Language condemning Pokemon Go as encouraging vagrancy now up for GOP platform vote.

By voice vote, GOP platform committee affirms the right of all Americans to post GoT spoilers on social media.

At this point I'm like, "figures."

The GOP would like Game of Thingy, since they love everything that's just terrible.

Yes, I said it. COME FOR ME BROS.

SHAME SHAME SHAME

And anti-Internet pornography amendment to the GOP platform passes unanimously by voice vote
The GOP is hated by all millennials despite millennials being fairly racist and sexist because the GOP can't stop doing stupid shit.

The way that's written sounds like they're in favor of making pornographic materials that appeal to someone whose fetish is being against the Internet. Anti-Internet pornography indeed.

Next up on the GOP's list, an anti-bacon amendment, anti-beer amendment, anti-gun amendment and anti-church amendment. Because if they think being anti-porn really represents their constituency, they are completely oblivious.

GOP Platform committee votes to keep language that every child deserves a mother and a father

GOP votes to keep in language calling for a constitutional amendment on same sex marriage

Like 10% of the population wants to overturn gay marriage at this point and it's impossible for Republicans to lose that 10% because Dems are pro-abortion and yet the GOP continues to do this dumb shit.

It's amazingly bad. The GOP needs to understand that Trump isn't saying this stuff out of the blue; the base believes it in very large numbers.

Math checks out.

I see you. I see you real good.

GOP Platform committee votes to keep language that every child deserves a mother and a father

What does this even mean? Like if a soldier dies in battle fighting for our freedoms, is the government going to take away the kids from his widow? "Sorry ma'am, these kids deserve a mother AND a father." Meaningless unenforceable platitudes are no way to govern. You want to do some good? How about "every child deserves drinking water free of lead and other contaminants"? That seems pretty good. And it's something you can ACTUALLY test for! But no, let's stick to meaningless shit. "Every child deserves a mother and a father and a golden retriever and a King James Bible and a Microsoft Xbox One Elite Bundle with custom American flag design." The party of cutting funding for education, welfare and social services talking about what "every child deserves"; I'm choking on the irony.

I like the apparent existence of 20% of Democrats who think Hillary should've been indicted but aren't less likely to vote for her as a result.

I guess maybe they're like "oh thank God she got away with it!"

A CRIMINAL FOR AMERICA IS APPARENTLY A REAL MOVEMENT

I've said it before but if she had actually done everything I've ever heard her accused of and got away with it I might be even more inclined to vote for her then I already am. I mean in that case she's obviously just so good at it! We're talking Evil Genius Supervillain levels here, Like Doom/Luthor 2016.

I don't mean to beat a dead horse but this article about how Sanders lost the Black vote popped up on my twitter feed so I thought I'd share. Includes excerpts from his former campaign staff as well.

They might as well include "we promise to inject each and every child with AIDS!" on that platform for as bad as all this sounds right now >_<

I think part of the article sums up Bernie's agenda. In 2014 a few interviews showed that Bernie was more interested in gaining the white working class than anything. Millennials I don't think were part of the equation at the very beginning, but once he found out how popular he was with them he started to target them. But it was only enough for him to get a good chunk of the vote. He was never going to win since the millennial vote was never going to be enough and the millennial vote was too small during these primary. I think mid-late way part of the primary, he knew he was going to lose, but still gave hope of the possibility he was going to win.

read it the other day, the bit about the college visit was fucked up

I know people say that the platform doesn't matter but I've already met lifelong conservatives in droves who just can't vote for Trump. Pigeon posted earlier that 48% of voters have already said as much. Having people run on a platform that is designed at a convention where moderate Republicans have already announced they will not be present is going to do more real, tangible damage.

If I have this right: Amendment to specifically recognize LGBT persons as targeted by ISIS fails in GOP platform FP/Defense subcom.

Ted Cruz's people can't even take an easy "hey, we care about gay people!" win that involves no compromise on marriage or civil rights. Ted Cruz's people are politically brain dead.

He's always struck me as a coward who is only back because of the pro-Democrat headwinds this year.
Nothing about this is false.

I do like this Kos post on it:

SCENE: The Bayh residence, Indianapolis, 3 AM

[phone rings]

EVAN BAYH: What the hell…?

[BAYH picks up the phone]

HILLARY CLINTON: Hello, Evan.

BAYH: Oh shit.

CLINTON: I just heard the news of your Senate campaign. Good to hear. You’re a real team player, Evan.

BAYH: My—my what?

CLINTON: I’ve already spoken with Baron Hill. He’s positively enthused.

BAYH: What is HAPPENING?

CLINTON: And I see you’ll have no problem with campaign funds. I’ve spoken with Jon Tester on your behalf.

BAYH: No, I’m no—

CLINTON: Just to help you out, I’ve already let the news out to CNN. They’re running the story this morning. You’ll get some good press!

BAYH: Fuck, I really do have to do this.

CLINTON: Welcome back, Evan.

What's kind of interesting to me is how the fetishization of the white working class vote can really be found all over the Democratic coalition. Obviously Bernie saw it as key to his revolution, but you'll find this echoed by a lot of the more conservative voices in the party as well. Frankly, I think it's easier to achieve policy goals that benefit the working class within the current Democratic coalition than it would be to win back the white working class vote.

Man, Bernie is being thrown under the bus pretty fast by the extremely die hards.

Nobody is safe I guess. Just shows they weren't really in it for any of his policies or even because of him as a man.

The flight plan I just filed with the agency list me, my men, Dr. Pavel here. But only one of you!

HARHAR Goodjob is going to invent a Sliders-esque dimension hopping machine to find the real Bernie Sanders, who is definitely going to be president.

Only hardcore nationalists follow politics in Japan enough to know Abe's positions. No one in Japan cares about politics IIRC.

Ugh. That's the sense I'd always gotten; politics in Japan are just a bureaucracy of entrenched old guys doing the same thing forever and the public are indifferent to it so long as nobody rocks the boat too much. But I haven't ever really paid too much attention to Japanese politics since it doesn't usually have much relevance outside of Japan.

I didn't realize it before some discussion in Discord, but Japan is very close to being a one-party country.

I guess DPJ really blew it when they had those couple years where they dethroned the LDP huh.

edit: so when the old nationalists all finally die off, does that mean the only people in Japan who vote will be....2ch users? No wonder Japan is doomed.
