and you can keep complaining about the least democratic process in the Democratic primaries being, apparently, undemocratic

Both agreed to the convention rules, which if you took some time to look them over it clearly states that:

Motions to amend the Convention Agenda, the Temporary Convention Rules, or the Convention Rules shall only be adopted upon a two-thirds (2/3) vote of all delegates.

How can you change it without 2/3rds vote and with delegates still in line at 9:30, when it starts at 10?

I guess just throw the rules agreed upon out the window?

Sanders fan weighs in:

Okay.
One, rape fantasies are not a bad thing. Fantasy =/= reality, and rape fantasies are among the most common sexual fantasies.
Two, even if they were a bad thing, the piece he was writing was a speculative piece, not his own interests.
Three, that piece was written decades ago. If we're holding Sanders' speculative thoughts from decades back against him, can we hold DOMA against Clinton?

Probably has a much better karma score for that post than I have for saying Clinton has some detailed policy proposals on her website.

Suikoguy

I whinny my fervor lowly, for his length is not as great as those of the Hylian war stallions
No offense, but this is a pretty lame post.

Let's go dig around on Reddit and bring the shit back here.

While I do tire of quoting the crazies on reddit, you did the same a page ago.

I don't plan to make a habit of it, or even to do it again, but that one in particular was so goddamn amazing.

The GOP will absolutely hit Sanders on that rape fantasy quote in the general if he gets the nomination, btw.

Posting a pile of bullshit and saying "but no one proved to me this is wrong" is .... Less than ideal

What you need to do is link to yourself making the same argument at different points in the past. It's always good to cite an authority on the subject.

Caucuses are stupid for a variety of reasons, one of the big ones being the way delegates can be effected at these later steps. But if you use the rules to your advantage at the county convention and say "those are the rules, you should've shown up" and then throw a fit when the rules get used against you at the state convention, that's as hypocritical as calling superdelegates undemocratic and then begging them to overturn the election results.

Why should we worry about what the GOP is going to do to Sanders?

just gonna point out that they did an official count after 10 per at least one reddit source, including this /r/hillaryclinton thread, so you're literally complaining about nothing re: rule changes

Then what was the call to vote for?

Source could have been Satan himself, if it's a factual statement then what difference does it make?

I feel like this is extremely telling of a Sanders supporter's unfamiliarity with politics.

Look at Michael Dukakis, look at John Kerry. The Republican Party can destroy a presidential candidate if they're not skilled enough to respond, and Bernie isn't battle tested. Sanders supporters act as if the man radiates purity and honesty and this alone will ensure a general election victory. His approval numbers have already been dragged down by the primary. The last PPP poll had him underwater. This is absolutely important in assessing a candidate's odds in the general election, Hillary and Bernie both benefit from the fact that they'd be running against the most disliked candidate in history.

Then what was the call to vote for?
the thing at 9:30? It sounds like a prelim count, not a "call to vote." Unless you're going to take that iPhone note as gospel.

If they must continue to do caucuses, why is there even a chance of delegate counts being altered during the process? Wouldn't it be possible set things up to lock in the counts to represent the results of the actual election day?

Man...I came to post about Trump kissing Putin picture, and feel like that guy bringing in the pizza into the room on fire .GIF What is going on in this thread? I'm so confused...

I've been involved in politics since the Al Gore days.

If Clinton and her supporters can spin an FBI investigation and the shady parts of her history, I'm sure Bernie and his supporters can spin whatever is thrown at him. I guess Hillary only has that power because of all the scandal that has surrounded her from the very beginning. So she is battle tested in that area, where Bernie probably isn't.

The point was, which you obviously missed, is if Hillary has this on lock then it doesn't matter what the GOP has to attack Bernie with because it's a scenario that this thread thinks will never happen. So it's a futile argument.

I see it as a projection personally, but that's another story.

Because some people are still insisting that Bernie can be the nominee, and that the fact that he's more "electable" should make the superdelegates switch their votes to him?

This is an argument, by the way that Bernie himself makes regularly.

It could happen in the same way that Scarlet Johannson could show up naked at my doorstep tomorrow.

I think it's hilarious that Sanders supporters point to Hillary's "attacks" as Bernie being battle tested...when Hillary hasn't attacked him at all. Nobody really has.

Hell, Trump has so far REFUSED to attack Sanders because he thinks he can steal his voters. So, like, that makes Bernie kind of the opposite of attacked right now. I think a fitting word would be "coddled."

Trump did give him a nickname, though. As a preview of which angle the attacks would go at him: "Crazy Bernie."

And considering some of the things he's said in the past, his Rubio-esque refusal to go off script, how easy it is to provoke him, his rumpled suits and crazy hair, and how he flails his arms and can't control his facial expressions in debates...it would be SO easy to define Bernie as the Crazy Socialist talking nonsense.

I was so sure it'd be Jeb! because... I trusted Silver's model lol.

I didn't really have a prediction of who would get the nomination early, but I did overestimate Jeb! The one big thing I was sure of was that it wouldn't be Walker, even when people were hyping him as the front runner. Walker rivals Palin (circa 2008) in the "candidate who looks much better on paper than in reality" department.

I thought it would be Bush too, but I recognized Trump's rise in the polls. I still didn't totally believe he would be the nominee, I just couldn't think of how any of the candidates could credibly stop him. Rubio always felt like manufactured hype.

If Hillary was a clean candidate without the FBI investigation as the 800 lb. gorilla in the room we'd be in a similar situation with the sun setting on Bernie's campaign. Ending potentially like Hillary's 08 campaign and you'd probably have more unity.

That potential and Sanders potentially forcing his agenda on the party is valid enough reason to continue to run. It's not hurting anything, and if it reshuffles the D party then so be it. I've been involved with Dems for 16+ years now, and I think that if Sanders wants to try and change things up then I'm all for that. It would be a move in the direction I would like to see the party go.
