney win the election."

What an ass clown.

it's ok because the Jets AND Romney are going to continue to be beaten like red headed step children, so both his priorities are fucked.

Bob can be hit or miss. Sometimes he asks great question but refuses to follow when he has someone in the corner.

What was the question and what was the answer?

I'm paraphrasing here; but it was something like: "Which one Supreme Court Justice epitomizes your positions or is you're ideal judge". His answer was Scalia...then Thomas...then Sotomayor.

Warren answered the question and simply said Elena Kagan.

Or revealing the true character of Scott Brown that he tries so deliberately to conceal.

Either way my points stands. It doesn't matter if he believes it or not, you never go full Scalia! You go with Roberts or Sotomayer or Kennedy or anyone but or Scalia. You don't go with the ideologue on the court!

Funny. Warren was on the shortlist for the seat that Kagan wound up with.

His answer was Scalia.

In Massachusetts.

Scott Brown has one big problem which is to hope that enough Democrats split their ticket between him and Obama. And guess what group make up a majority of Democrats, women. And how do you think it will play with that group with him talking down to a woman opponent? Or citing Scalia as one of his favorite judges? Should have gone with Sandra Day O'Connor. Not only was she the first woman judge, she was appointed by Reagan and has an Irish background. Easy lay up there.

if you're not a weird strict/literal constitutionist or whatever the phrase is for people who pretend to visit the intentions of men dead for centuries now, what is there to like about Scalia? honest question here.

You could be a reactionary! We've got quite a few of those in America.

Fuck that, I'd use both punches on McConnell.

Not one, but two trucks have crashed into trains near Visalia, California today.

Not "truck was being stupid and sitting on tracks when train came" but " truck actually drove into the side of the train"

I, for one, am glad the TSA is keeping americans safe.

As for the expansion of gambling, I really don't know what to make of it. Anti-gambling ads get a lot of airtime on the radio news station I tend to listen to while driving to and from work - although supposedly they're paid for by West Virginian casinos seeking to stop Maryland from getting a piece of their action. A similarly confusing situation, really.

I'm probably going to vote "yes" on gambling in MD, just because I don't really give a hoot about it one way or the other, but I'm willing to listen to arguments if anyone has any.

The "monkey" is her vagina.

They are so excited and jumping with glee that a man got murdered. wow.

They also seem pretty happy that the Iran Hostages weren't rescued.

Most Native Americans these days look white anyways, Scott Brown is a dick.

You should make a thread. What makes up ones racial identity seems like a popular theory on GAF lately.
